Yay!! numero tres. I don't blame you for refusing to do ebay- I feel the same way!

Anyway, about the red guard, is it a completely separate figure, or is it the type of thing where 1% of the robes are dyed red instead of blue? I ask, because if it were a different figure, it would probably show up on places like amazon.com, which it doesn't (at least last time I checked). Also, are you totally sure the red robed figure actually exists? Could just be some sick joke.
BTW, I was going to word this post differently, but went back and rewrote it. If I hadn't, I would have gotten the elusive first post. Guess that's what happenes when you decide to put an actual message after the "first post! woo-hoo!" and not just pound the Post This Comment button.

i went with a friend and he got the coveted darth vader toy at burger king, supposedly only 1 a box or something like that. it was probably the best day of his life.

Done the middle of the night walmart shopping spree quite a few times, last time I picked up a blacklight and two led color changing bulbs.

Hey Jeff, it is sooooo worth it to carefully post, take it from someone who has jotted in a post, and then just hit the post button. I learned my lesson after posting on the Garfield topic last night, and became a self proclaimed blog dumbass! Thankfully, Matt forgave me. (ha ha tee hee.) j/k

"Life is too easy for it to be that hard."
Wise words! That's a cute receipt.
EMajor, have you gotten a Darth V yet? After collecting 6 toys I got so sick of BK that I've stalled. I still really want all the viewmaster ones. I bet I could just hit Ebay and save the trouble.
Sometimes firsties posts go poof. Better to say something interesting and hang the post count.

I went to Toys R Us today and they had a huge display for Batman Begins. They had everything from Batmobile alarm clocks to Batgloves that make sounds when you punch(not exactly Hulk Hands but still...)
BTW Matt, have you been collecting the Burger King Star Wars toys?
Chestnuts roasted by Luap @ 06/06/2005 10:34 PM EST
I agree Matt, wholeheartedly. I drive all the way around my conglomeration of cities that are hooked together before I finally crawl to ebay, like the pathetic loser I am.
Of course I'm usually looking for movies no one but me would ever watch or out of print albums.
Recent Ebay Purchases: Blow Dry (Rachael Leigh Cook movie), 50 My Chemical Romance stickers (which I gave out for free at the concert =).
Ohhhhh and I bought Rock On Honorable Ones (Bowling for Soup record) and then the next week they released it nationally and so now it glares at me in obscene numbers everytime I go to Best Buy. But it was a gift, so I think that worked in my favor. Woohoo!!!

Kool-Aid, stickers, Kit Fisto...sounds about right.
Chestnuts roasted by The Yeti @ 06/06/2005 11:16 PM EST
I noticed on your receipt you got a kit fisto figure. I realy can't stand that character. He never does anything really cool. All he does is smile while he's killing things, and everybody loves him for that. I've asked a ton of people why they like kit fisto and nobody ever says anything except, he smiles. I hope you enjoy your figure anyway matt, it probably looks cool. I just had to rant a little aobut kit fisto.

I know it was one of my favorite sceens.
Since we are on the subject of star wars, antbody ever play the knights of the old republic games? I've been playing both of them like crazy lately. I really like the battle system, Its very efficent and easy to use. I wish the first game had more crytal colors, I really liked wielding both a silver and purple lightsaber in the second one. These games also have to be the only star wars games I have played without a death star run or hoth level, seeing how they take place 4,000 years before the movies hapen.

Hey Matt, I was just wondering if all of the older articles will still be accessable with the new layout? Will there be any sort of archive page? I love reading all of the old articles to kill some time untill the next new one.

You have not experienced Wal-Mart until you've been there at three in the morning looking for Star Wars figures....exactly what a friend and I did right after Episode II came out...
...Though I'm more into Lego Star Wars, now....Figures got too complicated for me...

Hey Everybody! (Does anyone else picture Brak?)
Squee4242: Yes, I did get a Darth Vader at BK, the first day actually. Not knowing how RARE they are, I opened it. So stupid. Could have paid for my son's college fund with that sucker. I believe it says on their cardboard box there is only two Big Bad Vader Daddy figures per box. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Oh, I remember midnight college runs with a galpal (no I'm not gay) to K-Mart and Wal-Mart. Good times, good times.
I miss a "real" Wal-Mart. AAFES isn't up to snuff. About the only new things we get around here are rap albums and DVDs.
I sure do complain alot eh?

I know whatcha mean about scouring some store late at night cuz ur bored. I think I may hafta walk on over to the local grocery store. The reason why I say "walk" is because I don't have a car. Furthermore, I'll hafta make an effort not to wake up my parents, whom I am sadly living with for now. I'm 24. I'm a loser.

Just to make everyone hate me, I happen to have 21 Clonetroopers. No, not all of them are opened- I'm saving most of them until after I've designed the custom unit decals for them.
Also, the Republic Gunship is absolutely badass. The wingspan's practically as wide as the motherloving Millenium Falcon.

1. Walmart is awesome when you are bored. Its THE place to be at 2 am! Not only is it THE place to be, its the ONLY place to be, since everything else is closed.
2. I know exactly how you feel about ebay. I refuse to use ebay because it makes it all to..I don't know, cheap. I rather find something myself somewhere and feel victorious..like I conquered the world! For example, I am in search of one of those white plastic kool-aid pitchers, well there is like 100000000000 of them on ebay, but wtf? Shouldn't there be a better and more satisfying way of getting one?
There should be, but not a single one exsists in vegas, nor does anyone I know ever see one, but one day..one day i friggin tell you I will get it.
Chestnuts roasted by the80sruled @ 06/07/2005 01:36 AM EST
Oh, by the way, I don't know what the case distribution of the Royal Guards are (I think it's a 1/1 ratio between the red and blue ones), but since only one of them comes per case anyways... you only see the red one every 2 cases. And everyone loves the red ones. I feel stupid for not getting the only red one I ever saw, but to my defense, this was the same day I bought about $60 worth of Clonetroopers.

Man, can I relate to this. I'm so desperately board (and like Nate I live with my parents and have no car), that it get's to the point where if my Mother goes to the grocery store, I desperately want to go along just to get out of the house for a few minutes.
I need to get some publicity for my site. That would solve a couple problems.
BTW Matt, I still have that tape of three bad movies I could send you if you want.

Jeff:
I played HOURS of Tie Fighter when it first came out. I had X-Wing, too, but TIE Fighter was the one that I loved. Something cool about flying for the "Bad Guys"
In those early 3-d game days, that game really sucked me in.
I bought it on PC cdrom again about two years ago, and it was fun for awhile, but then I lost interest.
Never again has there been a flight sim that I enjoyed so much...

No WalMarts here, thank X, but we have shitloads of independent toy stores on my street alone. Personally, I want the huge-ass Millenium Falcon LEGO set I saw when I was picking up that Dora the Explorer LEGO set for my cousin. Of course, since I don't have a large spare wad of green to blow, I'll probably have to settle for the $5 little Emperor's runabout thingee. But, you know, I can imagine that there's a red Royal Guard inside it. . . .

The wood loads up right quick on this here blue gumdrop. The true cure for combined boredom/need to buy useless crap is the Flea Market. Of course, as far as I know, there is no such thing as a 24-hour flea market, so late night crap purchases are not yet possible. Unless you go to one of those giant neon truckstop complexes along your local superhighway. Then, it's expensive and useless crap purchasing.

Still: DOWN WITH WAL-MART!
Chestnuts roasted by jhnnywalkr @ 06/07/2005 03:31 PM EST
Matt,
The red royal guard does in fact exist. On the day the figures were released the KB toys I went to had two of them, I picked up one initially. Then as the day wore on I didn't see any of them anywhere so I went back and picked up the second, so I'd have one loose and one in the package. The head sculpt is different from the blue guard so it is a seperate figure, although the body's are identical.
I hate to gloat but this guy is definatly worth ebay (provided the price isn't outrageous). The royal guards have the armor underneath instead of the old school plastic robe. And they have a holster for their blaster pistol. By and far I'd say he's the best figure of the ROTS line.
It also bares mention that anytime I'm anywhere that sells toys I look for them and to date I still haven't seen any since the day of release, and only in that one KB toys.
