Let's see: I'm underage, there's no Cookie Puss in Las Vegas (As far as I know), and I've no clue where the blender is (Wouldn't matter much, I can't find a single ice cream brand around here even remotely worthy of being Texas' own Bluebell Ice Cream's rival). Matt, do you know what you just did? You made me crave Shamrock Shakes! Now I'm going to have to go down to McDonald's tomorrow and celebrate St. Patty's Day by buying one! It'll be a nice replacement for green beer, since liquor of any color does not agree with me.
I am a quarter Irish (but I'm also a quarter of most of Western Europe), so I at least have a tentative reason for celebrating the holiday. It'll mostly just be an excuse to buy myself a Shamrock Shake and gorge on Irish Potatoes.
You say you've never heard of the wee Irish Potatoes? Why, they are the most heavenly confections since that edible icing snowman that came with Matt's Winter Kid Cuisine frozen dinner. They are merely powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and coconut covered with cinnamon, and they're only avalible from after Valentine's Day to mid-March. Like other seasonal candies, the grocery stores always have lots of leftovers. I must have bought at least five or six boxes of the things from after-the-holiday sales last year.

I hate Saint Patrick’s Day. Why you ask? I work at a catering that specializes in holiday parties. The weekend that had just passed was an early tribute to Saint Patrick’s Day. I had six tables (ten people each table) on Friday Saturday and Sunday of drunkard fools.
The buffet was Coors light with some white Russians topped with a sweet tall whiskey. Drinking Irish coffee and forty 6-packs of dyed green beer was the main course. While all the customers of mine were beet red throwing soda bread at me yelling orders into my ear
I was trying my best to carry the heavy trays that were stacked to its maximum balance point of empty beer bottles through a gauntlet of standing Irish men. Not to say I hate Irish people, but I sure hate to wait on the ones that get drunk and lay on the table. HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!

Okay, sure, Uncle O'Grimacey is obscure, but does anyone remember that alien guy with the loads of arms? I think his name was CosMc or something along those lines. I seem to be the only one who remembers this short lived character. When I was a kid I had the whole set of Remco McDonaldLand toys and the McDonaldland playest which I inherited from my cousins, and when CosMc hit the scene I was so enamoured with the idea of a CosMc action figure to join the rest of the McD's crew. Alas, the toys had been discontinued shortly before my birth, so my wait was fruitless. To this very day it tears me up inside.

I used to work in the floral shop of my local grocery and I have had to dye many a carnation. We spray special floral spray paint on a piece of plastic and smear the flower in it. Its fun when you have a lot of them cause you get a good buzz, even when you try not to inhale.

Hey Guys! Long time no post! I've suffered from a lack of internet access lately, which is the reason why.
I'm currently taking a bartending class and so for St. Patty's day we're going out for a pint of Guinness with our instructor. After that, my buddy and I (who's also taking the class) are going to a friend's house for even more Irish beer.

And yes, St. Patty's day is awesome in Boston because of Evacuation day. I work outside of Boston, but because of the awful traffic to get into the city,it normally takes me an hour to get to work, but since it is Evacuation day, it only took me 20 minutes, even with the 8 inches of snow we got last night! Woo!

Here in Reno, Fitzgerald's Casino goes all-out on St. Pattie's Day, and since the world-famous Reno Arch is right outside their front door, the city does its part by changing the light bulbs to green ones (someone's gettin' a kickback, I guess).
Personally, though, I think the green glow cast over the street at night makes me feel like I've been teleported into the Paris Hilton sex tape. Not good times, unless you count Fitz's promotions...free stuff is cool.

I know that the word 'Leprechaun' is taboo on this site today in lieu of Cookie O'Puss, but I couldn't help but be surprised to find the timeless and epic Leprechaun movies to be absent from the list of the St. Patty's Day fun. Granted, we've heard plenty about them in previous blogs, but on the one day when it is appropriate to give the seminal 4-part series its day in the sun (it mercifully stopped at 4, right, when he went into space?), not to mention a rare and fleeting chance to bring Jennifer Aniston back down to earth, I'm sad to see it sorely neglected. Nevertheless, O'Grimacy and O'Puss are plenty Irish to set the mood. Cheers, ye ol' lads and ladies!

Somewhere, on my Choctaw side, there is a not-really-talked-about Irish ancestor. The only thing that keeps him/her from being totally unknown is the red highlights in our hair. My Granddad was afraid that one of us would be born a complete redhead, so whomever it was had to be a relatively recent addition in the line. Native American with a touch of Irish? Dude, it's a CATHOLIC holiday that happens to be affiliated with Ireland. We Italians have got as much a right to celebrate it as anybody else. Secondly, WFRR is my favorite movie of all time, so that joke was a total home run, but the one that really made me burst out laughing in the middle of the silent computer lab was "a McDonaldland reject with a walking stick that doesn't reach the floor". I don't know why, but that's comedy gold. Thirdly, I think those are giant stereotypical Irish sideburns on ol' Cookie O'Puss, although the more I look at it the more it does look like he has stunted, ridiculous T-Rex arms.

2) Someone requested an Italian St. Paddy's-type holiday? In some major US cities (like San Francisco and New York) Italians use Columbus Day like that, parade and ev'rything. i don't know why. Didn't you guys blow him off so that he had to go to Spain for backing?

By the way, the Scots get Burns day. I'm from Dublin, live in Edinburgh. On Burns day, I cooked haggis and drank Lagavulin malt whisky... Paddy's day was spent drinking cans of Guinness, eating coddle and watching Celtic play on telly.
