Sorry…I didn’t mean to ruffle feathers or step on toes…
worst part about viewings is the awkwardness of seeing long lost relatives who totally go all weepy and emotional…and you think…oh so NOW you care about her…where were you when she was alive???

Death is simply tragic, Mandy. It is sad for everyone involved, even if you didn’t see them much or at all. I find that death, even of a long lost relative, brings out very existential thoughts and reflective behavior in the older crowd.
Funerals are very interesting events . . .
It’s sad no matter if you weren’t really there when they were alive . . .

Been away for about a week. Wow, so much happened.
First off, Ryane, you have my condolences. Hopefully this nuthouse will put you in a better mood. It always cheers me up.
I saw 2012 today. The pacing’s a bit off and it does tend to lag in a few parts (it clocks in at a little over 3 hours), but has some of the best action sequences I’ve ever seen in anything, so I definitely recommend it.
On the Stephen King topic, I own nearly everything he’s ever published, aside from a few of the more recent ones so I’ve got a little bit of catching up to do. I’m asking for Under The Dome for Christmas, so hopefully I’ll get it. I usually end up with one of his or whatever thing Clive Baker’s putting out for Christmas. Barker is and always will be my favorite author.
I guess this IS the SNT, unless Matt surprises us with something. Glad to see you all (and Mista Snowman!). Missed you the past week. My new job is kicking my ass, but I’m just grateful to be employed again and to be making good money. I think I’ll be doing some much needed car shopping next month, so I’m jazzed about that.
As for the AC, I’m glad to see it in whatever form it takes. I’d understand if Matt decided strip it down and take it back to basics this year. God knows the last 2 years it got kind of crazy. I gotta do some catching up though. I don’t think I even got round to reading it all last year, and I’ve nearly forgotten everything. I see a catching-up session in my near future. What do you guys recommend for a beverage and background material (music, movie, etc) for a good old fashioned AC Reading Session? Any thoughts?
how about some warm, spiced red wine for the beverage and the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol?
That should set the mood right, DJ.

Oh, and I forgot, if you have a fireplace . . . light it up!
Also rosemary, just lay that shit all over the place. Rosemary smells like Christmas . . .

It’s Saturday night and I’m sick with a cold, but I think it’s a blessing in disguise. Now I’m actually forced to lay on the couch all day and relax. Plus I got my PS3 Netflix disc, so I’ve been happily streaming movies.
mandy_reeves – Don’t worry! You didn’t step on any toes or ruffle any feathers here. I know I said I wasn’t religious or anything, but I would much rather imagine a big reunion up in the clouds rather than… nothing happening. :/
DJ D – Indeed it does. Coming here and reading posts does help alot. I have a friend I’ve been chatting with on AIM for the past couple of nights, and he’s really been great at cheering me up also. I’m glad I’ve been able to seek out such awesome people online. <3

Ryane, Like everyone else, you’re in my prayers and my thoughts are with you.
I was at Nintendo World in NYC today for the launch party for New Super Mario Bros Wii. Despite the rain, there were quite a few Mario & Luigi cosplayers (as well as a girl cosplaying as peach!), and we got to go to a Mario Bros centric museum along with playing demos of the game! There was a tournament as well, but it was so poorly organized that my friend & I left before we were able to get on a machine (it was supposed to start at 4. We left at 5:30)
Needless to say, the game is AWESOME. The great qualities of Super Mario Bros, Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and some new elements all rolled up into one! We finally get a new console Mario platformer, and it will not disappoint, especially to Mario veterans. Along with the classic Fire Flower, new power-ups include the Propeller Cap (this game’s flying power-up), and the Penguin Suit (Ice Mario from Galaxy plus the Koopa Shell from New Super Mario DS). Plus for those of you wondering about the Koopalongs, they show up, along with Bowser Jr., right in the first scene!
While the crowds of people were waiting to play, my friend and I, as well as a group of fellow geeks were basically riffing the demo footage for a good half hour. Basically, it was a great day.
RYANE – Damn, so sorry to hear this. Thinking of you and yours.
SNT and SNL – love it.
STEPHEN KING – My main man. Love him. ‘Under the Dome’ for Xmas this year – can’t wait. Nice to talk with other “constant readers” about “Uncle Stevie”

I may be wrong, but I think both of those sets of quotes are not necessary . . .
anyways, is there ever an SNT anymore? I’ve never participated in one before, but I imagine past SNTs were pretty epic.

They were the stuff of legend.
Spending tonight making good use of one of Mr. Jacks’s very rare appearances to get a head start on the holiday design.
Well, yay for Brian being around! I can’t wait to see what the new look will be.

Coincidence. I just got my PS3 Netflix disk a few days ago. It kinda sucks that the disk needs to be in the console to stream movies. The Netflix software installs onto the Xbox 360. Still…better than nothing. PlayOn is another awesome program for the PS3 and Xbox. You can stream Hulu onto the consoles. Sweet!
Shock of a lifetime, G4 is playing Big Trouble in Little China again. That is the hottest not-kiss goodbye in film history, y/y?
New York, I Love You was cute. Worth seeing if you’re into indies, anthology movies or New York City, all of which I am for assorted reasons. The Shia segment wasn’t my favorite, but it was fun seeing him rock an accent. The best segments were the one with Cloris Leachman, the one Natalie Portman directed with the dancer, and the one with Bradley Cooper/Drea de Matteo. Hayden Christensen and Orli/Christina Ricci were cute too. Basically, I think Neg would really like this movie
Ah, SNT. The stuff of legend, indeed.

I remember the first SNT…
I woke up at 3:30 all itchy from taking some vicodin so I could sleep, as I have a painful chest cold. Lordy, how people get their jollies from pill popping I’ll never understand. The stuff makes my skin crawl.
Invader Norbert: I saw some stuff on TV about the game and would love to play it but I don’t have a Wii. I just can’t get interested in the whole Wii-mote thing and have always been more of a PS3 guy. I think even if I had one, I’d be more interested in playing everything with the old-school controller rather than pointing and waving stuff around. But the fact that good Mario platfomers are still coming out is pretty exciting. Just wish I had a way to play it. Good platformers are hard to find these days.
Squee4242: How is it that Christina Ricci and Natalie Portman (the 2 loves of my life) are in one movie and I don’t know about it? Throw Jennifer Love Hewitt in there and my life would be complete! I have to track this thing down RIGHT NOW.
Worked ALL DAY yesterday and the house STILL ISN’T CLEAN!!
ARRGGGGGG!!
Then comes a hell week at school. Yeah yeah, Thanksgiving break is coming up but it will be a slugfest everyday from here to that final bell on Friday.
P.S. Why was Hordak so weak, annoying, and cursed with such bad dialogue in the SHE-RA series? I mean, I know it was for kids but…c’mon.
Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 11/15/2009 11:35 AM
Manimal: I hear ya, the slugfest is in full swing starting tomorrow for me. Monday is an anatomy practical in the cadaver lab, Tuesday is a 3 hour clinical medicine exam, and Thursday is a 4 hour medical science EENT exam… Sad week.

Thank god! I actually really like school but it is getting oppressive. In reality I am thankful for it because it makes my time off with my family during the holidays that much better.
Anyone else have something like that? You know, something that really makes the season all that much sweeter?

Ryane,
Thoughts with you during this stressful time….
Happy SNT, people. I had my first Thanksgiving meal tonight a good friend’s house and damn I am stuffed. It’s only 8 and it feels like 11pm. Crazy.
