I can’t say when Hershey’s got the bright idea, but certainly, super-sized Kisses have been around for many years – perhaps longer than a decade – and lest you think it’s impossible, rest assured, this is a precisely crafted and perfectly solid Hershey’s Kiss, just like the little ones. Standing nearly four inches tall and even longer in width, it’s a marvelous display of chocolate that nobody could possibly eat in a sitting. Wrapped in the same colored foil as their smaller cousins, the super-sized Kisses are likewise topped with little “Hershey’s” banners in crumply paper. If you’re groggy and someone puts one in your palm, you’ll swear you got a lot smaller overnight.
One of the topics X-Entertainment has covered in this very space over the past few weeks has been stocking stuffers. What to buy, where to find it, who to give them to, yadda yadda. Well, for those ends, you really can’t go wrong a mighty fist-sized Hershey’s Kiss. The foil wrappers come in silver, green and red, because let’s face it, trivial as it may be, everyone has their favorite Hershey’s Kiss wrapper color. We’re a simple society, and we love our chocolate. If desired, these magnificent bulbs of dark magic can be found at most pharmacies. Why pharmacies? I have absolutely no idea. Some things are better left unexplained.

Yeah 1st Baby! I had one of these things when I was little. The chocolate gets gross after a day.

Woohoo! #2! Those giant kisses have been around for as long as I can remember, so that's at least 20 years. I never had a whole one myself- not that I ever tried. That has to be, what, 3000 calories there?

Even with my Diabetes, I would eat that sucker, and try to do it in one sitting! I loves me some chocolate.

Wow! 4th? I've never been this far up in the eschelon of blog postings.
I have never seen one of those big kisses before, but I would buy it in a heartbeat! (I'd buy the original silver wrapper, too)

Anyway, off-topic but seeing as how you're a huge Star Wars fan, Matt, check out the link below. Interesting and a little weird:

Damn, that's a big Hersey's Kiss. I've always seen those things in the stores around the holidays, but didn't want to spend the money to get one. Speaking of Kisses though. I've been workin for over a year now on a foil ball (like on Pee Wee's Playhouse) I've always attempted it over the years..but would give up on it after time. This time I've been keepin the ball, and it's slowly getting bigger. Only thing is though, I'm only using Hershey's Kiss wrappers...so years from now when it's gotten huge and i've lost all my teeth from all the chocolate i ate to make it...everyone will come to see my big ball
(yes I have WAY too much time on my hand when I'm not writing!) Goin off topic loving the advent calendar, you've made my (and i'm sure other peoples) holiday a happy one instead of a depressing one for those who've lost our x-mas spirit!

My god, that is such a cliff-hanger. Now I have to wait to see what they are going to transform tomorrow's gift into, AND it looks like Santa's impending doom is coming closer!
I'm surprised some people haven't heard of the Hersehy kiss. That is the stock "I don't know what to get for teacher, aunt, boss, etc." present around there parts.
Chestnuts roasted by Y2JB78 @ 12/17/2004 12:05 PM EST
Matt, is that giganto Kiss milk or dark chocolate? Cuz if it's dark chocolate I'll take your bet that you can't eat it in one sitting.

I usually only see this at Sam's Club, but I've seen them sell a 5 pound Herhsey chocolate bar for about $12-15. Never bought it though.

I like those chocolate oranges that you have to smack on a table separate the slices. I'm not sure whether those are sold all year or not, but they feel very Christmas to me.

I love the giant hershey kiss. My personal favorite though is the Giant and I mean GIANT Hershey bar. It is about 2 feet long and about an inch thick. It is a normal hershey bar with a glandular problem.
That is good eating. It does cost around 30 bucks though.
My thoughts are that Kitty is going to eat the super food and kill everybody. Then open the presents until the 24 where the bomb will blow up releasing a mutated santa to give noogies and wet willy's to the good children and a flamethrower to all the bad children. >8-)

Sometimes I joke that I'd like to have site's child...which is odd cause I don't have a uterus. I could make one out of silly putty and popsicle sticks, but according to biology textbooks, that's not how it works.

I bet if you were groggy and someone put a super-size Hershey's kiss in one palm and a mini bottle of alcohol in the other, your head would probably explode from the freakiness of it all. But, that's just me.

I'm tired (been running around Christmas shopping and getting TO Christmas shopping since 9AM today), so I'm just going to say - awesome work on the Advent Calender, as usual. I'm looking forward to seeing how big a kitty-cat can get from eating food given to it by a Krang-relation, and finding out how Mare and her boys use that little wand.
Chestnuts roasted by starwenn @ 12/18/2004 01:04 AM EST
OK. So I'm leaving in about five hours, and I have nothing to do. Well...I still have to pack, but that'll take me a whole 30 minutes. Damn.
And to think that I'll probably have to wait awhile before anything at the airport opens up. I mean, personally, I'm not so hot on the gift shops, but I have no doubt that I'll be taking my time at the bars. There's just something about sitting and tlaking with complete strangers that you'll never see again while enjoying a good pint.
Starwenn- Her boys. I never knew they were Mare's boys. Chicka bwah wah...chicka bwah wah...

Nate- Have a good trip. I'm jealous that you get to go home for the holidays. Xmas just doesn't FEEL the same in Korea, even though I DID watch "Muppet Family Xmas" last night (I made my parents mail it to me from Canada). That helped.
Hope the wand works for Mare- I'm curious to see what she does with it. Hopefully SOMETHING turns Kitty into Battle-Cat!

Here' hoping one of Matt's actual cats makes a cameo in the Advent calender this year. "That cat food contains radioactive steroids! Look what it did to that test cat! He's a mutant at 24 inches and 5 lbs! Only Godzilla can save us!"
Ahem. So anyway, what video games is everyone hoping for this year? Mini traj #1 wants Shrek II (a pretty cool game for littler kids, esp since it's multiplayer and actually pretty easy to beat) and Mario Party 6. For some reason, Mario Party 5 and 6 both cost $49, which doesn't make sense to me. Who's going to buy 5 when they can get 6 at the same price? A-der-der-der.
Chestnuts roasted by trajeal @ 12/18/2004 09:11 AM EST
trajeal: My family isn't giving gifts this year because we are taking a HUGE, expensive trip to Williamsburg.
But If we were, Metroid Prime 2 would've been on my list (I bought it on release day instead), and probably a few GBA games.

Oh, they are most certainly her boys. I find it refreshing that for once, being on the "good" team doesn't preclude one from enjoying hot, polyamorous sex.
Totally unrelated, but X-E is the 5th result on Google for "It's A Trap". Don't look at me like I'm crazy; I have my reasons for Ackbar related searches...

Ahh I remember my first giant Hershey's kiss. I was nearly eight years-old and was on my first trip to Disney World. However the happiness of a trip to Disney World was besmirched by the fact that I had to miss out on Halloween trick or treating due to the date of the trip. Come Halloween night, we were newly arrived in Florida, hadn't really done anything "Disney Worldish" yet and I was in the depths of despair after seeing all the happy Floridian kids trick or treating merrily about Orlando (my halloween costume was too bulky to pack, and would have been too hot to wear in Florida). Hoping to cheer me up somewhat, my parents bought me a crap-load of candy at what I'm sure was a ridiculously overpriced shop. I can remember I had a lot of pixii stix, and one giant Hershey's Kiss. It still didn't come close to a good night of trick or treating, but the giant Hershy Kiss came close!
That would have been back in 1987, so the Giant Kisses have definitely been around for well over ten years.
