Welcome to X-Entertainment's August Megaparty, which, truth be told, means absolutely nothing. Only set rule: New blog posts every day in August. Why? I'm not totally sure. I'd been kicking around the idea of updating the blog daily-by-mandate for a while, but if that was ever advertised, I'd hate doing it. Aside from time constraints, nothing is fun when you just "have to do it." So, while I'd like to see this place updated more often, I don't want to lose my right to hate y'all for a week spread and not say anything. On the other hand, a month-long challenge felt right, and let's face it, there ain't jack going on in August anyway. We're all old people. Old people hated by the world at large.
What will we be looking at during the August Megaparty? I have no idea, because I haven't planned for it. I got bored one night and made a graphic advertising it, and that's how we ended up here. I've got a lot of little things laying around that need their site-immortalization so I can throw 'em in storage boxes and get 'em out of my face forever, but other than that, I have no clue. Hopefully, we'll have fun. Let's increase the chances by talking about "Fish Ooze."
Fish Ooze is brilliant, because no matter what's inside the package, people are going to buy it. There are very few people on this planet who could resist buying Fish Ooze, sheerly on the merit of it being called "Fish Ooze." When I got a closer look and noticed that the package delivered as promised, I invented a new cheer that involves doing a bunch of somersaults and rhyming words with "ooze."
What you get: A hard plastic, jewel-like container filled with stretchy blue goo and two plastic tropical fish. The fish live in the goo, having assimilated to their polluted circumstances through generations of evolution. On the other hand, while the fish may be okay living in ooze, I'm not so sure they'll fare as well in ooze once you start using the included straw to blow it up into balloozens. Yes, the ooze is inflatable, and since you're putting a wide straw into a pile of gooey crap, Fish Ooze also presents one of the world's best examples of a choking hazard. Blow out, you're cool. Suck in, and you're the second circle graphic on one of those awesome choking posters pizza restaurants have to put up.
Not to worry. A disclaimer on the back of the package reads, "DO NOT EAT." Easy for them to say. They don't have a god damned straw in the shit. If you don't want me to eat the Fish Ooze, lead me not into temptation you stupid asshole. The company that makes this is called "Ja-Ru," which sounds more like something a copycat rapper would name himself to skirt copyright law.
I like Fish Ooze. Because it's called Fish Ooze!

Ohhhh, not Ja-Ru!
I don't even know how that company gets to make half the stuff they do without it being recalled.
But, I would so buy that Fish Ooze, too. I love ooze, but throw in a fake Nemo and Dory and I'm there.
This kinda reminds me of my Ice Age "Chillin' Villians" that I have. It looks like an ice shard, but it's filled with "frooze" and has either Scrat or umm, 2 other creatures and they look frozen in the frooze.

Hmmm, how many articles and blog posts have I seen on here regarding ooze? I can think of a few, but the ones that stick out in my mind are the Ninja Turtles mutagen ooze.
I think I've seen quite a bit about fish here as well.
So now we've got a product that combines what I believe are two of Matt's favorite things: fish and ooze. No wonder he likes it just because it's called fish ooze.
Personally, I am not a fan of fish OR ooze. Being from Kansas, I just wasn't exposed to much aquatic wildlife as a kid. Now I just think fish smell funny and look weird. As far as ooze goes, I just don't care for slimy stuff. I can't imagine why.

Neat. I've never seen inflatable ooze before.

Fish Ooze, now THAT'S a name for something! I vote that Tigerfan renames that cemetary to that.
PS: This greymatter stuff has GOT to be settled. I keep getting the Spam message, even when I clean out my cookies & restart. I have to post this on IE!!!

Kinda reminds me of the little tubes of toxic rubber you could buy in the 80s (maybe still today, I haven't checked) and you'd squeeze a glob onto your tiny straw and blow it up. Then if you were me, you'd line the rubber bubbles up on your bookshelf and cry when they deflated the next day.
Chestnuts roasted by Welsh Rabbit @ 08/01/2006 02:09 AM EST
I find Fish Ooze oddly compelling. If I see some, I'm buying it.

Awww yeeeeaaah 10th!

Those nasty rubber bubble things... ah... you can still buy them at dollar stores. Only tiny amounts, though. Anyone remember a time when they advertised toothpaste-tube sized amounts of EVERY COLOR on infomercials? And those building blocks that were only 2 pegs, and the kids had huge castles and crowns made out of them? Old infomercials were awesome.

Good evening everyone, hoping that our friend Muppet Baby gets better soon! I bought some DVD sets at Target on Sunday afternoon: TMNT vol. 4 ($10), Duck Tales vol. 1 (approx. $26), and a couple others. I watched two episodes of DT early Monday morning after work and about two episodes of TMNT today! Not bad. They'll be good to have around when I have more free time. I have to be at work at 7 am tommorrow (that's "flexible schedules" for you). Hopefully, i'll have a job at rite-aid by the end of the week (wish me luck, please!). I don't think I was particularly cut out for fast food.
Chestnuts roasted by Hoverbored @ 08/01/2006 03:47 AM EST
Oh man I'd be tempted to drink that, too. If they made it like "blood n guts" with red slime and body parts in it, you wouldn't really have to worry about kids downing it, but that blue liquid and fish smiling as if to say "mmm this water is tropical punch-licious" makes it far too enticing
Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 08/01/2006 07:46 AM EST
That Freddy comic looks like what would happen if you hit Mark Silvestri's right hand with a hammer.
I'm pretty sure ALL ooze is inflatable, but they don't advertise it,because companies like say,Hasbro, have real addresses, unlike Ja-Ru,whose office is a raft out on international waters.

Wow, of all the ooze-related posts I've seen on this site, this is the one that has made me really want to go on ebay and look for fish ooze. I've always had this thing for fish where I wanted some but always ended up getting fake fish over real fish cuz my parents were like that. They would always get me the fake animal alternative instead of the real thing. In any case, I now have a "collection" of sorts of fake fish and their various displays. I think fish ooze would be a mighty fine addition to the group.

Matt,
Good luck with the challenge of updating your blog everyday. I have trouble sometimes putting 1 new article up a week on my site. If I didn't have a job, I'd have no problem. Unfortunately, there's this little thing called money, that I need to survive.
Chestnuts roasted by Greg @ 08/01/2006 10:38 AM EST
They still make floam. It's incredibly overpriced. Like, 6.99 for one little tub of the stuff.
God only knows what that ooze is made of - I don't think we want Matt tasting it. Testing his limits on certain old foods and kool aid is good enough.
Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 08/01/2006 11:03 AM EST
August probably does suck for most people. It's hot, you're contemplating going back to school (or trying really hard to remember the concept of "summer break" for those of us long out of school), and not a damn exciting thing happens. Except...today is my birthday! Hooray for me! So if you'd like, feel free to celebrate my birthday all month long. I think Matt should chip in by updating the blog every day...oh, look, he is. How fortuitous for me!

Contemplating going back to school? Heck, when I was still in school, Marching Band started the middle of the 2nd week in August. Summer's OVER when August rolls around.
And "hot" is the understatement of the year. Try 108 last year. while we were outside. For 3 hours. Not fun.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one that thinks "X-E and the Fish Ooze" would be an excellent name for a rock band?

the greymatter thing seems to be based on IP addresses, not cookies. Both times I've had the problem, I've solved it by unplugging the cable modem for about 5 minutes. Unless you have a static IP, chances are when you plug it back in, you'll have a new IP address and will be able to post.

Does school start earlier now than it used to? I distinctly remember my birthday being practically the middle of summer when I was a kid. I remember this because did I ever get balloons and cupcakes at school for my birthday? Hell, no, because it wasn't anywhere near the school year. One year I was in summer school (I took physics over the summer; I was a nerd, so sue me) and I got all excited because we'd be in session for my birthday for once. My boyfriend at the time had the balloons, the cupcakes, the works. Yeah, well, thanks to living in Florida, we got cancelled that day (it must've been a Friday) and by the time Monday rolled around, the balloons were deflated and the cupcakes had long been eaten by his family.
Anywho, I know here in Orlando some kids started school this week and some start next week. That seems crazy early to me! It's too hot to be in school!
And thanks for all the well wishes!
P.S. Fish Ooze as a band name is right up there with Giant Ape Juice...ah, the good old days of X-E.
Chestnuts roasted by purplegirl247 @ 08/01/2006 05:26 PM EST
You know, Poiple goil, I do think school is starting earlier. I've noticed school busses on the prowl earlier and earlier for the past 3 years or so.
Not that I mind anymore, I just feel bad for the little bastards who are getting screwed out of their summers. Especially since there are no good Saturday morning cartoons anymore. What are they supposed to look forward to during the school year?!! NOTHING! Well, maybe the next Spider-Man movie, but that's not untill next year, their attention spans aren't that long.

And I remember those damn Muzzy commercials. Heck, when I took German, I watched ‘em. Lots of sex, mostly incest, all bestiality. Muzzy counts as an animal right?

Incidentally, anyone out there have funny/weird stories about old high school friends? My senior year, I had a friend who was a junior. Every year, the senior class does a prank on-campus; my class just T.P.ed a tree(our class was so lame, we almost got our prom cancelled). My friend had the idea of sneaking onto campus with some other friends one weekend to steal the hard drives out of the computers, glue all the doors shut, and then seal the locks with epoxy. I haven't seen my friend since graduation, but I don't think he did it a) because it wasn't announced on the news, and that happens every time a school gets trashed, and b)I was never called as a witness for his inevitable trial.

School has always started pretty early here in Texas (or at least West Texas, where I grew up). Part of the reason is that you finish school earlier. Absolutely no later than the third week in May. I believe the reason this was done originally was that kids needed to help out their parents on the farm during the summer months more. I may be totally wrong, of course.
Heck, in College, we were done with finals by the end of the first week of May. I always felt real sorry for those people still going to school in June....
And Off Topic, but I'm off to Watch V for Vendetta. It came out on DVD today. I loved in the theater, but since I'm hearing impaired I had a difficult time with V's words (I read lips...can't do that with a Mask!)

Well, I am OUT of the hospital! I basically begged the doctors to let me out today ('hell, I can eat Jello and take steroid pills at home, why do I need to stay in this bed?' etc etc) I must say the best part of my 8 day stay in the hospital was the day I snuck out of my room to check XE. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the get well cheer.
Our school starts on like Aug.23rd for teachers, and it ENDED on June 26th....is that a WHOLE summer? I don't think so.
Not enough for me anyways.
Now that I have doctor clearance, I am off to Montreal on a road trip tomorrow, to pick up a friend of mine (my old roomate from Korea) Summer is back ON, baby! And we have an all August long XE party to prove it!

Yep, aids on both ears. Had them since 3rd grade (I guess that'd be 14 years now). Went through a pretty rough time until junior high, when I basically learned that anyone who gives me shit about them doesn't deserve to be my friend...
And I too had the thin walls problem, but I got an infared loop system for the stereo. Works great. Can't crank it up too loud (could damage hearing even more), but at least the neighbors don't complain anymore. I lucked out the last time I moved and got an apartment on the end of the complex, so only one wall touches another unit, but I like the loop so much I haven't even wired my speakers yet, after 3 months of being here.
The worst was probably in Marching band...can't wear them because it's too hot and I sweat (BTE aids)....So I did 5 years of Marching band without ever wearing em. Luckily the PA system was pretty damn loud...

I'm not sure if anyone is interested. But the theme song for the Rob Zombie "Halloween" remake/prequel coming out in Oct. 07 is up at http://www.tylerbates.com/ (just click my name) you need to click on the music player at the bottom, and select playlist 1, then it's about halfway down.

kidneyboy: I've heard rumors of Trouble in Tiny Town, but I've never heard of anyone who actually saw it.

I seem to be missing something.
How is "Fish Ooze" explicit? If I was ever with a girl and she said "You wanna taster my fish ooze papi...?" I'd promptly throw her out and disinfect my apartment....
Happy Birhday purple!
Glad your hme and feeling better Muppet.

Hey everyone!
I realize I'm late to the MegaParty, but like Muppy Baby, I was in the hospital yesterday as well. Still recovering from surgery, basically hanging around my parent's house eating pudding and jello and swallowing lots of blood. Kind of like a vampire on summer vacation, I guess.
Anyway, great start, Matt. Here's hoping the rest of the month goes as smoothly!

Let's hope this goes through...
WB all who came back, Happy Bday to all those who have had Bdays between the time I last posted til the time I post again.
I had a power outage at around 8 last night in this heat, and fortunately, it was only local, and my fam stayed at my mom's friend's empty apartment for the night. Hardly any cable tv (nothing like watching scrambled Pee-wee's Playhouse & Colbert Report), but there was A/C, so that was a plus.
Oh, and my college starts September 6, and I get out in the middle of May, bitches.

We are not freaks, we are X-E Posters! Well, except for that dude in the corner, hitting himself in the head with a rubber pig, he's just here for contrast.

It's a good thing VH1 Classic at least did something to acknowledge the 25th birthday of MTV, because MTV itself sure was not going to do anything about it. There were some cool videos they had on, they also a couple from the Who
(Sister Disco and You Better You Bet)

And a necessary contrast it is.
Welcome back, Kyle and Muppet Baby - hope your recoveries are quick and easy.

Welcome back, Muppet Baby! Glad to hear that you gave those doctors what for.
My copy of Civ IV Warlords finally came in the mail! (hooray!)
However, my work hours got bumped from 3 hours/day to 8 hours/day, so I haven't got the chance to get into it yet! (boo!)

Anyone else notice the fish in the Fish Ooze are all fish from Finding Nemo?
Chestnuts roasted by A Nonny Moose @ 08/02/2006 01:22 PM EST
I told my son about this stuff and he kept asking me why anyone would sell fish shoes.
Invader Norbert: You'll be starting class on the day I go to court for a reckless driving ticket that I got on vacation. Don't speed in Virginia right now or you're screwed. Had to hire a lawyer and everything.

Seem so often when I post, a new thread begins. So here's hopin' it works this time too.
Jedoc-What kind of a job can you get to work 3 hour days? I want it.
Nonny Moose- I noticed the Nemo guy as well. Can you trademark stripes?

Good stuff. Keep it coming.
Although: 5 articles since May? Are you feeling okay?
Still, the quality is definitely top-notch.

Well no new post. UH oh this party may be ending early. I really don't care, but Matt, you better be getting some ass or doing something really cool that prevented you from posting another thread.

Cameron, kingklash, and anyone else who mentioned X-E and the Fish Ooze as being a great name of a band, THANK YOU. It is indeed the perfect name for a band, and my band in Guitar Hero enjoys it.
