clay and ruben both kicked ass... and although ruben was a better "pop star", clay was a better singer. not like it matters, they both got record deals, and like simon said, the real fight will begin when their albums hit stores the same week...

The latest scoop is that the vote was either completely off or completely fixed. Personally, I've thought it's been at least somewhat rigged from very early on in the season -- a lot of stuff didn't seem right.

In the end, though, the right two made it to the finals. I'm not sure they'll be able to pull this all off as effectively for a third straight year, but we'll see.

OK, so Ruben won... BUT. They (Ruben and Clay) both got record deals, and their albums are debuting the same week.

So what did Ruben get for winning American Idol other than the title of American Idol? I kind of wondered the same thing about Kelly Clarkson last year. She was the American Idol, but she hasn't done a damned thing since then without Guarini attached to her hip; he might as well have won, or they might as well have not declared an American Idol because the runner up is just as well off as the actual winner. If I were Kelly Clarkson or Ruben Studdard, I'd be pissed off.

I was not a rabid Idol watcher, but I was rooting for Ruben. Clay has an amazing talent, but he has stated that he just wants to go back to teaching anyway. (riiiight)
The main reason I wanted to see Ruben win is because it feels good to see a big guy like him on stage who isn't talking about rollin' on dubs, selling crank and f*cking ho's. (I love rap, but whatever happened to love songs?)
With Barry White having suffered a stroke that has impaired his speech (get well soon), and Issac Hayes busy with South Park and acting, I think Ruben is here to fill a void. Here's to the freaky slow jams!

BTW: Matt has made several mentions of Idol in the past few months, so I don't see why it's a surprise to anyone that he watches it.

On the 2000 New Years celebration on NBC (methinks) They had him drive a flaming motocycle into a brick wall. Oh, I'm sorry "stunt Man" Vanilla Ice would perform a "death-defying feat."
It kind of shows you how much people wanted to hurt him, and how desperate he got. I mean, who in the corporate boardrooms said: "Hey, I know! Lets lure people to watch our show on the chance that Vanilla Ice might be hurt reeeaal bad!"
Apparently it worked...I distinctively remember him being just fine.
