Summer Megaparty 2010: Fake entry.

I'm not in the mood to write anything of substance tonight -- or more truthfully, the stuff I want to write is too substantial to accomplish between now and midnight. The clock remains my enemy.

So, rather than destroying myself trying to find something that only warrants two paragraphs and zero effort, today, you get repeats! Here are some of my random favorites from previous X-E Megaparties:

Tribute to Ecopsheres: Because it just hit me that I really, really want another one of these. I wonder if they've expanded the line lately?

TMNT Pudding Pies Commercial: I know where my bread is buttered. Fun fact: The pie wrapper scans from this old article are among the most-often hotlinked images on X-E.

Dinosaur Beach Tribute: A small and sincere homage to one of Wildwood NJ's many lost treasures.

BULLSHOT: I'm not sure if I've ever grossed out readers more than I did when I created, drank and actually liked a cocktail made chiefly of beef broth.

Horrormelons: When the mind drifts to Halloween during summertime, watermelons so often find themselves the victims.

Bulbasaur Craft Project: Still my favorite article to spring from a Megaparty, and nobody will ever change my mind.

Gonna get started on tomorrow's entry, which will include all-new super-fresh content, guaranteed to make up for an entry full of hyperlinks.

I must be getting old because I swear I remember posting a comment on that Turtle Pie article…apparently that is not the case.

Sorry to be a blog harlot, but I found some big Darkwing Duck-related news for anyone who’s interested. It’s a few months old, but I just found out about it tonight. Click my name for the blog post.

BULLSHOT made my mouth taste like vomit.

One of my favorite Summer Party “greatest hits” was Matt’s homemade McDonald’s Hulaburger. It almost tempted me to make my own.

Almost.

Anyway, I should have said it sooner, but it’s great seeing some fresh X-E content! I can’t wait for fall to get here for some Halloween action!

I never really managed to wrap my head around the concept of a bullshot. It’s probably not just the “beef broth with alcohol and some other stuff” part, but the “COLD beef broth with alcohol and some other stuff” part.
Then again, I never thought drinking Licor 43 with milk would be as delicious as turned out to be.

“I love it when we get nostalgic about nostalgia.”

So true! It is so funny to me that a guy who obviously is incredibly nostalgic has CREATED a website that is nostalgic. Every time I reread articles it takes me right back to where I was the first time I read it. Sometimes I even experience these crazy “six degrees of separation” type memories. Like when I hear “Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime” on the radio it takes me to the juke, which takes me to the advent, which takes me to my college dorm room, etc… It really is great!

Sometimes when I’m playing Rock Band I’ll just start riffing on McCartney like mad.

No wonder you didn’t hook up with Rita, you made her pay for dinner. I don’t believe it, either, John. He’s a right bastard of a man~

Writes shite Christmas songs, too :P Yes, I will take Happy Xmas (War is Over) over Simply… ANY DAY OF THE YEAR.

All excellent choices. After the first time I read about the ecospheres, I wanted one. Come to think of it, I still do.

I will try a Bullshot and I will like it!

I only ate ONE TMNT pudding pie in my whole life. ONE. Do I remember it clearly? You bet.

Anyone eat the Turtles pizza flavored Kraft Dinner? (or KD as you might call it) It tasted like…wrong.

It’s a crime against humanity that Hostess Pudding Pies (TMNT variety or regular) no longer exist, but unholy Hostess Fruit Pie flavors like Lemon and Pineapple are still readily available. Just no justice in this world.

It’s funny to look back and see what I commented on and what I didn’t. I seem to be very sparse. I do remember most of these articles though.

I remember eating those turtle pies all the time. I was such a pig and a brand whore. Their cereal tasted like shit but I used to eat that too.

Funny earlier this summer since I was bored I searched to find something and read both the Dinosaur Park and Bulbasaur crafts posts (among a few others).

tanta07- I last had a Hostess(chocolate)pudding pie back in 08. I used to be able to get them at the Cumberland Farms near my old job all the time. It’s been almost 2 years since I was last there. I will have to check(when I get a chance), to see if they are still there. There’s a company(I can’t remember their name), they have a cartoon alligator as their mascot, that makes awesome chocolate pudding pies. They sell them right up the street from me, and they are delicious. Try ‘em if you can find ‘em.

Upon re-reading the saga of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pocket pies, I believe I have located a screen capture of James LeGros scarfing down a purloined TMNT pocket pie from the 1992 Drew Barrymore vehicle, GUNCRAZY:

That is awesome JuntaJuleil! You can totally see that it’s a turtle pie. Cheers!

Hostess fruit pies rock. End of story. Maybe not EVERY flavor, but in general they’re awesome! What I’d REALLY love is a chocodile.

Remember twinkies with the cherry filling mixed with the cream.

HOLY GOD MOUTH ORGASM.

Chestnuts roasted by Neg @ 08/12/2010 4:28 PM

i remember readin about the BullShot and thinkin it sounds great. I love Bloody Marys and super dirty Martinis, but somehow I never tried it. I’ve even kept Worcester Sauce and beef bullion on my grocery list specifically for this drink.

Maybe this weekend I will finally make it.

There are reports of the Chocolate Pudding Pies still existing in isolated spots around the country. I haven’t heard any sign of the Vanilla ones still existing, though. The Vanilla ones were my favorite, naturally.

There’s actually a Hostess plant near where I work. I might swing by one day with several pointed questions on what the hell happened to my Vanilla Pudding Pies.

Chestnuts roasted by tanta07 @ 08/12/2010 5:06 PM

Tanta: If there is a Hostess Plant then there is also likely a Hostess outlet nearby. I would hit that up first for some low cost Hostess treats!!!

http://www.bakeryoutlets.com/

One of these outlets was featured in the classic Chocodiles post.

Also, I am surprised that some people have a hard time finding the chocolate pies. I see them at practically every store in Ohio and Colorado…
