Saw it, loved it.
It is time to finish what we started all those many years ago, back when this plastic prison still seemed cutting edge. Charles...are you ready?
No. Not now not ever.
Charles...you promised. You promised me that, someday, we would match wits again. Just because I'm a convict doesn't mean there's shame in your eventual defeat. So many would consider us equals, Charles. I know you can't stand the comparisons any more than myself. Let us put all theories and doubts to rest -- it's time to crown a champion between us. Choose your sword.
NO, NO NO NO. I've told you a thousand times - I'm not playing that game.
You will.
I won't.
You will.
I won't.
You won't.
What in God's name is going on in there? Guards, hit the magic button that sprays debilitating mist in the prison. I know one of the buttons must do that.
OUT!!! GET ME OUT LIKE TROUT LIKE TROUT GET ME OUT.
Why is he freaking? There's no way 'Magneto' can cause him any harm in there. I hate these old bats. Now where's that mist?
You're a chicken, Charles. I was going to let you be the red piece, too.

Saw it last night, loved the nod to Beast and Gambit. Confused as to why Colossus would get a cameo, sans Russian accent, though. Also, here in London we got huge promos going on about Lady Death Stryke, so I was a bit confused as to why she got no lines and her "Mutant Name" was never mentioned in the actual film.

Gambit was on the scroll-down list that Mystique was hackin into, under Eric Lenshirr(Magneto) was Remy LeBeau (Gambit's real name).

Chestnuts roasted by Dennis @ 05/04/2003 07:31 PM EST
That's exactly what my sister said. She also said that the ending in the movie is not the same as the ending in the book. I will have to read this to make sure.
Oh, and somebody on another message board thought Nightcrawler's power was farting. Can you believe that?
Chestnuts roasted by Go Knock Jimmy Down @ 05/05/2003 06:22 AM EST
I'm figuring that in "X3" they'll give Colossus a significantly larger role just like they gave Iceman a larger role in "X2". Also, we know that Phoenix is going to be involved in the next installment somehow, right? Since Pheonix has a certain "cosmic" quality about her, wouldn't it be awesome (and appropriate) to make Apocalypse the next major villian?
Chestnuts roasted by The Yeti @ 05/05/2003 08:44 AM EST
Ya know what's funny? Try sneaking up on people, yelling "BAMF!" then jumping out in front of them. Hours of countless fun...
By the way, if a whole "Dark Phoenix Saga" does pop its head up in the next installment, I don't think they would need to include Apocalypse....Think the X-men would have their hands full as it is :)
(Although, put Beast in the room with Dark Phoenix for like 5 minutes and the X-men would be triumphant...that's my little Beast fanboy wishful thinking)

Gambit was on the list of names on that computer that Mystique hacked. I was kind of pissed that after Wolverine killed Yuriko that he didn't have some flashbacks about how she used to be his girlfriend or whatever. I was also pissed that Colossus was only in it for about 2 minutes. I couldn't have been happier to NOT see that bastard Gambit. X3 I want to see way more Nightcrawler and Colossus, way less Iceman, and an appearance by that indian dude.

My guess is they won't go Dark Pheonix, its just too hard to do. Space, cosmic judgement, gods, armies.... I'm holding out for Jean's rebirth as a "light in the darkest hour" when Sentinels are crushing Mutant Kind and Magneto's little force is slaughtering people(where the heck was Sabertooth?? If ever oh ever a great casting there was Sabretooth was great...because...). My guess is she'll lead the folks to victory. Oh cyclops is a tool. Love how the leader of the frickin' X-Men is five feet tall and looks like puberty is still waiting to strike. Where's the fearless leader of sacrifice!!
Chestnuts roasted by Ethan @ 05/05/2003 08:00 PM EST
Yeah, I don't see Dark Phoenix rising in the third film...too much would have to happen first. If I'm remembering correctly, there was just plain old Phoenix first anyway, and that's more than cool enough for me.
Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 05/05/2003 08:12 PM EST
Yeah, she should just be Phoenix first. If they keep making the movies that long they can go further with it later.
I would like to see Gambit and Beast, blue fur and all. Colossus should get more of a role as well. They set up Rogue and Iceman to have bigger roles by the end of the movie it seemed. Of course, they need to come up with a way to have the flying, near-indestructible, butt-kicking Rogue of the comics.
Chestnuts roasted by Tikibob @ 05/05/2003 08:31 PM EST
I totally agree about Rogue...it'd be great fun to see her all juiced-up like she is in the comics and the cartoons. Trouble is, they'd have to introduce Mrs. Marvel into the mix so Rogue could siphon out all her tricked-out powers and whatnot. That is, if they wanted to be true to the comics and all, and it's been proven already that they don't mind fuckin' around with the X-lore a little. Also, if they wanted to stay true to the charater's roots, Rogue ought to be a little more slutty. But now I'm nit-picking...

Thats one thing the 2 Xmen movies have over the comics.
NO FRIGGIN GAMBIT.
(And barely any Cyclops, which is also a plus.)
Then again, my 2 favorite mutant teams were Generation X and Excalibur (original team).
No Cyclops, no Wolverine, no Gambit..
All the losers stayed put in the other books and the wierdoes and more interesting characters got to play.
(Plus Rachel Summers was a much cooler Pheonix than her mommy ever was. And in full body spiked read leather too..)
Chestnuts roasted by Bloodcat @ 05/06/2003 06:13 AM EST
Rather see Longshot, but since his rights are all tied up in his own (never gonna happen) movie, I suppose Gambit is a reasonably acceptable substitute.
BTW, other names on the list (aside from Erik Lensherr and Remy LeBeau) include Jamie Madrox (the Multiple Man), Everett Thomas (Synch), Keniucho Harada (Sunfire), Garrison Kane (Weapon X), Artie Maddicks (Artie), Xi'an Coy Mahn (Karma), Maximoff [2] (Quicksilver & the Scarlet Witch), Kevin McTaggert (Proteus), and Dani Moonstar (Mirage).
And yes, I have waaaaay too much free time on my hands...
Chestnuts roasted by The Lucky One @ 05/06/2003 10:28 AM EST
I'll be so happy if they just leave Gambit out of the movies. There are already too many girls going nuts for Wolverine. They don't need more fuel.

Chestnuts roasted by fangirlx @ 05/06/2003 11:34 PM EST
Mmmmm Nightcrawler. I swear I almost cried when he was a bad guy in the beginning.
And no they won't do Dark phoenix. The creators have already shown a dislike of any actual DEEP history of mutant powers. So I assume that Jean will just develop flaming psionic powers.
Ooooo Apocolypse = Archangel for sure. That's going to be something cool on the movie screen. Lots of flashy steel wings killing everything.
Chestnuts roasted by Bebo the Mutant Sloth @ 05/07/2003 12:52 AM EST
I LOVED the movie... but personally I was a little disappointed that Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) was not developed further ~ I think they jumped the shark with her character as she was portrayed as a teen in the 1st movie (in the classroom phasing through for her textbook) and a little girl in this one. Other than that it was great and I look forward to the next installment.... they will definitely introduce Phoenix, why else would they bother to put the symbol in the water?
Chestnuts roasted by Me @ 05/07/2003 05:17 AM EST
In the same scene with all the names on the computer, Mystique looks at another screen and sees the file about Cerebro. Directly to the left of that file was a file labeled: Franklin Richards. For those of you not in the know, Franklin Richards is the mutant son of The Fantastic Four's Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) and The Invisible Woman (Sue Storm Richards).
Yes I admit to my geekdom:)

the movie was very good!

As well why the hell did Jean leave the damn plane when it wasn't necessary? To make a dramatic sequel, so she wouldn't have to choose between Cyclops and Wolverine, so the could have some pathetic male bonding moments at the end? Please educate..
Chestnuts roasted by curio @ 05/09/2003 10:39 AM EST
Here Curio, I'll help you out. The Beast was a professor who developed really big hands and feet by accident, so he made a solution or something to get rid of their bigness. Unlucky for him, he grew blue fur all over his body. Looking like the freak he did, he went to Xavier's school to help out, save the world on occasion, etc. His cameo was when the prison guard was drinking in the bar, before Mystique injected him with liquid metal. Over the bar on a tv screen you can see someone named "Dr. Hank McCoy" being interviewed. That was the Beast's real name.

I'm a huge Gambit fan so I'd like to see him in the next movie. But what I haven't seen mentioned are a lot of the villains. I think that Juggernaut or Mr. Sinister would make some interesting villains but that's getting more into the far-out category. But seriously, I'm getting so tired of Magneto and the Brotherhood. I think the Juggernaut would be completely do-able but it really wouldn't have a whole lot of plot. The Sentinels would also be a cool thing to introduce though I'm not sure how that'd fit (i'm not versed in Xmen lore, just watched the cartoons from the early 90s). Also I'd have to concur that somewhere along the line Rogue needs to get all her powers. But yeah, they definitely better introduce Gambit (and Bishop would be cool too) in the 3rd one.
Chestnuts roasted by Swordfish 2 @ 05/10/2003 01:14 AM EST
Of all the X-Men that weren't included in this movie, Gambit would be the perfect wild card to introduce in X3. He'd do more good than bad if he was a part of the next installment.
Gambit would be easy to throw into the mix due to the fact that his mutant powers don't suck, he meshes well with the other X-Men, and he has a thing for Rogue. His presence wouldn't fuck up the plot at all either.
If your Bryan Singer (if he decides to direct X3), you get smart real quick and include Gambit next time.

Little cameo hints I got?
When Mystiique is hacking Stryker or Yurko's PC, before she clicks on Cerero II there's a lot of other files. One as mentioned above, is Franklin Richards.
Two others were Operation Wideawake(The biggest sentinel initiative the US goverment ever tried) and Omega Red(Do I need to explain? ;)

The Beast didn't have big hands and feet. He was part of the original 5, he was just a big regular guy that had the abilities of a big powerful ape. His powers were getting out of control, so he wanted to cure it but made things worse and made him self bigger, blue, and fuzzier. Also can someone tell me who Artie is and his power, and what is Stryker's son's mutant name?
Chestnuts roasted by The Shiz @ 05/12/2003 05:42 PM EST
With a burning phoenix in the water the chances are 50/50 the next movie will be Hollywood's version of the "Dark Phoenix". It's a sure bet they won't follow the comic book storyline (they never do...which is a good thing) Brian Singer (director) has one condition for X3: he directs something else before X3 and adds Warren Worthington (Angel) to the mix. From what I've read, he likes this character, and since he's made a zillion dollars with both...I think he'll get to add Angel. A blue Beast would also add a fun character...

ok another question...what's the connection with Jean going all firey and the feelings that something "terrible" is going to happen???
Chestnuts roasted by curio @ 05/13/2003 11:34 PM EST
Dark Phoenix? No such thing...
The firey effect was because of the Phoenix Force. Jean Grey, at least as far as the comics go, will be put in a cocoon at the bottom of that bay (though it wasn't in Canada, in the comic) and the Phoenix Force will create a copy of her body and use it to try and dominate humanity and such.
And damn straight they better have Archangel.

Beast should definitely be in the next movie. He rox. However, there is the "speshallness" hinted at w/Storm & Nightcrawler, and I've counted about 9 people already involved in SOME sort of love triangle (or other polygon), so he might just complicate things. Same goes for Gambit, 'cept I don't really care if he's in the next one. (Sorry to all you Gambitfans!) I think the plot of the next movie should tell a little more about Professor X and Rogue, and the whole Phoenix thing wouldn't be a bad idea either. It would be cool to see Jean Grey looking all fiery and whatnot. Pyro should, like, have a showdown with Iceman or something, too. I hope we get to see more of Colossus and other as-yet-background mutants. BTW: the movie was awesome and I've seen it 4x too, but I didn't catch all the cameos. Wolverine rox, dudes!!!

OK people, I think Artie was the guy that communicated by sending telepathic images because his tongue is too swollen or something when he gets older. If you buy the book for X-2, it'll explain most of what's going on. Jones (the kid who's awake all the time; first one shot watching TV)can change channels by blinking and never sleeps are his mutations. The best person to add into the third movie would be Psylocke played by Angelina Jolie. She looks good in tight black leather and can do the accent and fight scenes. They're probably bringing Toad back into the third movie into an aerial battle with Nightcrawler. My brother read all of this and is telling me that Beast will be in CG if at all, since its too much work for the costume. All the movies rock.
Chestnuts roasted by Kain @ 12/06/2003 03:31 PM EST
My brother,Kain, using some of my info made some good points to enlighten the ignorant. As I've read all the comments, I'll try to explain why a fight between Pyro and Iceman would suck. Iceman could just freeze his lighter and he would be powerless to stop the follow-up attack, if one came (the X-Men are too generous to people who try to kill them). Colosssus should be in more of the third movie. I wonder how Pyro kept doing that spin trick with his Zippo? I can flip mine open and closed, but my Windii isn't as good as a Zippo, I guess. They should bring in Avalanche (Project Wideawake, he was a major player in it) and Mikhail Rasputin, Colossus's older brother (who has really cool reality-bending and energy warping powers). The website's where you can find out mutants, just go to search and type in "X-Men Mutant Bios" and it'll bring up a lot of web pages on it. And a really cool way to get rid of Magneto is either Joseph or Onslaught (Joseph is a clone of Magneto's younger self who is stronger, and tried to kill Eric, but the great Magneto hit him with a rock to win, and Onslaught is all of Xavier's hatred for humans mixed in with Magneto's after a battle at Avalon when Magneto yanked out Wolverine's skeleton when he got hurt by him and the Professor drained his mind and powers and later "stole" Franklin Richards' powers to make a second sun around Earth to kill humans). They should bring Yuriko back and Gambit as a bad guy. Magneto could, like, pull the adamantium out of Deathstike and give Gambit his trademark staff, that can't be broken by his kinetic charging powers. Deathstrike could be in the Brotherhood like Wolverine is for the X-Men. The kids at the mansion were highly underrated, I mean they all had super powers and didn't fight back? And Flea, Colossus's short friend when he was drawing Rogue and Bobby, should have done more than just laugh. I had some problems with the movie though. One, was how Jean went from barely able to read Nightcrawler's mind to taking over Xavier and Nightcrawler at the same time, how she could barely throw a missile away but could hold back billions of tons of water and controlling the Blackbird. Two, the male bonding between Cyclops and Wolverine whem Cyclops' voice got all squeaky and when Xavier and Cyclops looked like they were going to make out, when he was Jean's puppet. And that reporter at the end, the bald guy with the pen in his mouth when Xavier froze the White House? That dude was just funny and they showed him twice. Cyclops' coolest scene is when he was fighting Laurio, Magento's guard, and looked pissed off when he punched him, but he listens to N'Sync of all things. He looked like he was venting some frustration over Jean and Wolverine on poor, fat Laurio. I have no life and I'm going to get back to it now, but if you have any questions, just post them, and I'll do my best to answer them.
