Cheetara I love that you are stealing my gig of responding to everybody in a long list lol. There is a movie called gingerdead man with a child’s play type of storyline but it has a guy possessing a gingerbread man cookie. He is voiced by Gary Busey. There is a sequel called Gingerdead man 2: Passion of the crust. I have only watched 5 mins of the second one it has a lot of baking puns in it that is all I know.

Terror Claws Yay you got to finally share your survey question lol!! I think it’s the food. When the Halloween goodness wears off I stock my fridge with egg nog and Pom 7up which I got some this morning because there was a 50 cent coupon off two 2 liter bottles and they were .78 cents a piece so that was a good deal.

I could almost feel it in my stomach deciding to get some or not. But it’s a slow build up of tv commercials, food, rewatching Christmas movies, music, and then when Christmas specials run on tv I am full on into Christmas. I hope it doesn’t snow like it did last winter oy. Global Warming my ass I have never lived through snow that bad lol. We have matching Christmas drinking glasses so I guess that’s another thing too. When those come out and the top is continually filthy with nutmeg then you can say it’s Christmas time.

All I want for Christmas is…

To open a truly awesome and obscure gift that I had never known about or never asked for. I want to get that “This person thought of me, and knew me well enough to realize I’d think this was awesome!” feeling.

Haven’t felt it in so long. I’ve gone too many years with lists and set dollar amounts. It’s so cold and sterile.

Person A: “Open your gift.”

Person B: “You got me 200 dollars exactly as I asked for. My thanks. Now, open yours.”

Person A: “200 dollars as well. How contractual of you!”

Person B: “As we agreed. I hope this Holiday Season has been efficient.”

Person A: “Indeed. Exact to specifications!”

Person B: “Well, back to work.”

Person A: “Goodbye. See you next Christmas.”

I actually don’t enjoy receiving gifts on Christmas. Invariably they are all useless and I simply don’t have enough room to store things that I will never use or understand.

This is why eBay exists, so I can sell all my terrible Christmas gifts in exchange for something useful.

I apologize about the multiple posting, not too sure what happened there . . .

I have to say that I’m rather proud of the pumpkins I carved this year, and I felt sad when they disintegrated and had to be thrown in the raccoon-infested dumpster.
I’m buying a car soon, so I don’t think I’ll be able to afford any Christmas-type activities this year. Bah.

You know,I have many fond memories of my dad(he passed away 12 years ago) around the holidays and the holidays themselves don’t really mean as much. But,it’s the people around me who make them something special.Every year I could care less if I get any gifts,so long as I have my family and friends around. As far as gifts go,I like giving gifts. This time of year is my second favorite(after Halloween). This is the time of year you should reflect and be grateful for what you have(past&present).I don’t mean that to sound bad,but I always look back and it puts a smile on my face. :)

wroclawski – That’s alright, I will just sell your unintentional extra post on eBay.

I like giving gifts even though I don’t really have the opportunity to give as much as I’d like. I’m thinking of making baked goods this year instead of buying crap for people. I’m not sure yet.

I like receiving gifts too, but the epic hauls of my childhood days are pretty much gone now. In recent years, I’ve spoken to extended family only over the internet– we don’t get together at all since my grandmother died several years ago. Dad hasn’t bought me a Christmas present in years, and my mother always gives me useless stuff like cheap scented lotions which I’m convinced are impossible to use up. My in-laws have very little holiday spirit AND they don’t like me very much, so I get maybe one or two small things from them. It’s a stupid thing to get depressed over, I know, but I can’t help it.

Blah blah blah. Sorry for griping about it. This is why I don’t really look forward to Christmas and try to put it off as long as possible XD

I couldn’t care less about gifts, I just look forward to going home to my family and the Christmas Jukebox!

Annette, your comment about those cheap lotion sets made me laugh. No doubt I will receive 3 – 4 sets this year, as always. You should see the top shelf of my closet…full of sets from last year. I think people re-gift them more than fruit cake.

Faith, after that Christmas Vacation quote, I’m crushing on you a little bit.

I don’t gear up for Christmas ’til after Thanksgiving myself. That’s when I’m ready for the tree, ready to bust out the Christmas CDs, etc. That being sais, the wife and I might see the new Christmas Carol movie this weekend. And I’m ready for eggnog.

Chestnuts roasted by Teddy Ray @ 11/06/2009 4:35 PM

Teddy Ray, I’m with you, although by Thanksgiving I am Good And Ready. In fact my tree goes up right after Thanksgiving Dinner, no matter how annoying that is to pull off. I don’t care. I am the Big Boss of Putting Up My Christmas Tree On Thanksgiving’s Area.

I can’t really get behind nog-guzzling, though. It’s awful thick and eggy. Maybe one sip but after that I feel like I’m drinking paint.

Chestnuts roasted by Rev. Back It On Up 13 @ 11/06/2009 5:08 PM

Don’t forget the Jack Frost movies. There’s also a movie called “Santa’s Slay” that stars old WCW wrestler Goldberg as a killer Santa.

I’ve already drank eggnog and am ready to drink more. Can’t wait for the eggnog ice cream, although I did spot some hot cocoa ice cream.

Chestnuts roasted by King JLA @ 11/06/2009 5:30 PM

Why on earth would anyone want flavored eggnog? There’s absolutely nothing anyone could do to eggnog to make it one iota better than it already is. As to traditions, I have to say it starts for me the first time I see the How The Grinch Stole Christmas on tv (the cartoon, not the stupid Jim Carrey movie). I have a question of my own-other than turkey, what is everyone’s favorite thanksgiving dish? for me it’s homemade cranberry salad. I never tasted canned cranberry salad until I was 26, and found it absolutely revolting. We use a recipe my grandma found god knows how many years ago and it is pure heaven!! I’ll post it if anyone’s interested.

Chestnuts roasted by ericnrosesmom @ 11/06/2009 5:35 PM

I agree with those who dislike eggnog. I’ve always wanted to like eggnog . . . and I enjoy it in theory as a symbol of the time of year, but Rev put it best:

Like drinking paint.

I’ve gotten gifts that I barely use. I have this dvd of Like Mike that I got in 2002. Only played completely through once. That’s me, I get a dvd, play it, and then shelve it.

Chestnuts roasted by Lonestar76. @ 11/06/2009 6:17 PM

I’ve always wanted to like it too! And it smells good, with the nutmeg or whatever, and rum. Every time an opportunity arises, I try some, and I’m always reminded of what I already knew – I don’t like it.

I have the same experience with V8.

I’m hating this time of year anymore. :( 3 years ago, my Dad died a couple of days before Thanksgiving, and this year, my mom is diagnosed with cancer and has been really sick for the past month or two. As in “I don’t think she has a ton of time” type cancer. So, yeah, I’m totally not feeling it. I want to, but… bleh. :(

Chestnuts roasted by Ryane @ 11/06/2009 6:31 PM

Let us not forget ‘Life Day’ is almost upon up. Let’s not anger the Wookies by skipping ahead to Christmas too fast.

Chestnuts roasted by Shawn @ 11/06/2009 6:38 PM

Yes, well, that infernal clock keeps ticking . . .

With what you said in mind, Ryane, try and make the most of this holiday season for one simple reason. Well, I think you know what that reason is . . .

I wish you luck with what you are dealing with. It’s tragic.

Chestnuts roasted by wroclawski @ 11/06/2009 6:40 PM

Hey Matt

I just heard about what happened on the ferry today. I hope you were able to avoid that chaos. Damn Yankee fans have to cause problems anywhere they go.

Chestnuts roasted by Shawn @ 11/06/2009 7:08 PM

I’m going to attempt to make a Jukebox of my own this year, I will try my best to use 100 songs that weren’t used on yours. What program do you use to make the player?

Chestnuts roasted by Devconn88 @ 11/06/2009 7:48 PM

Terror Claws: Christmas time usually begins for me, right after Thanksgiving. I put some Christmas tunes on, then start to put up decorations. I’ll also have a Christmas flick playin in the background. And I enjoy munching on some Frosty, Rudoplh, Santa etc. shaped cookies. This year, I’m feelin the spirit a little early though. So I’m starting everything right now.
