Summer Megaparty 2010: Kool-Aid FunFizz, and Unrelated Survey.

Already got a slew of great entries for X-E's Least Favorite TV Character Paint Contest, with very few duplicates. The results show is shaping up to be a spectacle. Keep 'em coming. We can validate each other.

Today marks the momentous rebirth of the Kool-Aid Section, which has hid dormant for longer than some of your children have been alive. We have the folks at Target to thank, because they introduced me to Kool-Aid FunFizz. It is what it sounds like. Kool-Aid that fizzes.

Because I like to see a large number of comments and realize that a Kool-Aid review's feedback thread would fail to create them, we need an attached survey.

In the comments, tell the world about the best amusement park ride you've ever been on. Tell us what it is, where it is, and why you love it. "Amusement park ride" is a catchall, mind you: Anything from roller coasters to tilt-a-whirls to haunted houses to Mickey's Philharmagic can apply. I'd tell you mine, but I already did.

Best ride I was on was the Sidewinder at Hershey park! I spent all day riding that thing and playing the Simpsons arcade game. Summer Fun in the 90′s!

Jason, I think I heard that story as well. And I don’t think I’ve been to Rye Playland in ten years either. It was THE place to go when I was a kid – it’s only about 30 minutes from the Bronx and it’s a pretty small scale amusement park, so the old grandparents didn’t get all worn out taking me. When I was older my friends and I went there for shenanigans.

Now I’m just a decrepit old lady and I look back on that crappy park with fond longing and nostalgia. Well actually I’m not nostalgic about anything at all – too cynical. Wonder what drew me to x-e.

Rev: Maybe you were drawn to X-E because your just so weird, like me! :) Also ,no matter how much you try to hide it, I KNOW you have heart.

“I was totally gonna mention the chernobyl ferris wheel! I couldn’t remember where it was though. Is that the one that little kid fell off of and people pointed and laughed as he fell?”mandy_Reeves
Dunno about any kids falling off it, but that sure sounds like the apocryphal sort of tale that would be associated with it.

Hey Matt,

Do you still have the Hyve playset? I want one again. Just curious if you kept it.

what does everyone here know about pay day loans…are they like generally a no no? I may need one and needed advice…

I’m feeling like a spoiled brat, coming here, wishing for a Tuesday post. :(

Mandy, if there is any way you can get by without a payday loan…try to get by without a payday loan.

I don’t know about my favourite ride, but I know what my favourite queue was…the Dueling Dragons queue at Islands of Adventure, that castle was just awesome, I loved it so much. I always thought they should have used it for a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house, as far as I know this never happened…*sad*…I just did a web search on Dueling Dragons and it’s been re-themed for Harry Potter…you know I even knew it was coming and still it makes it no easier to bear, they even tore down Merlin’s Mystical Tavern…argh!

@ Bill, you know I totally understand getting a little emotional about such things

Will be to the wire (long day) but I’m posting in a bit. Hopefully before midnight for various reasons.

Escape from Pompei, easily my favorite ride ever.

I am a coaster junkie my favorite rides are: Bizarro at Six Flags New England and Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure. Bizarro is just one of the best rides ever and Nitro is a sentimental favorite because I had to take the walk of shame off of it and spent years trying to lose enough weight to ride it.

@Jaclyn Oh yes, their haunted house is one of the great classics of the park. I was afraid of it as a kid, but after reading Matt’s tribute to Castle Dracula, I learned not to take a good Haunted House ride for granted, and started enjoying it.

Yet, I’m still afraid of the Haunted House version of that 3D-XD ride I mentioned. I’ve learned to appreciate Haunted House rides with the traditional gimmicks, but a Haunted House ride with state of the art 3D CG might still be pretty scary. *blush*

The only theme park ride that comes to mind is Star Tours at Disneyland CA; actually, it’s sort of a default choice just because I haven’t been to any other parks. I haven’t been to Disneyland since June 2003 (Grad Night), but I’ve wanted to go back. The funny thing is, living in the San Fernando Valley, I’m about equidistant to two major theme/amusement parks, Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain, neither of which I’ve ever been to, and neither of which is more than 20 minutes away by freeway if traffic is good.

The best ride ever was the Smurf ride at Kings Island. Oh how I miss that ride!!

A long time ago, before many of you were born, there was a place in San Jose, California known as Frontier Village. It had a dark ride called The Lost Dutchman’s Mine. It was the only ride that scared me, probably because I could’t see how it worked. The place is long gone, torn asunder and condo’d over. I hoist a Fun Fizz to your memory, Frontier Village, you truly were “The Fastest Fun In The West.”

the best amusement park ride i ever rode was the incredible hulk coaster at universal orlando. the 80 min. wait was worth it!

Yes, I’m late. No, you won’t read this. I’m back in the hospital, cut me some slack.

Six Flags Over Georgia is just about the only theme park I’ve ever been to. That said, The Ninja is my favorite coaster ride. The Monster Plantation was always one of my favorites, too, and I’ve heard it’s been renovated, which makes me sad.

Bill, I remember the Looping Starship fondly, and your story is hifrigginglarious.
