You know, thinking back on all my years of watching TV, all the different attempts at giving celebrities kid's shows, I think Slipknot deseves their own Saturday morning cartoon. Or The Flaming Lips. Or Jenna Jameson.

I got The Muppet Show Season 1 on dvd tuesday! It's pretty good, with not that many extras, but what it does have makes up for it: a Muppet Trvia caption track for all 24 episodes (VERY helpful), original pitch reel for the Muppet Show (very funny), a Promo Gag Reel for the 1st season, and one of the original Muppet Show pilots: Sex & Violence, with Nigel the orchestra leader as the host (not that funny).
The front of the box is made of felt, and it feels amazing!!
Now onto tuesday for Simpsons Season 6!!

Yes, it must be getting towards the second half of the year, because there are too many good DVDs out. The ThunderCats DVD premiered on the same day as the Muppets, resulting in my acquisition of neither. Sonic Gems Collection comes out the same day as Homer, so I can't get that either....luckily, I have the PC version of Sonic CD.
Wow, I've never been this high before. In an XE-blog-post sense.

I'd ask for viewing advice again, but its a bit early and I think I'm going to hit Wallyworld. I need to frame up some posters for my new office. Is the best thing about working getting more wallspace? Possibly.
What the hell, throw out a Keanu, Cusack, or Cook movie or three and set tonight's schedule at K-'s Multiplex

Actually, flipping around on TV today I saw two random movies, one with Cook and one with Keanu, that I had never seen before. One was on Comedy Central and I don't remember what channel the other one was on.
Chestnuts roasted by Gozer @ 08/13/2005 03:41 PM EST
That was Scorched with Rachael. Keanu was on at 10am on Showtime2 in The Night Before, 1:00 in Parenthood on TBS and Something's Gotta Give on HBO at 1:30.

Gozer, I think you've got a point. I'm starting work monday, and my best friend is leaving for grad school. I should watch the best of the best. Josie & the Pussycats, High Fidelity, and Sweet November . I guess I can use Sunday for the Trilogy. Rock on.

I saw "Must Love Dogs" because I love John Cusack. Even if he's the same character in every film.

Yes, he is what emo boys strive to be. But often we end up overserious, wooden, and painful to be around. I won't mention 2 actors like that because everyone here knows who I'm talking about. Love them just as much though

I haven't seen it, but it's not coming on again tonight. I was going to do alot of things today, and then I found out they are remodeling my front porch so I'd have to crawl out a window to leave. When do these things get decided? When I'm sleeping all day I bet.
Point Break is coming on at 8 on FX. Don't feel bad about only partially participating, I'm participating enough for everyone today (Sorry Matt
). The topic is Knegative's aborted Saturday plans. Or how about current listening. What is album is everyone listening to on end these days?

I'm listening to the Decemberists "Picaresque." I spent a good portion of a five-hundred mile road trip last week scouring the Texas panhandle for "Her Majesty," but Picaresque is good too. Besides, the Mariner's Revenge Song provides a much better counterpoint to playing "Pirates" eight hours a day.

I'm hoping to pick up "The Muppet Show" sometime this week. May look for "Thundercats" as well.
I think I should have stayed on the boardwalk. It was surprisingly windy and cool up there, given how hot it was during the day. I debated seeing a movie on the beach behind the Convention Center, but it was just too windy to be doing anything on the beach, and I'm iffy on "Wedding Crashers" (cute but nothing I MUST see) and have no interest in "Dukes of Hazzard."

Has anyone heard of this god awful game called Uncle Wiggliy? I was in NJ on vacation afew days ago and one of the kids staying at the beach house found this game and we played it! If you ever get the chance dont! Heres the little story behind it...
Uncle Wiggliy Longears is and old rabbit gentleman who lives in a hollow stump bungalow in the wodds, with Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, his muskrat lady housekeeper. Uncle Wiggliy has the rheumatism, and starts for Dr. Possum's house No 151 Green Moss Ave. on the other side of the forest. Uncle Wiggliy wants to be cured of his rheumatism. On th way to Dr. Possum's office, he has many adventures.
Oh well at least I won and got cured of my rheumatism!

Chestnuts roasted by Knegative @ 08/13/2005 09:34 PM EST
Yeah, I found out that this Uncle Willigy was first stories, I believe in like 1910 or something, I think that explains why its so creepy.
Chestnuts roasted by IHAQ @ 08/13/2005 09:46 PM EST
Well I found out the title of the book in question is Uncle Wiggily and the Sugar Cookie. He tries to help this kid test out his rain boots and I think it was a bobcat or something in overalls that was after him.
1910, yeah that would cover it. I'd never want to read that to a kid today. And its out of print from what I can tell. whew

I feel your DVD woes fellow
X-Ers. There is just too much to be had and once you get behind, it only gets worse. Complete HE-MAN this fall, Garfields, Muppets, etc. The only sure things are Episode III and Simpsons Season 6. My wife is not big on the DVD collection but she knows that those 2 are immune to her scrutiny.
Speaking of STAR WARS, the local WAL-MART took down its big ROTS display and the only figures left are Mon Mothma and Bail Organa. Who would have guessed that those 2 crowd pleasers weren't snatched up by fans and kiddies alike.

Well, as long as we're being random...maybe someone here can help me.
'bout a hundred years ago (mid 90's when I was just out of college), some DOS games came with something or other that I got when building my first computer. One in particular I remember but have no idea what the hell it was. I think it was some kind of puzzle game. What I remember most is that when you lost, your character (something cute, like maybe a bunny or teddy bear) would kill itself in some nasty way - hanging, or gunshot to the head, or knife to the gut.
Does ANYONE know what I'm talking about?

Sometimes, you just really get a craving to comment despite not having anything of value to say. Actually, judging by lots of what I read here, these cravings can be pretty frequent. However, my goal here is not to insult and annoy all the people here. I absolutely do enjoy doing these things, but they're not my GOALS. Regardless of my ramblings, all I'm really saying is that somewhere in reading the various rabbit-based posts, I decided Captain Bucky O'Hare sounded like something I wanted to discuss, in spite of it's irrelavence to the other going-on of the X-E boards. If you agree, you should comment, too. Then we shall discuss the Captain. It will be an enjoyable time.
I really should've shut up many sentences ago.
Hooray fo the Internet. Not only does it allow so many terabytes of things that have no right to exist, it allows me to contribute to the meaninglessness. Now is when I just stop with the typing and post a comment against all reason.

The only DOS Bunny Rabbit game that comes to mind for me is Jazz Jackrabbit...the little green commando dude. You can download the shareware version of it from this link to give it a look.
It's probably not much help, but I'm terribly bored

Wow, I'm over here talkin' green rabbits and Jazz Jackrabbit didn't even come to mind. Evil turtles, hoverboards, big rockets, attack birds, 2 1/2 dimensional graphics on the bonus levels - this was a game that had everything. Truly one of the masterpieces of the shareware age.
In fact, new poll: best shareware game?
There are so many greats that it's tough to choose...Jazz Jackrabbit was incredible, but I think I'm going to have to go with Commander Keen VI: Goodbye Galaxy. What can I say, the Bean-with-bacon Megarocket was one classy ride.

I have great memories of going to computer shows in the early 90's with my Dad when we lived in Groton, CT...we'd drive an hour into the state to spend a couple hours milling around some sleazy motel conference room filled with tables loaded with shareware and homemade programming stuff.
I always ended up taking a new piece of DOS shareware home, while my Dad was usually shopping for new creative stuff for the ol' Atari ST.
I probably spent the most time playing Jazz Jackrabbit. That game was pretty awesome, and the rabbit princess was sorta hot.

Night_Trekker: As bad as Taco Bell's Tasty Temple Challenge sounds just from the title, nothing can be worse than Mall Mania the official Pamida Video Game (not to be confused with Diva Stars: Mall Mania).
It's the only game I can think of where the object is for you and a horrible AI opponent to run around frantically in one of 5 different Pamida stores (including Future Pamida and Water Park Pamida) to pick up boxes of Tampax Tampons and Kellogs Frosted Flakes and throw them into your cart while you race around check points to the cash register.
And no, not a bit of that is exaggerrated, you really shop for Tampax in this game.

I missed the Saturday night boredom thread because I was in Bellefontaine checking out a regional heavy metal festival. The higher-card acts included All that Remains, 3 Inches of Blood, Six Feet Under and Chimaira. Each of the bands left it all on the stage, but 3ioB stole the show. Beers were only a buck apiece, so I got decidedly wasted as I was checking out some kick-ass metal while surrounded by unwashed rednecks who were twisted all to fuck on meth and having clumsy, unprotected sex in tents and making little redneck babies with brain-defects. It was a good night, to say the least.
