So... yeah. In leu of a good topic, just an FYI that the new "holiday flavored" peeps (shaped like gingerbread cookies) aren't very good.

*Sigh* Even SNICK is long gone...it's been taken over as TeeNick from the sunday sched. I even remember the original SNICK lineup:

8: Clarissa Explains It All
8:30: Roundhouse
9: Ren & Stimpy
9:30: Are You Afraid of The Dark?

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 11/05/2005 07:30 PM EST

ever have one of those nights? or weeks? or years? ugh...

Chestnuts roasted by HiFlex @ 11/05/2005 07:30 PM EST

Speaking of Nick, anyone know a release schedule for the second season of Pete & Pete? Matt, any insider tips?

HiFlex: Yeah, I just got some work after 7 months of jobless-ness (temp work, but it's something) and the second day I'm there someone steals my PDA and my mp3 player. And I am NOT making enough per hour to even brake even, let alone come out with some money, unless I work there for a few weeks.

Gremlins, the nightmare before christmas, and the last starfighter have really made my day.

Pete and Pete Season 2 just came out Tuesday and the third and final season comes out Feb. 28th.

Whenever my life gets me so down I know i can go down to where the music and the fun never end as long as that music is playing you know what i'm saying I know that I can find a friend down at the round house.

Anyone know a dvd release schedule for that show?

Chestnuts roasted by Neo Anderson @ 11/05/2005 07:49 PM EST

I love are you afraid of the dark?. Is that ever coming out on DVD, that's something i would buy!

Chestnuts roasted by Mike @ 11/05/2005 07:59 PM EST

Got one of the last packages. Now I have to wait a long time to drink them, but at least that gives me time to buy the wine they suggest to go with the sodas.

Pete and Pete is on dvd and it didn't make headlines? My favorite episode was the Halloween one with the gang that wore pumpkins on their heads. Does anyone know the name of the villain that used paper as a weapon? Paper cut kid or something like that.

I just got back from buying $55.00 of Christmas supplies at walmart kn=mart and big lots in Pitsburgh and I notice that its getting really cheap and all the same, there very little unique, even stocking's were all the same everywhere. I'm drunkk on Jaegermeister and beer so forgivr the typing...GO STEELERS!!!!

Chestnuts roasted by Funky Boo Berry the 70's Ghost @ 11/05/2005 09:10 PM EST

Did you get drunk at Walmart? Or did you get drunk before you went shopping? That actually sounds like a good idea to make shopping more bearable, but then again I'd probably end up buying my niece a cat sweater.

Enjoying the Beavis and Butthead day on Comedy Central and MTV2 then switching gears to Re-Animator and Land of the Dead. Nothing like a nice Saturday at home

Ya, is there a reason why there showing B&B on cmedy central now. The movie was on MTV today. I totally forgot who Stewert was until today!

RAS: Is The Last Starfighter the one where the hick boy gets the high score on an arcade game so the aliens who created the game come and abduct him to take him to their homeworld where he has to use his video game skills to fight a real alien invading force? Wow - that was a long sentence. On a similar note, I've been really wanting to watch The Wizard recently but I haven't had the ambition to go out and look for it at a video rental store.

They should make the Savage-Pack It would be a two-pack DVD set containing with The Wizard and Little Monsters.

This is really random...

I have a question about a movie, and I could post it over at IMDB, but I think you guys will be more helpful. It's been forever since I saw it, so I might be getting some details wrong. Please Help!!

You know the Invaders from Mars movie (1986)? You know how at the end the kid wakes up and he thinks it's a dream, but then he sees the glowy glow outside, and it it supposed to be like it is happening for real? Well, I KNOW I remember it ending a different way, when I saw it as a kid. I remember the kid wakes up and thinks "Whew, it was all a dream!" then he looks for his lucky penny, and IT'S GONE because he had used it to kill the Martians or something. So it WASN'T a dream.

I distinctly remember this ending, and it confused me when I saw it again several years ago, because it was not the same as I remembered it. Also, I have a really good imagination AND the Martians scared me to death, so I might have refused to watch the ending and just made it up myself. My brother makes fun of me, so PLEASE tell me if anyone else remembers this. I read that there was a different ending on the UK version, but it still wasn't the same as I remembered.

If I did make it up...don't you think it's a way better ending!? smile

Thanks for the help.

Hey Matt I ran into an old friend of yours. There's a picture of you on an older article to when you went to Atlantic City for your birthday and you've got one of these over your hand. I was reading the article and wondering where I'd seen it before and then realized I had one just like it along with a cart full of other puppets.

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 11/05/2005 09:52 PM EST

Mike- You can buy all the episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark on ebay for like 40-50 bucks. I bought a dvd-r set of em last year and they're all really good quality. There's 91 episodes so I still haven't gotten through the entire series, but it still rocks to be able to bust them out whenever I'm in sick or relatives are over. P.S. has anyone played Guitar Hero yet? It's SUPER awesome.

Chestnuts roasted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 11/05/2005 10:04 PM EST

Are you serious 91 episodes- How come I could only remember like five of them....dam Budweiser.

Holy Cow-I just had a flashback Does anyone remember that movie Munchie- OH MY GOD. It was a little puppet monster thing in a leather jacket and Don Delloise was the voice...I have got to re-visit that crazyness again!!

Finally got around to watching Blink's Greatest Hits DVD. They included only the original cut of Stay Together for the Kids, which is pretty interesting to say the least. I already had the complete Urethra Saga so I only needed it for the s/t era videos.

Another Girl Another Planet is good, but Not Now has yet to grow on me. It seems like Tom dominated the last chapter of Blink's career which is kinda only fair I guess. Before All the Small Things I was afraid they'd break up because Tom never got a single. Think about it, M+Ms, Dammit, Josie, What's My Age Again?. And then Tom finally got a single and it went to #1. The s/t really is Tom-dominated, but oddly it's my fav.

I'm so much more of a Mark guy. I hope Plus 44's vocals are evenly distributed.

Nickelodeon showed The Outer Limits? And here I thought it was a kids channel... (even if they did, I never watched it. I hardly watched Are You Afraid of The Dark either cause I got scared easily)

I do remember them showing The Tomorrow People, though. Not the 60's version, but some sort of obscure revival, I think.

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 11/06/2005 01:01 AM EST

D-MAN- Did you actually like Munchie? I couldn't get through that movie without passing out... and that's /with/ pizza and soda. If you want a really awesome Dom Deluise movie then check out the first Skateboard Kid. He voices a magical flying skateboard that's chock-full of attitude. And if that's not enough there's a music video at the end of the film (vhs version) starring a bunch of 13 yr olds playing thrash music.

Eddie- I don't even remember the movie, I just have the image of that little moster in my head. A talking stakeboard huh, jeez, why the hell was Deluise a voice for these ideas. What was next "Hero" starring Don Deluise as the sandwich with a heart of gold.

I wish I was here with you talking about classic Nickelodeon. Awesome- this is why you're my people. My copy of Pete and Pete 2 arrived yesterday, and it's calling my name, but I just don't have the time yet. I really can't wait for future DVD releases, for the stuff I like even MORE. Ah Nick. I used to love Nickelodeon. I loved Salute Your Shorts, Hidden Temple, Wild and Crazy Kids, early All That, and Clarissa Explains it All. I had a crush on Melissa Joan Hart for a long time and still do. smile

I just ate 'The Batman' cereal. Exactly like Oreo O's but bat shaped cereal bits. Probably see a review for it here in a few years. Haha.

Wish I was here last night. Work. Boo.

No crazy things at my grocery store where I work. Halloween night we put up Christmas candy that's it.

Can't wait for December for those advent calendars. One of the things that make it easier going through the winter month.

Anyone else watch Simpsons Treehouse of horror number... this year's?

Chestnuts roasted by dohopoki @ 11/06/2005 08:32 PM EST

Yeah, I'm definately looking forward to the "Ducktails" and "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers" sets. I don't know if they'd do any extras, but it would be worth it for just for the memories.

Speaking of memories, I made a great find at the grocery store where I work today - I found the video for "Christmas at Sesame Street." You want to talk about taking you back. The tape was released in 1987 (according to the box), but I think the special may be a little older (Mr. Hooper is in it and very much alive). If you can find it, I recommend it. It's really sweet, has some hilarious segments (like Bert and Ernie doing a charming "Gift of the Magi"-esque present exchange), and they even let Oscar sing "I Hate Christmas."

Matt, your review on the halloween soda is listed on jones' website, you probably knew that. Still, pretty cool.

Yes. I have the green vhs tape Christmas Eve on Sesame Street too, and it's becoma a tradition for me to watch it on Christmas Eve. It's Awesome. I love the beginning when they do the slingshot on iceskates and Oscar gets whipped through the wall and down the stairs! Then Cookie Monster keeps trying to contact santa, but eats all his writing utensils and telephone. Fuck yea.

Chestnuts roasted by Mattman @ 11/06/2005 09:34 PM EST

GAS = Games And Sports. I had the option of getting that channel with a bunch of crappy channels instead of more movie channels when I first got our digital cable. I'm not sure if I made the right choice....

Saturday morning cartoons are gone as we know it!! remember when the networks produced their own programming?! Now, CBS borrows from Nickelodeon/Nick Jr., ABC borrows from Disney/Playhouse Disney, and NBC...well, NBC gave up in the early '90s. They don't even have cartoons anymore. Fox is the only one that still produces their own stuff, besides the lesser networks (WB and UPN).

You know you're getting older when stuff like this really bothers you.
