Marcus looks like Doc Brown giving head
Chestnuts roasted by Kristal....again @ 09/26/2004 02:24 PM EST
The Doc Brown comment made me forgive Kristal for the 1st post stuff.

I have to return from my interminable silence to give my opinion that that is THE BEST DAMN THING I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME (capital letters for emphasis--hey, I just wrote a thesis).
I have to ask Matt--will you take Marcus in after Hallowe'en, or will his Xmas lights come in inappropriately handy for a later, up coming holiday?
Better yet, he should be hooked up to MoonRays sidewlak lights, so that he lights up as soon as it is dark (unless he has his own sensor).
And one more thing--here in Canada, we won't be able to give thanks on Thanksgiving for his Hallowe'en powers--we'll have already sacrificed pumpkins and turkeys in the name of gratuity by mid-October. November is for poppies.

If I had a lawn, I know what I'd be spending 15 dollars on. Hell, I might buy one anyway.

A person who lives down the block ffrom me has something that reminds me of Marcus the Carcas- a ghost with hands sticking out of the ground. Marcus looks cooler, though.
Chestnuts roasted by Skroob @ 09/26/2004 02:38 PM EST
Arent his hands the wrong way round?
Chestnuts roasted by Yeah @ 09/26/2004 02:38 PM EST
I noticed that too... his hands and feet are on the wrong sides... but he looks damn cool anyways...
Chestnuts roasted by Wolfwood @ 09/26/2004 02:44 PM EST
Yes. Good observation. :-P
Chestnuts roasted by Candice @ 09/26/2004 02:45 PM EST
Love it. Just love it.
Chestnuts roasted by Shelby @ 09/26/2004 02:49 PM EST
Add a few sticky pad thingys to him and hang the whole thing on your front door for added affect.
Its probly too late but Mat needs to get the Rapping Reaper they have at my local CVS. It just calls out XE. And I mean that too, one of them was out of batteries and only could make a strange "eeeeeexxxxxx......eeeeee..." souns.
Chestnuts roasted by Mr Mango @ 09/26/2004 02:58 PM EST
Matt, you should put Marcus in the manger with Santa this Christmas, and maybe put baby jesus in between his hands.
Chestnuts roasted by Gnarkill @ 09/26/2004 03:35 PM EST
Try putting his hands and feet on the correct sides next time, or at least make some comment about it, so we know you did it on purpose and didn't just put them wrong because you are a retard... But anyway, it's a cool decoration, the face is too cartoony, though, would have liked something more on the "realistic" side...
Chestnuts roasted by Your freaking mom @ 09/26/2004 05:05 PM EST
Hmm...as much as I love Marcus the Carcass (especially since he shares a name with my dad, wonder what he'd say to that), I think he's taking over. Every link to the Sept. 25 AND Sept. 26 articles leads to Marcus...even though yesterday's all say they go to the Lucky Charms article.
Are you punishing me for missing a day?
Chestnuts roasted by Mara @ 09/26/2004 05:19 PM EST
Awesome
Chestnuts roasted by Bob @ 09/26/2004 05:40 PM EST
Help! I didn't check yesterday, and any of the links to the Spooky Lucky Charms article that I click send me to Marcus the Carcass! I'm gonna read that article now, but it really bothers my OCD tendencies to read them out of order.
Chestnuts roasted by jhnnywalkr @ 09/26/2004 05:49 PM EST
Thanks Mara -- it's fixed now.
Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 09/26/2004 06:00 PM EST
He looks cool. He reminds me of the last time I went trick-or-treating (and as I've mentioned before, that was the best Halloween ever), and there was this ine house that had what looked like a hanged-zombie-decoration holding a pail in its hand. It was strung up on a tree right near the walk-way entrance, and as we began to make our way up it, the thing moved, holding out the pail and grunting "Happy Halloween!" For a moment there, he scared me so shitless that I nearly punched the dude out! But nonetheless, I liked the prank. Besides, the pail was full of good candy for me to choose from, so that made up for all the trauma.
Matt- Is that newspaper thing really true? And I SO remember that whole thing from Mad Dog McCree. What I especially liked was when the game was over and the undertaker went ahead and said "Looks like you're gonna hafta put more money intha thing." I thought it was hilarious back then.

Chestnuts roasted by Ant @ 09/26/2004 07:50 PM EST
Apparently, whoever buried Marcus was worried he might suffocate.

no the hands and feet are just like Matt's

We've had a Marcus for a couple of years now. Let me tell you, he scares the crap out of little kids. It's great. Cover the wires with leaves, and he looks really cool. And he adds a nice glow to the rotting pumpkins in the rock garden.
Chestnuts roasted by Peg @ 09/26/2004 09:24 PM EST
Honestly, I'm more scared by those wires because they look like they'd be fine for indoor Christmas tree lights, but they look a little flimsy for outdoor use, like they'd almost be an eletricution risk when it's raining.
Of course, assuming the Sienna (?) corporation has lawyers, I haven't actually tested the wires and I would imagine that they are completely outdoor safe, I was only saying that the wires *look* flimsy compared to the wires for outdoor Christmas decorations. I don't think we've ever had any electrical Hallowe'en decorations other than a skeleton with battery-powered eyes (and a picture of a jack o' lantern my father did on a Commodore Vic 20), so I by no means consider myself to be an expert on Hallowe'en decoration safety.
Changing the subject, is it only Canadians who keep the apostrophe in "Hallowe'en"? The lack of apostrophe in the way it's spelled in pop culture these days bothers me a tiny bit, not that it's Matt's fault that "Halloween" is more widespread.

WARNING! Marcuss might rub LEAD off onto you Matt!
You see, down at K-Mart, they have their halloween brand called Totally Ghoul (read the bottoms of the boxes and says it was manufactured by K-Mart)
Now WHAT does this have to do with your "SIENNA" Marcus the Carcus?
K-Mart through their own Totally Ghoul line have their OWN Marcus the Carcus with the SAME NAME that rubs off lead!!!
Almost or entirely ALL of K-Mart's Totally Ghoul products that are electronic GIVE YOU LEAD! They say to wash your hands after using them. The other, non-electronic stuff don't say this obviously, but makes you wonder what safety they skipped on THOSE!
Don't know about their blow-up Christmas tent-like ballons that use a blower to constantly fill them with air, I'll have to check when the storm lets up (I live around Tampa and the storm Jeanne's above me, so not too much to worry about here. Feel sorry for the folks above me though)
Don't know if this applies to YOUR brand Matt, but better safe than sorry. I can't remember if they look simliar or are exactly the same. I'll check as soon as I can.
Chestnuts roasted by Aarron Jawors @ 09/26/2004 09:50 PM EST
Matt, I like how you made the hands and feet on Marcus The Carcass look backwards.

"We've finally been blessed with an affordable lawn corpse." Matt, I love you!!!
Chestnuts roasted by bestlineever!!!! @ 09/26/2004 10:39 PM EST
Matt, Maybe you should put a knife and some stage blood in the middle of Marcus and a noose around his neck. That will scare the sh*t outta the people walking by. ALso, have you ever been to landoverbaptist.org? It's this hillarious website that makes fun of the religious right. It seems to offend some people, but I like it.
PS. I have a little poll for everyone. Here it goes: What do you think is the most god-awful video game of all time?
Tootles!
Chestnuts roasted by TOM @ 09/26/2004 11:16 PM EST
My brother and I have used 3 Marcuses (or is it Marcusii?) in our huge graveyard display every year (along with dozens of other corpses, werewolves, 8ft pumpkins, etc). Sometimes we have them in front of a tombstone or poking out from a piles of leaves and last year we had one peeking out of a coffin. They never fail to please. (And Matt, it usually takes me a couple of times to get all of the hands and feet lined up properly each time...)
Chestnuts roasted by hobeybaker @ 09/26/2004 11:53 PM EST
Interesting. I've heard of those types of things before, but never knew the brand names. Oh, New Mexico zip codes start with 8, not 4. A 4 code would put it Marcus' nightclub in Michigan or Ohio.
Chestnuts roasted by Andrew @ 09/27/2004 01:39 AM EST
I bet you could take an old pair of black pants and a white shirt, partially bury them in formation between Marcus' hands and feet, and then stuff whatever was sticking out with leaves, to make it look like more of his (non-glowing but still 3-D) body was coming out of the ground, too. Of course, that sounds like a lot of work, and dirty work at that. You'd probably have to use an actual shovel. Never mind.
Chestnuts roasted by trajeal @ 09/27/2004 07:06 AM EST
Do you think the "special people" at Sienna could have used green or brown wiring for the lights? That would have saved you the trouble of having to cover the stupid things. Oh well... better luck next time, Sienna.
Chestnuts roasted by bLaCkNbLuE @ 09/27/2004 07:21 AM EST
Dear Andrew,
Who gives a $h!t?
Chestnuts roasted by Evan @ 09/27/2004 08:22 AM EST
Is it just me, or does the expression on Marcus' face make him look like the most laid-back, relaxed dead guy ever? It's like he's just taking a quick swim in the dirt to chill. Nothing gets to this Carcass.
Chestnuts roasted by Sargasm @ 09/27/2004 11:19 AM EST
You could just drop one of those animated headstones inna middle of Marcus. Like the cross from Wal-Mart that rocks back-and-forth when somebody walks by.
Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 09/27/2004 11:45 AM EST
Now I wish I didn't live on the third floor.
My neighbour has one of them big rocks as a decoration in his front yard, I wonder if the wires would go all around? With some old pants legs and shirt sleeves tucked under the edge of the rock, it would look as if Marcus had been crushed under a big rock. Maybe I'll talk to my neighbour next time I see him, instead of going passed him with my "I'm renting and you own the house" inferiority complex.
I could probably enlist my husband to steal the rock, but the neighbour might notice.
Chestnuts roasted by Yzziefrog @ 09/27/2004 06:24 PM EST
Hey Matt, I just picked up my own Marcus at the local Target. He was only $10. My only complaint is his hair sheds like mad. It looks like a Muppet exploded on my carpet.
Chestnuts roasted by ToeKnee @ 09/27/2004 09:18 PM EST
You do realize that Marcus's hands and feet are backwards, right? I just don't want all your gullible neighborhood children to instantly spot that the corpse isn't real before it has the chance to make them pee their costumes.
Chestnuts roasted by Skeen @ 09/28/2004 03:41 PM EST
dude, why are his hands on the wrong side of his body?

Chestnuts roasted by Sweetie @ 09/29/2004 01:59 PM EST
I bought a Marcus 3 years ago except it is brown. It scares the crap out of the kids. It's the only thing we put out anymore.
Chestnuts roasted by E @ 09/29/2004 04:03 PM EST
Where does one buy one of these things (in Canada)?
Chestnuts roasted by Mike @ 09/30/2004 09:39 AM EST
For those who asked, I've seen Marcus sold at most department stores and a few pharmacies. He shouldn't be too much trouble to find.
Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 09/30/2004 09:43 AM EST
A corpse is a corpse, of course, of course. And no one can talk to a corpse of couse.
Chestnuts roasted by kingklash @ 10/01/2004 02:02 PM EST
I couldnt help but notice... are his hands backwards? lol, oh well, we still love good old creepy arse marcus
Chestnuts roasted by Pohl @ 10/01/2004 02:29 PM EST

We've have called a friend of mine "Marcus the Carcass" for years ... needless to say, this was an easy purchase at the store - normally I wait for the 50-90% off sales after the Holidays.
I had to give him away ... but maybe next year I'll incorporate him into my halloween lights/webcam - see http://www.komar.org/halloween/
