God, this has been one heck of a flu -- which isn't to say I still have anything that'd keep me home from work if I didn't already take the week off, but there remains a lingering sense that I may fall down every time I attempt to stand. All of the normal sick-related stuff wore off late yesterday, so today was spent making myself look not-like-a-monster in hopeful prep for a New Year's Eve bash. As I'm sure anyone who has spent a week bedridden and unshaven knows, you're not exactly pretty after those first few days. I would best describe what I faced in the mirror as a highly fatigued sasquatch, something that could only be remedied by what I swear to you was a full one hour shaving session. The sink looked like an exploded dog.

Happy New Year! Matt, it is good to hear that you are putting yourself together enough to go out. Good for you! I am having people over (only 4, not a huge crowd) and they all get to spend the night. I am planning on making a killer breakfast and then sending everyone home. Should be fun!

Glad you're feeling better Matt! Don't want to bring the New Year in sick! I just wanted to say, thanks again for all of your hard work this month on the site. It truly does lift my Christmas spirit immensely, and I can't tell you how sad I was when I clicked on that last entry. It meant Christmas was really over...until next year anyway! Here's hoping you good luck in everything in the New Year!

I always seem to catch a cold at each turn of the season, with the worst being the dreaded beginning-of-summer cold. But, since I got a flu shot, my fall/winter bug was mild. And that's about the only good thing about diabetes, you get priority to get a needle jabbed in ya. I'm very uncomfortble around hypodermic needles. So guess what? Asthma, Rheumatic Fever, Diabetes, and three different time I gashed my big ol' noggin, which means needles coming at me from several angles in my life. Not many people have injuries that cater to one's phobia. You don't see a condition that requires a clean, sterilized clown during surgery, do you? Or do you?

Be safe tonight and take it easy...pushing yourself could only make it comeback

All you drivers out there make sure you have plan to get home. Leave the car at the bar and take a cab or do the smart thing like me and book a room at a hotel!
Happy new year everyone and don't drink+drive.

Happy New Year, everybody! Glad you're feeling better, Matt. Hope you don't make yourself sick again tonight. Though at least it's a different kind of sick.
My parents and my brother are going out tonight, and I have no plans...none of my friends live near me, and my boyfriend's three hours away too. So it looks like a long night of playing Final Fantasy Tactics till my thumbs bleed...sounds like a good time to me.
Everyone be safe and have a good time tonight!

Yeah, seems like everyone's been sick lately... I'm still getting over a nasty bug myself. As they say, "Ah guess it's jest that tahm of yahr!" They they prescribe downing a jug of moonshine in a single gulp as a remedy for your ails. Also doubles as a great way to ring in the new year!
Happy new year, everyone -- all the best for 2005.

I seem to have that irritating kind of sickness where you know you need to rest, but you aren't sick enough to want to. Luckily I didn't have any New Year's plans to begin with. Happy New Year anyway.

Matt, I think you somehow gave me the flu, even though I don't think we live anywhere near each other
happy new year!

Man, everyone's fricken sick. I just caught the flu which has left me bed-ridden eight hours today. Currently I'm in a pretty drugged state and I'm having trouble typing cause I can't feel my fingers. Tis sucks.

I haven't been sick since ... well, I had a real nasty week-long plague a few months back, and I swear I'm STILL feeling the remnants of it, but we won't go there.
I have had some pretty horrible headaches though, of late. I've concluded that it's just work-related. Seems I'm ok when I'm not there or thinking about it too much. Inventory starts Monday.
Can't wait till it's OVER!
Well, one good thing happened as I stayed an hour and a half late today at work. I got a free jar of that Van Helsing Monster Guts, a not-so-great Gundam figurine, and 4 cute, tiny rolls of tape.
Just one of the perks of being a TRU employee. B) (pffft!)
Hope everyone has a safe evening, and I hope you wake up feeling super spiffy tomorrow, Matt!

My sister has had a nasty flu over the week as well- she's almost unable to sleep every night because she's coughing so badly.
And yes, Farfetch'd effin' rules.

I've been fighting a bug all week too, obviously I'm in a lot of good company.
(My favorites are Marrowhack and Cubone, but I always use Pikachu in Super Smash Bros.)

Happy 2005!! Had my New Years 14 hours earlier than most of you blog-posters, being here in Korea. I had a great time at a house party, and hope all of you have similar good times with your evenings. It SAYS 3:50 AM or so for this post, but for me it is actually 5:50 PM New Years Day, and I've already slept the worst of the hangover off.

I guess I should have told this story earlier (if at all). Speaking of holiday illnesses, I threw up on my bed Christmas Eve '92 (did not have time to run to the trash or toliet obviously). What was a thirteen year old to do but take the sheets off and try to go back to bed. Gross? Yes. True? Yes. Relevant? Who is to say?
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

That's really bad. On the other hand, you were well enough to write this:

What a shitty time of year to get sick!
Chestnuts roasted by Mike @ 01/01/2005 04:49 PM EST
No kidding, Mike. Matt, I sincerly hope you at least don't feel the flu on this first day of 2005. I spent most of the day enjoying the suddenly and amazing gorgeous (at least mid-60s) weather that suddenly popped up, with and without the friend I spent New Year's Eve with. We had a nice time, making pizza and drinking sparkling juice while watching videos, then going out for breakfast this morning.
Chestnuts roasted by starwenn @ 01/01/2005 07:20 PM EST
Hope you were feelin much better last night Matt. Cause that would be pretty shitty to bring in new years sick as a dog! Anyhow, all I really wanted to say for now. So I'll just finish off by saying, hope everyone here had a safe New Years, and am looking forward to the things to come on X-E in 2005!

Chestnuts roasted by Sara @ 01/02/2005 02:20 AM EST
Cheer up Sara, I spent my New Year's down the road from Canisteo and the only available entertainment involved a dish to pass wedding reception at an American Legion. Anything's got to be better than that.

kidneyboy, you still out there? I spent NYE reading the last Dark Tower book. I've heard a lot of people complain about the ending, but I thought it was fitting. Really, the only way it could have ended. Although, I think the battle w/ Mordred could have lasted longer and been a bit more dramatic. Email me and we can talk about it more, if you want.
