09/01/2003 Entry: "<3 Cold."

Ahhh...a nice, calm, cool, rainy, ghastly, extremely wet Labor Day. We're definitely ready for autumn over here -- the dead leaves, the hot cider, the passable reasons to filter through yard sales on the hunt for Freezy Freakies gloves...so much good stuff all wrapped up in a season that isn't conductive to sweating or running the car's AC for ten minutes before actually getting into it. I'm sure the Gods of Weather will throw a few more inappropriately hot days at us before Stupid Summer™ officially dies out, but shit happens.

Both named Matt. Both have an 80's fetish. Both have a strange urge for this season to end. Shit is getting scary. Mad Matt-esque scary.

Giant Ape Juice.

Levis are out of style right now, which is what makes them so stylish.

::perk:: Saved by the Bell DVD box set~? holy Screechness~!

Hey Matt - When you buy new toys, do you leave them in the package or take them out? I just picked up Samurai Skeletor and Leonardo, and I can't decide if I should admire their beautiful boxes, or take them out and fondle them.

Chestnuts roasted by i was a lion @ 09/01/2003 05:37 PM EST

Fondle 'em Lion! Toys are for playing, not for showing. Sure, you can't re-sell them later, but then, what will you do with the money? Buy more toys to not paly with? Pop those babys out! I just got "Flame Armor Skeletor" Myself and I couldn't be happier with it out of it's box. The fun of Skell bashing Swamp Thing over the head then having Kane set him on fire can't be matched. Just my thought though.

By the by, Outwar help?

After the day I had at work (we had a gorgeous, hot, sunny Labor Day in southern New Jersey - frankly, I would have preferred a cold one, if it scared the obnoxious old people in the tour busses away), all I can say to Matt's blog is...I'm definetly ready for fall, too. Amen to fall.

Incidentally, I always take my toys out of the package. What good are they if you can't play with them? Besides, the boxes take up too much room.

Whatever happened to the Advent Calendar? You put some kind of teaser with a big distorted & chopped figure of what appeared to be a Santa figure...

Advent Calendars make me sad now.

Chestnuts roasted by Jake @ 09/01/2003 08:58 PM EST

Well, I'm not like a 'collector' or anything, I'm not worried about reselling them later. I just think the boxes look awesome, and I hate to rip them up.

It seems like by now one of these toy companies should have invented packaging that you can open without destroying. They should have resealable boxes that you can take the toy in and out of.

Chestnuts roasted by i was a lion @ 09/01/2003 09:40 PM EST

Neatly Riped boxes make me happy
Only when there not Xtreem nija turtles those boxes should be burned with the action figues inside

Lucky, I wish it was nice and cool here in Nashville, but no, God keeps the blowtorch on us til about late October.

Chestnuts roasted by Stealthy Warrior @ 09/02/2003 12:43 AM EST

it stormed so strongly here that 3 of our light bulbs exploded, then five minuites later the sun was out. DAMN IDAHO! I'm not a lover of summer but I HATE FALL. DEATH TO FALL! Why can't it just be spring again?

Chestnuts roasted by brandon @ 09/02/2003 01:30 AM EST

I remember that green Levis guy I have a comic book ad of him somewhere. My labor day was boring I went to a crowded electronics store and left b/c it was too crowded. And it was about 90 degrees in So Cal today. More like summer it doesn't even begin to be like fall here until October.

Chestnuts roasted by spazzamatic @ 09/02/2003 11:56 AM EST

oh yeah , this summer was crap , 114 degrees in the shade , i'm ready for some snow , heck maybe another ice age

Chestnuts roasted by snake @ 09/02/2003 02:15 PM EST

Worked through labor day. Labor day for me means labor... oh well. Hey Jared, do you have bad spelling on purpose? Anyone from Canada ever had a "La Fin du Monde"
(the end of the world beer)? I hadn't had one in a few years, I
think I'm pissed.

I think Mcfarlen makes resealable action figure packages now. I thought unicron would be bigger. I didn't get him. The end.

I was watching a documentary on cleavege, for purely educational purposes, on the History Channel yesterday. Turns out that there was a Skipper doll that had growing breasts. Since this is useless information about a Mattel product I figured why not post it here.

http://www.jcsetc.com/Barbie_News.htm
Skipper's first appearance:
The original Skipper, Barbie's little sister was first introduced in 1964. She was devoid of breasts. In 1975, Growing-Up Skipper appeared. She was 9½" tall with fluffy blonde hair, she was different than a run of the mill Skipper in that when you cranked her left arm backwards she gre ¾" and breasts emerged. "Two dolls in one!", the product box proclaimed. This doll was popular enough to be produced through 1977, amid a certain amount of controversy. Growing-Up Skipper spawned a sequel: "Growing-Up Ginger".

Oh, do most X-Entertainment readers like autumn best? I certainly do, but I'm a tad biased because my birthday is October 2nd, meaning I always got an early crack on the new toys just as they were arriving in the stores in anticipation of the Christmas rush (not that what I wanted was always in stores in time for my birthday, but, more often than not, yes). Well, I also appreciate that hayfever season is over by the end of September, and I love the cooler nights for great sleeping and setting the clock back, as well as the new TV season, the leaves, Thanksgiving (in October where I am... Canada), Hallowe'en candies, and, increasingly, I can take watching some football, if it's a more exciting game.

Matt-

I was looking in my old tape box after reading the top 11 video game toons and I found of all things a tape with seven full episodes of the Super mario super show complete with comercials! They even had the comercial for the box of Pops with the bogglin stamper promotion.
The weirest thing however is it had a comercial for a show called the New adventures of He-Man. It had him set on a new planet with a new voice and a very odd looking hair cut. It was the first time I have ever heard of this show and I want to know if anyone else has ever heard of this show and has any info on it.

Ill make a list later of all the differnt comercials in case you want a copy of any of them.

It starts raining in Memphis on September 1 and quits on June 1. I hate any day that isn't hot enough to water-ski, even though I don't water-ski anymore.

I remember that "other" He-Man show. This may sound blasphemous, but I actually liked that version of skeletor better. He wasn't just a typical, cackling "evil" guy, but he was something of a smartass, if I recall.
I never had any, but there was a line of toys too.
