at least now I understand skeletors reasoning for using moss mans arms for so long.
Chestnuts roasted by Eric @ 03/06/2003 04:52 AM EST
Sure... but the Ninja Turtles were trying to cut Skeletor's arms, even though he could get new ones really really easy. So were the turtles stupid, or was the pain of the limb loss a punishment in and of itself?
Maybe I'm overanalyzing things... I'm just trying to figure out the laws of the X-Entertainiverse...
And when are those archives going to be ready?

omg. in the pic with Skel looking at the Gold Buddha, Skel has Moss Man's arms again! I love pointing out other people's mistakes!

I always thought Luke was a little... fruity. Unless of course the person nestled between Ultimate Muscle-dude's legs was Porkins or Biggs or Wedge or someone. In which case, it leads me to believe that the entire rebel X-wing force is one big excuse for homosexual debauchery. Now I have to watch the movies again, with that frame of mind...
I always love to read the continuing adventures of Skeletor. And I second the notion of T shirts!

You know, growing up, I had a severe, almost psychotic, fear of the game "Operation." My brother would always purposefully push the needle against the metal, setting the buzzer off for minutes straight. I'm scared of that game now. Thanks for bringing up bad memories, Matt!
Chestnuts roasted by Evan @ 03/06/2003 03:11 PM EST
That is so messed up. But it's still funny. Will Skeletor be thrown in the pokey for looting? Think about it, Skeletor goes to Oz.

I just thought of a great t-shirt design. Bulbasaur, Skeletor, and Donatello walking hand in hand, superimposed over a Decepticon logo, with a word balloon that says, "X-ENTERTAINMENT". Of course, the whole copyright issue would be a bit hard to avoid. Oh, well. I'll buy a shirt one way or another if Matt ever makes any.

Huzzah! The return of the Skeletor-related antics. I love Skeletor... well, I love the way Matt writes him, anyway. I still prefer Pee Wee's playhouse, but that was funny as hell all the same. I think a sequel to that would be scrumptious.

Well, XE has finally done the(what I once thought was) impossible. It made me vomit. Now you'd think that with the amount of alcohol I consume on a nightly basis, I'd be on pretty good terms with throwing up, but no. My stomach can handle any amount and variety of booze. When I get the flu, I pretty much just lay on the couch and moan, occasionally dragging myself into the kitchen to make soup. But once again, nothing comes up.
Then came the Lunchables article. The cracker one didn't seem that bad. In fact, I thought it was kinda funny. The tacos, on the other hand--there's a different story. When I saw the first picture, I thought "ooh, gross" and nothing more. I got to the "meat" part, and my stomach started churning. My throat started getting this little tickle, and for the first time since I was 13, it came out. I'd almost completely forgotten what that felt like. Thanks, Matt.
Chestnuts roasted by Jeremy @ 03/07/2003 03:20 PM EST
Man, goddamn them caprisons. I remember when the first came out and they were all one flavor. Even though they have some new flavors out the quility on the straws has gone down. From watching my cousins kids try to open those things the straws seem brittle cuz i seen about 4 of them just disentergrate when try to break the pouch. I still have the scar on my hand when in the 80's durring lunch, I went to open up a Tropical Punch caprisun and the straw didn't pirce the bag, it punctured my hand. So I just started turning them up-side down and stabbing the crotch of the caprisun, it worked far better.

I was watching the news the other day (or was it the Daily Show? Eh... same thing ;P), and they had a story about pig farmers being forced to buy toys to "amuse the pigs". Now that seems less ridiculous to me than it probably does to others- I mean hell, if we're gonna raise them to slaughter and devour them the least we can do is make them comfortable- but the farmer shown in the video had purchased... Operation for the pigs. And a bicycle. I suppose that was his way of protesting against what he thought was ridiculous, but it ended up making him look like an idiot.
I don't think the pigs have figures out how to open the box yet. I wonder if the jerk bought them batteries? :P

a popular game when i was at school was to hold a capri sun in your hand, go up behind someone, and smash it REALLY hard n their back, thus soaking them with it and making a bit of a noise too.
thats england for ya.

Oh, man, that Lunchables thing is sick. I stopped eating them before they went insane (i.e. the amazing, mystifying "taco" [which my little bro eats] to hockey pucks called "burgurs"). But geez, I knew that taco meat was disgusting, but has it really gone that far in the past few years? Ugh, I don't think I can ever eat Ham (mmmm ham) Lunchables again. Cause, you see, the ham & cracker ones were phat, yo...
Chestnuts roasted by Trell @ 03/08/2003 07:42 AM EST
Matt, you puss! Why didn't you eat the damn lunchable taco? You can't write a good review of these things if you don't eat them!
When these things first came out, I had to try them because they looked so gross. I paid like $6 for the tacos and the hamburgers. The hamburgers I could choke down, but the tacos...the tacos are satan spew. But you wouldn't know that, would you? Be a man next time (It's not like I'm asking that you eat that Hello Kitty meat pouch) and never forget the lemon anything!
Chestnuts roasted by Robb @ 03/08/2003 09:45 AM EST
I have a suggestion for you, Matt. There's a jumble of Skeletor comments mixed with Lunchables comments here, is there any way you could have a different comment section for each article you do? It wouldn't need a fancy setup or anything, just the title of the article. I really like the log entries that are separate from the rest of X-E, like the $20 Party World one, but they always seem to get overrun by people commenting on the latest article. Is it too much work to make that many comment sections? Have you addressed this before but I missed it?
My fondest memory of Lunchables (never actually tried them) is a food reviewer in our local newspaper who said the pancakes breakfast Lunchables (Breakfastables?) was nothing more than a nutrition-free kit to let kids use inedible sponges to convey sugar syrup to their mouths. She said if you care that little for your kids' health, just hand them a bottle of corn syrup and a straw, because it's cheaper.
Chestnuts roasted by Welsh Rabbit @ 03/08/2003 10:33 AM EST
speaking of capri sun, did any of you guys (after properly stabbing the bag with the straw) ever blow into the bag inflating it to capacity and then take the straw out of your mouth and let the drink spray out all over the person next to you?? then, when this person freaked out about it you could always use the old "goddam capri sun drinks!! you can never open these damn things!!" whereas the kid who got sprayed would be sympathetic to your plight and go back to eating his sandwich.
i only ate lunchables once, when they first came out. i think it was the ham and cheese kind. anyway a teacher complained to me that it looked like airplane food and then all the other kids ridiculed me. i never again got lunchables for lunch.
Chestnuts roasted by jeremiah @ 03/08/2003 11:05 AM EST
The Skeletor adventures are the bomb-diggity. You have to try the Pizza Lunchables, though...those things were totally extreme. To the max.

I would just like to say, that I used to EAT THE LUNCHABLES TACOS.
They weren't that bad. I used to eat them daily. They were quite good too. I know it looks a bit gross, but I tell ya it was good stuff.
Chestnuts roasted by Koz @ 03/08/2003 12:24 PM EST
Being the poor college student that I am, I constantly live off of Lunchables. The only ones I eat are the pizza ones though. Every once in a while I will force myself to eat the turkey kind if I am really hungry though. I must say, however, I have never been made fun of for eating them, considering I have friends that are in their mid-twenties who still LOVE those things!

Dear Tin Man/Matt
Tin, you said you almost threw up from laughing at one of matt's articles... well, I HAVE! I kid you not. It was the one about the power rangers movie... omg that was so freaking hilarious!
I'm not really sure about sharing the fact that this happened to me, but it did, and thats just how funny matt's stuff is!
I think the line that really set me off was when matt called the girl in the movie "Mandi Tory Tit Shots" wicked funny stuff

I've gotta defend those Lunchables tacos... yeah, they look nasty as hell, but they taste pretty good. The Lunchables pizza is a little better, but the tacos aren't that bad.
Chestnuts roasted by Night_Trekker @ 03/09/2003 05:03 PM EST
Ashley: I, too, am a poor student. Are Lunchables affordable for students? All I can fit into my budget is Mr. Noodles and baby carrots =/
My mum bought them for me to go to work sometimes over the summer, the chicken fajita (sp?) is yummy, and the chicken is so funny, cut into these funny little cubes...
Good lord, I'm so tired of adding water to noodles and watching them expand... they're just like sea monkeys, just add water and watch 'em grow!

Ugh, those Lunchables pizza pack things are disgusting. I actually threw up after trying one out back when I was, like, ten. The turkey/cracker/"cheese" pack looks remarkably unchanged from how they were a decade ago.
Oh, and I pulled the "blow into the straw" trick with Capri Sun countless times. Ah, memories...
Chestnuts roasted by EightOh @ 03/10/2003 12:00 PM EST
Uhg... yeah, ramen noodles are great, but a steady diet of them really sucks. But anything's better than the meal plan I'm on right now... Wendy's or McDonald's, or maybe Chic Fillet on occasion. I'd rather eat Lunchables for every meal than continue like this. Fast food sucks.
And oh God the irony, my new year's resolution was to work out and to physically get myself back to where I want to be, before my girlfriend comes back from studying abroad. Better start pumping iron now :P

This is the biggest sign that I spend too much time here on XE.
Last night, I fell asleep drunk with my headphones on. I was listening to Evanescence. Now, I know her name is Amy Lee, but for some reason, in my dream she and Edie Brickell were sitting together at my kitchen table, just talking. I recognized both of them, but I couldn't remember Amy's name, so I asked. What was her reply? Cherry Shoes.
I don't know how to end this....

red bellied pacu get over 3' long and can weigh nearly as much as you or i. i know people that house them in 500 gallon ponds and feed them pasta. they do have teeth, nasty ones. just not precision-y like piranhas. i have 10 piranhas in my house, the species i have attain a much smaller size than pacus. i am baffled that stores still sell these animals. same with irridescent sharks that can get to 2+ feet and require ENORMOUS swimming space. you can trade in the pacu for betta supplies as opposed to letting him choke on filth. to keep a tank clean, use a gravel vacuum and change out water now and then. for someone whose website has provided me hours upon hours of entertainment, i'm a little surprised at the lack of compassion and filth of that fish tank and the neglect of an animal, regardless of where it is on the food or intelligence chain. i still enjoy your articles though, just not this one. p.s., i'm not a member of peta and i have stabbed various live animals on more than one occasion for various reasons. here's an article i wrote at a predatory fish website that may help you if you decide to restart that larger fish tank. http://www.predatoryfish.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6147

Bettas ARE the best pet on the planet. I have a Blood-red one named Dante who has been alive for going on two years now. I put him in a 2 gallon aquarium with a little cave so he could hide when he wanted to.
Fun stuff to do: Hold up a mirror next to his tank. Little bastard should slowly and smoothly go ape-shit. It starts out slow and builds to an amazing crescendo of whipping about and gill-flaring. You can't do it too much, though, because they will eventually lose interest if you do.
