Wow, we get a blast from the 80s in Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Gaynor brings back a classic song from the 70s and with the performance of Hair, we get the 60s. Now I’m waiting to see something from the 50′s. Come on Howdy Doody!

Ronald McDonald looks so gay with those skates and scarf. The green scarf doesn’t even match his outfit. The scarf should be red, not green! Ronald must be colorblind or something.

Boys Like Girls? I sure hope so, but I question these guys.

By the way, here’s a clip for the making of the floats for the parade.

Grrrr…I am so so jealous that you Americans get Thanksgiving in November. Ours is before Halloween! I am stuck at work and it is just a regular ol’ day. :( I need some holidays NOW.

MYSTIE – WOW! Lucky girl! Enjoy it and know that I wish I were there too.

Happy Thanksgiving X-E.

Yes it does seem they are rushing through the Parade this year. I wonder why?

Hope you all have a good one and are safe and happy this year.

I like that Mickey balloon, but man, they are really rushing through this thing.

Chestnuts roasted by Darth Galvatron @ 11/26/2009 12:04 PM

The only reason I can think of the parade rushing along is either they are experiencing bad weather to come their way or they just have too many damn balloons, floats, singers and bands in the parade this year that they have to rush to feature them all.

I like what happened when Al Roker mentioned the Oneida Indians bringing out a message of peace in the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Meredith gave a long stare and just fell silent as like she was thinking, “Yeah, okay, wasn’t expecting to hear that from you!”

Oh my God, Jimmy Fallon singing? He’s worse at that than he is at acting. No, just kidding about that. I liked him when he was on SNL and when starred with Drew Barrymore in Fever Pitch. Interesting selection of songs they are using, but can they sing more than ten seconds on each of them? Once again, the parade keeps rushing along.

YAY, Snoopy! Nice balloon, but Al, they’re binoculars, not goggles! The freaky live Peanuts characters are back! They didn’t mention the girl on the float. Are we to just assume that it’s Charles Schulz’s daughter because she used to skate with them on an ice skating float years back?

Chestnuts roasted by BJ @ 11/26/2009 12:14 PM

Did anyone notice the little character in the background after the singer who performed after Snoopy and the gang (sorry, forgot his name already). Anyway, no mention of that person so I don’t know if it was a really short person or a little kid and was he/she carrying the banner for the next act, that being the Long Island Mounted crew. I don’t know, I forget their names too! All I know is that they were on horseback carrying American flags and they were from Long Island.

I got a better name for this group performing this outer space number: “Invasion of the Giant Slinkies!!!!”

Chestnuts roasted by BJ @ 11/26/2009 12:19 PM

Is it me or does it seem that every single popular movie or song gets a broadway musical made about it these days?

Chestnuts roasted by Chris @ 11/26/2009 12:21 PM

I liked the indian dancing on top of the float. I gotta steal his moves. My wife said he was putting a curse on everyone there.

I wish Run DMC sang Christmastime in Hollis Queens instead of shitty-ass Jimmy Fallon.

Chestnuts roasted by berdo @ 11/26/2009 12:23 PM

I don’t know Chris, but I’ll let you know after E.T. the Musical comes out. Actually, this remionds me of an SNL sketch years ago in which they performed Taxi Driver the Musical and Adam Sandler played Travis Bickle.

Wait, Bello is now part of the Big Apple Circus? I saw him two years ago with Ringling Brothers when they were in Chicago. TRAITOR! How dare he change circuses!!!! Oh well, he was annoying anyway!

Its a sad thought that the parade has turned from a big toy advertsiement celebrating the beginning of the christmas season, to just a preview of boradway musicals and interviews with some tv stars promoting thier newest show.

Unfortunatly kids dont really play with toys much anymore. I ws looking in the toys r us ad this morning and there are barely any toys in there. Mostly just video games.

I feel so lucky to have been born just in time to enjoy the last golden age of toys.

Chestnuts roasted by Chris @ 11/26/2009 12:34 PM

It was not only an advertisement for toy lines, it also was a way of many of the TV programs to introduce their characters and shows to a wider audience. They always had Broadway Musical previews before the actual parade arrived. It just seems like they are showing more numbers and mixing them in with floats and other parade aspects.

What gets me is that even though it’s called the Thanksgiving Parade, it’s clearly geared more towards Christmas than Thanksgiving. I mean, who ends the parade? Not a pilgrim, but Santa. It seems as though all the Thanksgiving features such as Tom Turkey and the big pilgrim heads are featured at the beginning of the parade and by the second hour, it’s all about Christmas. It’s like Thanksgiving came and went with the parade.

Wow, I’ve seen two floats that had a skating rink on it but neither of them featured the Peanuts characters.

Chestnuts roasted by BJ @ 11/26/2009 12:42 PM

Well thats pretty much what thanksgiving has become. Its not so much its own unique holiday but rather a kick off to the christmas season.

Chestnuts roasted by Chris @ 11/26/2009 12:45 PM

YAY, Smurfs!!!! The smurf balloon looks pretty good and the live Smurfette and Papa Smurf look good as well. However, that other smurf looked as if he’s high on something. Perhaps that’s why he was standing alone while Smurfette and Papa were together. Oh wait, now I know why he was there and they were…..never mind.

Chestnuts roasted by BJ @ 11/26/2009 12:48 PM

Well theres your thanksgiving float BJ.

Chestnuts roasted by Chris @ 11/26/2009 12:49 PM

Don’t tell me the Garfield balloon got the shaft.
Has he gone the way of the Pink Panther?

Chestnuts roasted by berdo @ 11/26/2009 12:54 PM

I’m watching Kermit the Frog sing with Tiffani Thornton and I keep hoping for a malfunction and the puppeteer performing Kermit is shown. Of course, it’s probably an animatronic puppet even though I swear I saw the outline of a hand controlling Kermit’s mouth. Anyway, Kermit sure hasn’t been the same singer since his days of singing “Rainbow Connection” in “The Muppet Movie.” I know, it’s Steve Whitmire who does Kermit now and back then it was the late great Jim Henson. Now why was Kermit the balloon featured way before the actual Kermit? Must be an error in planning the parade route, or perhaps the real Kermit didn’t like his image in balloon form! Man, I gotta stop nitpicking this parade! It’s almost over thankfully.

Chestnuts roasted by BJ @ 11/26/2009 12:55 PM

I dont know why, but I can’t help but hate those fruity theatre kids that are singing now.
