First I scraped the inside heavily, then I thinned out a round "window" of pumpkin with a small chisel. The pentagram I did with a small knife, the pupils of the eyes being the only thing that actually is carved all the way through, something that looks a lot niftier in real life than in photos. I think my favorite thing about that particular pumpkin wasn't how it looked on Halloween night, but how it looked a few months later. That actually ended up making it onto a friend's album cover...

Yeah, I live in an apartment complex so we don’t get trick-or-treaters. Also, most parents around here take their kids to those lame “organized” trick-or-treat things, supposedly because they’re afraid of drugged candy or whatever. Hell, when I have kids, I’m going to dress up and go door-to-door with the little rugrats!

That’s one of the downsides I’ve got living in the proverbial shack in the woods: I just don’t get trick or treaters here. I’d decorate the ever-loving hell out of this place and blast a good Halloween playlist to warp their little heads if I did, though.
Mind you, I still buy a bunch of candy each year “just in case some kids show up”.
It’s totally not for myself. Nope, no way.

Finally settled on a pumpkin design.I’m going to try and do a simplified version of the old Eliphas Levi “Baphomet” engraving. I suppose it’s the logical sequel to the the pumpkin I did last year, although I’m not too confidant that I can pull it off…
