D’oh. Yes, I meant JURASSIC PARK 3. No need to resort to cannibalism….yet.

I don’t mean to be presumptious, but I hope to see part IV of the contest results before too long.

Donnie Darko is without a doubt, a love it or hate it film. I happen to fall into the love it category. I didn’t at first, but the more I watched it, the more it grew on me. I’d go so far as to put it on my favorites list, but that’s me. The main plot is about time travel and alternate universes, to put it simply. Are endings to TV shows allowed? If so, I nominate The Sopranos. I have NEVER been more TICKED off at a tv show ending in. my. LIFE! lol

Soprano’s ending is aces :)

I feel like I need to defend Monty Python and the Holy Grail! If you don’t care for that’s fine, but it is a great homage to the Flying Circus series. They had numerous sketches that were cut just short of the punchline when a police officer walks in and talks about indecency. They carried this to the point that they made a sketch addressing the issue of sketches being cut short by the police…and before the issue was resolved the sketch was cut short by the police. So don’t you see, the movie ending with everybody getting arrested was pure genius!!!

I’m surprised at all the hate for the Mist’s ending. I thought it was bleak and ballsy and I loved it. The whole movie was very Night of the Living Dead-ish and the ending was no exception. Maybe the woman on the transport was a touch too much but maybe she got out while the gettin’ was good.

My worst ending vote might be Happy Birthday To Me. I love terrible twists but this one was a stretch even for a low budget slasher. It felt like they thought of it last minute and didn’t care if it made any sense.

And good call whoever mentioned the Smash Mouth concert in Rat Race.

Neg:I don’t think so. Dead air is NOT an ending! lol

Not sure if its been mentioned yet, but the ending to “Big Man Japan” is…well, there just aren’t words. That was one of the few times in my life when my jaw ACTUALLY dropped in disbelief. If you haven’t seen it…well, be forewarned. :P

The worst movie ending of any movie I’ve ever seen is the ending to “Brazil”…to this day, I’ve only ever watched the entire movie once, never will watch it again because of the ending…

Barry my dear friend, I completely agree with you on ID4 and Earth’s computer technology somehow being compatible with alien computers.

But what I love to point out more specifically is that on top of the virus miraculously working… it also properly displayed the animated GIF of the laughing skull and played the “satan_01.wav” file he included with the virus.

Cracks me up every time!

Seven, the guy wanted to die, should of broke his jaw, shot him in the knee cap, made him suffer or something.

I think both the endings of “The Mist” and “The Blair Witch Project” were amazing and perfect. I love both films, and cannot imagine other endings for them.

Cheetara: I haven’t heard about “Down with Love” but it sounds nice: a clever comedy. It is in my list of “must see”.

I agree with you all: JP3 ending is really crappy.

Goddamn Molly Ringwald ruining Pretty In Pink.

I think the original “house on the haunted hill” (1959), with mr. price, had a horrible ending, finishing before the night ended! I mean.. the plot of the movie was about spending one whole night at the stupid house!
I loved the film, but i was ashamed of that ending.
cheers from argentina matt!

So many choices. I think I’ll go with movies that would have been good if not for their stupid endings:

No Country for Old Men – Great cat & mouse thriller for 90 minutes, then kill off your most interesting character OFF SCREEN and spin your wheels for an agonizing half hour of boredom. What a disappointment.

The Lost World – The whole San Diego stuff was a fun idea, but piss poor execution. The logic of everything made no sense and what should have been exciting was incredibly boring.

Jurassic Park 3 – Solid throughout, but it is like they just ran out of money and said “let’s just have the army show up and call it a day”. It needed a big set piece at the end.

I saw the ending of Drag Me to Hell coming 8 miles away, but that whole movie was shite anyway.

ULTRAMAN, I have no desire to ever watch Donnie Darko again, but if I do, I’ll let you know what I think.

Neg, Bubble Boy IS a fun movie, isn’t it?

Why on Earth did anyone feel the need to end the otherwise not-bad CGI adaption of “Horton Hears A Who” with the entire cast singing REO Speedwagon’s “Can’t Fight This Feeling?” It was just weird, even for Dr. Seuss adaptations.

Berdo! I went through the comments wondering if anyone was going to say “The Last American Virgin”, which despite the suicide-inducing ending is my favorite movie. Maybe because of that unbelievably horrible ending… it’s just beyond comprehension what a downer that ending is, and even when you warn people who are watching the movie for the first time what they’re in for, they can’t believe it when it happens! God it’s amazing. And awful.

I also have to agree with the Pretty In Pink votes, and it’s worse knowing that they FILMED the Duckie ending and yet it hasn’t been included on any DVD, even the “Everything’s Duckie” edition!!!

Watchemen. Movie or comic it doesn’t matter. I go to the movies/read comic books to ESCAPE the fact that rich people who think they are a lot smarter than they actually are like to ruin the world on their ill-thought out whims. Just like the real world, no matter what good men do there is no way to stop them from using their power on us. The point of superhero comics is to get _away_ from that. It’s not “deconstruction” of the superhero genre in any way, it’s just as superficial and un-complex taken as a whole as any other comic; it is merely cynical.

Were it not for the ridiculous ending, it actually could have BEEN a deconstruction of the superhero genre, especially the complex motivations and failings of Rorschach and Nite Owl II… but Moore had to crap it up and cop out at the end.

Chestnuts roasted by TownParkRadio @ 08/21/2010 5:19 PM

Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. I’m all for movies with “the good guys all die” depressing endings, but this wasn’t even that. There’s no resolution whatsoever- it’s like they just ran out of film. When I was watching it the first time, I didn’t even realize the end was anywhere near happening until the credits started rolling.

Chestnuts roasted by Hanglyman @ 08/22/2010 3:30 PM

I’ve got to vote for Blair Witch Project. Getting DIMS from watching it was bad enough, but who stands in the corner waiting for their turn to die? When the villain is killing your friend, you are either supposed to kill the villain or save yourself, not politely wait until the killer has time to get to you.

Endings that made me want to barf like a chicken?
Easy. Pick most of the Stephen King adaptions. Especially The Shining, The Mist and (all of) Christine.
Kubrick rocks the block but why why why why why did he have to butcher a book that would have translated fairly directly to the screen?????
The Mist. Started well, was pretty happy. Then THAT ending. Darabont, you should be ashamed. You canned the voice over at the end of Blade Runner then serve up a weak as pi$$ ending that made me want to tear the screen down.
Christine. Don’t make me go there.
