Christmas Vacation.

Here’s the deal: I’m taking a break. I’m fried. :)

I think this has become increasingly obvious, but, if it hasn’t: I am fried.

I have a lot of work to do for real life stuff, and I think I’ve been giving too much time to this other thing here. (Which I love to do, but as it’s now honestly a hobby and nothing else, it’s become stupid to treat it like a business. Just have fun.)

I was originally going to can the videos and focus on just the blogs, but when I plopped down to write one today, it hit me: This really isn't a good time for that, and wouldn't be even if I wasn't fried.

I’ll see how I feel in a week, after I’ve knocked out some of real work. I’m sorry that so many vows have been broken lately, but at least we can agree that they were silly vows. Bunny slippers and Christmas soda are not life or death.

It’s all good. It’s all good with me, so hope it’s all good with you. No weirdness. Let’s hug it out.

I’ll put up an all-purpose holiday thread tomorrow, which will be up for a while. (lol a year)

Not gonna lie, I’ll be a little disappointed in not seeing new blog entries as you regularly make me laugh my ass off. But I support you, you’ve been good to us over the years, it’s time for us to be good to you.

But it’s better to take a break now, then burn out completely and shut the whole thing down. This site means a lot to quite a few people. For instance I met my GF (Now Wife) because of this site. I was walking around a comicon (Yeah big nerd I know) and was doing a mock waiterbot voice bitching about the prices of old ass toys, and she walks up and whispers in my ear “Watch out for the satanic bunnies” and walked away. I happened to notice that she had a copy of Ghoulies in her hand. Perfection achieved, and I pursued her.

So as I was saying, take a break now….we’ll wait. It’s the christmas season, we should be out in the world anyway, not waiting for pale faced psycho patient in desperate need of a lozenge to review lego’s for us.

Yeah….it’s a ‘burn-out’ time of year. I hear ya. I’m a teacher. It’s almost Xmas. I am borderline insane at this point- and we teach until the 23rd!!

Do what you gotta do. I appreciate everything you do for the site, as do many others. Feel better!

Take it easy Matt! You’ve done a glorious job so far this year and it’s not like we don’t have a shit ton of past entries to lovingly revisit again and again. I agree with Skylynx (that is an amazing anecdote about meeting your wife BTW) and would rather see you knock off early rather than quit the whole thing for good. Try to enjoy the rest of the season. Take Salacious Crumb out for a jaunt, for old times’ sake. I bet he likes driving around looking at Christmas lights. Breathe, clear your head, and do what you need to do. Merry Christmas and thanks again for all your efforts year after year!

I am cool with whatever you chose to do Matt. It is your website after all. Honestly, I enjoyed the Madd Matt videos during Halloween time but could never find myself “in the mood” to watch them during Christmas. I would much rather you take breaks and not feel the need to update every single day during the Holiday Season. Hopefully this will mean a more active XE during the spring and summer months.

After all that work you did for the Halloween countdown I don’t blame you. Should have taken a long break after that. Get some real work done, give Madd Matt a well deserved rest, enjoy your friends and family and try to have a great Christmas. I appreciate the time you’ve put in to make us laugh. ;)

Paolo: This subject has been breached multiple times over the years during down time. Generally the consensus is that no one but Matt should (or could for that matter) write on X-E. It’s 100% his and should stay that way. There are enough other copycat sites out there with others trying to write like he does :)

Yup. That’s what I get for cleaning and cooking, missing drama on the internet. I really don’t think you should feel obligated to announce what you will or will not be doing, ever. The site’s free. It’s not as though any of us have payed for a subscription. Personally, I like things around here better when posts and videos just appear without warning. During those times I am never waiting around for something that may or may not happen.

If you do disappear for a bit, have a great Christmas, Matt! We’ll miss ya.

Whenever Matt takes a hiatus for a couple months, I’m always happy to go read old articles. Either again or for the first time. There’s no shortage of content on this site and lots of cool, cool regulars to chit chat with.
