The best way to "swerve" it to make it make sense is to somehow change the storyline to say that Kane BELIEVED he was horribly burned in the fire and that every time he looks in the mirror, he sees a charred, remnant of what used to be a human face. I also had no idea there were people on this site who watch wrestling.

Considering it's been months since you had a wrestling-related article or mentioned anything wrestling-related, I figured you stopped watching all together. I don't blame you. It seems like the WWE gets worst everyday and has no idea how to change it. It's been going on since they fucked up the WCW InVasion storyline. I still watch because I still have hope that they MAY change it. Plus they got some great wrestlers.

That being said, I was VERY disappointed with the Kane unmasking. It looks like they just rubbed ash on his face. How is that suppose to represent "scarred beyond reconition"? What the fuck? It looks like they spent only five minutes on the makeup if you can even call it that.

If you want to see some great wrestling, I recommend NWA: TNA. The storylines aren't that great but the wrestling is incredible.

I also recommend Ring of Honor and the Japaneese companies, Big Japan and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

And for whoever said the WWE should get Vince Russo back--this is the same guy who made Vince McMahon the "Higher Power". He also gave us multiple swerves, had Vince McMahon win the 1999 Royal Rumble, pushed Triple H, gave us "Attitude", and did alot of crappy storylines and characters during his run. I think the WWE is better off WITHOUT Russo as 2000 WWF proved. I rather he not ruin the WWE more.

I wouldnt be so tough on the writing staff, or Russo. Aside from Vince McMahon winning the royal rumble, Attitude was pretty good, and truth is Vince is responcable as well as his daughter stephanie for most of the crappy story lines as she slowly wrapped her daddy around her pinky finger. Russo, like Paul E were put into "sit on your ass at home" consultation jobs where they would never get called for storyline, Russo went to NWA and whenever he isnt sticking his face in the camera its a damn good product. if anyone is to blame for bad storyline its Stephanie (remember the necrophilia angle?)

Take some time, goto WWE's writer recruitment sometime and read what your required to do.... or not do.

If they'd been smart they could have spun it in a cool way. Just give him a small scar, and say that his whole life Paul Bearer had beaten the idea into him that he was hideous and had to wear the mask or people would have feared and hated him as a mutilated freak. Then when the mask comes off, people realize he's not so bad.

Course with Paul Bearer long gone, it would have been tough to pull off. But either way, it would have been better than rubbing some charcoal on his face.

Well, they've been wanting to turn Kane heel for a while, and we all know that in pro wrestling, ugly equals evil. I don't think that Kane's character will suffer too much. What I am concerned about, though, is that this may affect my favorite wrestler, Rob Van Dam. RVD should've been the champion a long time ago, but now he'll be stuck in a feud with another big guy who cannot keep up with his awesome in ring abilities.

That black paint has always been there. It is not part of the burn thing, they just have it there for the effect, to make the eyes darker, he has always had the black paint there. It is not suppose to be ash or suit. The Hurrican also has that, just effect to make the mask a part of the face.
I think they should go with the whole Paul Bearer made you think you were ugly thing, it could help the heel turn. I also think he should shave the rest of his head.

Well I was sure the WWE would fuck that whole angle up like they have the tendencey of doing with every good character they have. Why not... they killed the Undertaker why not focus on offing his "Brother". They should have let Kane capture the belt, turn heel, go on a long reign, cuz even as a heel he would be better than triple h, then show case kane as an unstoppable monster that evn goldberg couldn't stop, and maybe the ratings would go up again.

I noticed Slaughter. I also noticed (again as I've seen it for a while) how HUGE Foley is these days. After reviewing last night's RAW, I think they may actually make this an interesting angle with Kane. And as far as HHH goes, if he didn't go out and make his own title, they wouldn't need to leave it on him for this long to give it cred. They could have had it change hands a while ago to someone with more in-ring ability. While I agree that a title constantly changing hands does kill it's cred, having someone who completely sucks as the champ does just as much to damage it (and this is coming from someone who used to be a HUUUUUUUUGE HHH fan).
