SNT, baby. If it's not too late, I hope.

It's never too late for SNT. Although I'm liable to crash out at any moment. Easter is tiring. What with all the grass fires and family and cheesecake and the like. Blarg.

I miss dyeing easter eggs - damnit it was so fun... I should make some sort of vegan easter egg coloring kit. That would rock
My previous plan of finding wooden eggs to paint kinda fell by the wayside. Besides, it's not the same as coloring.
I wonder whatever happened to Vegan Mike?

Just finished watching King Kong on DVD. That's probably one of my top 8 favorite movies.

It's Lindsay Lohan hosting for the third time in less than three years.
Yay, my first SNT.

SNL = Lindsey Lohan and Pearl Jam. It's always worth to watch the first part... sometimes they surprise you. It seems like a movie night. I just watched Magnolia, and Se7en for the first time... Oh yea. Pleasure overload.

You could always buy plastic eggs and paint them with regular paint, Ryane.
BTW anyone catch JLU tonight?

SNL has been pure garbage since 1996, IMO. There was a slight glimmer of hope when Amy Poehler joined the cast, but it soon faded.

Sometimes SNL throws us some entertainment (i.e Natalie Portman). But yea, it definitly sucks. But I watch anyway, hoping for a moment.

SNL isn't funny right now. But I think Chris Rock said it best when he hosted a number of years ago: SNL is funny for a while, then it sucks for a while. Then it gets REALLY funny for a while, then it REALLY SUCKS for a while. Etc. It's an endless cycle.

I will always watch snl, I think. I just wish Comedy Cental still played old reruns, the ones on E! just aren't the same. And dang, Pearl Jam is worth watching it for tonight.
On another random note, I just got back from watching the Twins beat the Yankees. I don't join in fully in the extreme hate and jeering of NY during the game, but it is something to see it live when they get beat.

I gave up cookies for lent, and I made sure to stay up until midnight so I could eat the delicious Tagalongs my mother brought me yesterday. All this, only to discover that somehow, they are "peanut butter patties" with 0 grams of trans fat and GROSS.

I remember my mom never wanted a mess when we were kids, so instead of dying easter eggs, she bought the plastic easter egg wraps.
For those of you who don't know, they were a plastic sleve, usually with a cartoon character on it. You'd put the sleeve around the egg, dip it in boiling water for 5 seconds. And, it would shrink to fit the egg tightly. They were kind of neat, but still not as fun or messy as using real dye.

Tetsu - Well, I'm not sure the paint would stick to normal plastic eggs. :/ But, that's ok. Hopefully I'll be more prepared next year.
Mattman - I've been playing Kingdom Hearts II for a while now - I think I have just about every world unlocked, except Aladdin and Lion King. The worlds are WAY too short, but it's pretty sweet, none the less. Highlight so far - seeing Sephiroth!
Hmm, I don't really think I ever believed in the Easter Bunny. I'm not sure though, but I did believe in Santa.

Personally, I was never into DYING eggs. I always got the "Doc Hinkle egg painting kit" (basically just food-coloring and q-tips) and actually PAINTED the eggs.
Actually, I just did that this afternoon. At any rate HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
Oh, and I agree with Chris Rock about SNL (and Steve Martin who said much the same thing once while hosting).

In answer to the questions, I believed in the Easter Bunny until I was seven or eight. I still get Easter baskets, usually filled with homemade candy. (The homemade stuff just tastes better somehow.) My family used both dye and shrink wraps, but I haven't dyed eggs in about 18 years. And yes, I remember when SNL was funny, but it is now much of the suck.
Did I miss anything? ;p
Chestnuts roasted by Kieran Alexis @ 04/16/2006 02:42 AM EST
You can dye eggs and not eat them, can't you? I mean, we usually didn't, the vinegar in the dye makes them taste a little funny. Plus we always dyed way more than we could ever eat before they went bad. Or are you vegetarian/vegan out of moral reasons that include using the eggs in some way?
If you know someone who will eat a giant omlet, you could do hollow eggs (use a tack to make a hole in either end, blow the insides out). I guess you could do that with the hard boiled ones too.
Perhaps you could mold tofu into roundish shapes and dye it? It takes color pretty well. Seems like with the right additional ingredients it could be made to hold its shape. Tofu is magical, you can make it do anything.

Yes, I did believe in the Easter Bunny at one point. I think I was kind of on the fence for some reason, but then I left him a note and he wrote me back. His signature was a picture of his face. That he drew. That was when I believed, then one day I noticed that the Bunny's writing looked a lot like my dad's. I think I was over it by then.
And speaking of the Bunny himself, I was hanging out with a few friends baking cookies last night (Friday), and one of my friends said she "ran into the Easter Bunny" and he had "a surprise" for us- coloring books and crayons. So funny! But I do have a nice picture of a bunny sitting on top of a unicorn that says "U is for Unicorn." Awesome.
I did have some of those plastic egg wraps one year- they were Little Mermaid-themed and they rocked.
Also- Laser Cats! Yes!

For some reason, I never did actually believe in the Easter Bunny, and I knew the the Tooth Fairy was my parents, but I distinctly remember praying to Santa Claus for a Nintendo when I was six. And did that jolly bastard come through? Of course not, because the corn harvest was crap that year. And in an interesting twist, I didn't realize that St. Patrick was real until sixth grade.

What is the name of the popular egg dyeing kit? I think it begins with a "P" but I cant remember and my mind is failing me.
My parents would let me pick out the egg dyeing kit every year and I usually chose this one because it had little cut out Easter themed standups on the back and cutesy bunnies and chicks on the package. One year we bought that and the plastic wraps. I remember there being Bambi/Thumper themed ones and some with bunnies and butterflies... very pretty and made attractive eggs.
Never did really believe in the Easter Bunny. It just wasnt Easter without a stuffed bunny, some peeps, and a chocolate rabbit of some sort. The worst though was the year a cousin of mine came up to visit for Easter and what was topping HIS Easter basket? None other than TMNT for the NES. A freakin VIDEO GAME for EASTER !! I was devestated after that... LOL the year afterward I did score a Disney movie for Easter, it was 101 Dalmations I think. Either that or the Little Mermaid.
Cant remember. My mom would always find cool stuff to put in my basket though like Easter colouring books, stickers, pretty stationary, sometimes a small inexpensive piece of bunny/butterfly/spring themed jewerly.

Chestnuts roasted by Cameron T. @ 04/16/2006 09:50 AM EST
I wonder is PAAS is an acronym for something?
Those of you complaining about acronyms should stop. In everyday life they aren't too bad. However, I work for a contractor for the Navy, and the number of acronyms we use is ridiculous. For the first few weeks I usually had a blank look on my face at meetings, because I had no idea what anyone was talking about. I got dragged into a teleconference with some bigwigs on my second day, and they thought I was an idiot because I was constantly asking what "SBTC" (Shielded Basket Transfer Container) or "FROD' (Functional Requirements and Objectives Document) stood for.
All that changed when someone took mercy on me and gave me a copy of the BLOA (Big List Of Acronyms).

Oh, and happy Easter everyone!
I honestly can't remember if I believed in the Easter bunny, which is kind of sad. However, I grew up in a pretty religious home, so the Easter bunny wasn't really a big deal at my house.
I did believe in Santa up until sometime between Christmas in 1st grade and Christmas in 2nd grade, so I suppose there's a good chance that I believed in the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. I do remember the look of surprise on Mom's face when she came to tell me the truth about Santa and I told her I'd already figured it out. I then asked why she and Dad had lied, when they had taught me lying was wrong. Boy, that was awkward
Chestnuts roasted by spaz307 @ 04/16/2006 10:14 AM EST
I TOTALLY believed in the Easter Bunny- my parents were great. On Easter, I would awake to a huge gift basket on the floor of my room. I would munch on that until my little brother came in- then we would use the basket to hunt for the CHOCOLATE all over the house.
You had to move quick, or else the windowsill chocolates wouldn't make it...one year we found melted eggs a few days later hidden between two towels in the bathroom. Oops.
What about you guys? Any egg hunt accidents?
