To those having juke troubles, does this version work?

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 09/04/2009 5:20 PM

Thanks Matt, that version works for me.

Chestnuts roasted by Slick @ 09/04/2009 5:29 PM

Works for me too! Thank you!

Chestnuts roasted by JiveTurkey @ 09/04/2009 5:35 PM

Awesome, then the regular juke link should work now too. :)

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 09/04/2009 5:38 PM

Right, so I kind of went back and forth and couldn’t decide for a while whether I wanted to post this or not cause I don’t want to be “that guy”, but here goes:

Halloween Jukebox sounds really great I’m really jazzed that we’ve got it, but there are a couple of errors:

28–Somebody’s Watching Me. It says it’s by Michael Jackson, but it’s actually Rockwell doing the main vocals. Jackson just did the background stuff.

40–Transylvania Concubine. Says it’s by Manson, but it’s actually by Rasputina. That particular version is just the Marilyn Manson remix (one of 2 remixes he did). The original, non-remixed version actually sounds drastically different.

Again, so, so sorry. The DJ and Rasputina fan in me (I play them quite a bit on my radio show) just couldn’t let it go. Oh, and Matt, if you happen to be interested in any additions to the jukebox, here are some suggestions:

-The Misfits–”Halloween II” (since you’ve already got the first one)
-London After Midnight–”October”
-Bauhaus–”Bela Lugosi’s Dead”
-Siouxsie and the Banshees–”Scarecrow”

Yay! :-D

That is all.

Bill- U of I?

And I have Ghost Dots! They are delicious!

Chestnuts roasted by PlantMonster @ 09/04/2009 6:31 PM

Yeah, it’s spreading here like…something that spreads fast. Pretty scary actually. Pullmen have over 3400 cases and 2000 students at wsu are quarantined. I can’t stop thinking of the movie [REC].

Can’t wait to get home later, drink Octoberfest, and listen to the new, improved juke.

Chestnuts roasted by Tryclyde @ 09/04/2009 6:59 PM

It’s working for me, too. Thanks.

Here’s another video with freaky puppets:

Oop, just thought of another one for the Jukebox: “Halloween” by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Don’t know how I forgot that one.

Bill: Wow, that’s nuts. Luckily there haven’t been any cases of it around here at all. I still gotta see [REC]. I saw Quarantine, the Americanized version, but I can only imagine [REC] is much better. I’ve read good things. I believe the sequel’s in development now.

I’m actually staying in tonight and watching the first 3 Final Destination movies. I’ve never seen any of them and I’m going to see the new one tomorrow in 3D.

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 09/04/2009 7:40 PM

Aw deej, good luck with that. Those things creep me out so bad, and I am not one to shy away from gore.

Chestnuts roasted by Amy @ 09/04/2009 7:52 PM

I recently watched the first 3 Final Destination movies and I’d say the second movie was my favorite. The movies to me are like live action Looney Tunes with gore. Its almost like you could digitaly erase each victim and put Wile E. Coyote in their place. All that was missing was falling anvils.

Chestnuts roasted by phunqsauce @ 09/04/2009 8:29 PM

Went to Target today. All they had were Halloween costumes, no cool decorations yet. And I forgot to get some fall-scented candles. Bah.

Staten Island Halloween Update

So while Matt is gearing up for his grand return to the countdown, this is what’s I’ve run across on the isle of Staten.

*Super Stop and Shop has Halloween Edition Madballs on display.

*The Spirit Halloween shop that Matt reviewed in ’07 is getting ready to reopen.

*For my daughters return to school I picked up Halloween Edition Oreo’s, Halloween Edition Chips Ahoy and Tastykake Kreepy Kakes.

We’re also going to Hershey Park for their Halloween weekends this October. We’ve been there in the summer, but I’m not sure what to expect. Has anyone ever been Hershey Park after Dark before?

Chestnuts roasted by Shawn @ 09/04/2009 10:15 PM

Ah yes, Rasputina. I’ve been listening to the “Radical Recital” tracks alot these days. Such an awesome rendition of “Barracuda”.

Chestnuts roasted by JiveTurkey @ 09/04/2009 10:50 PM

Jukebox working fine now. Thanks, Matt.

P.S. I love the way all my real topic suggestions go absolutely no where but my off handed YouTube clips or whatever have legs.
*sigh*

Chestnuts roasted by The Manimal @ 09/04/2009 11:25 PM

Wow, I’m gone all summer and I check back and nothing is different! Well, at least I’m right on time for Matt’s reappearance. Maybe Sept 16th will bring something spectacular. We can only hope.

Just got finished with my Final Destination-athon. Yeah, phunqsauce, they were a little over the top, but a lot of fun. They even had quite a few unexpected “Oh shit!” moments for sure. I hope the new one in the theatres that I’m going to see tomorrow can live up to the gore quota.

JiveTurkey: I love Rasputina. I was lucky enough to DJ a show they did here in town and meet them afterward. Melora is just as beautiful in person as you can imagine. I do a yearly “Goddesses of Goth” edition of my show every March for Womens History Month where I play nothing but female artists for the whole show, and this year that version of “Barracuda” was my first track. I figured there was nothing more girl-powerish and cool than Rasputina covering Heart.

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 09/05/2009 2:34 AM

Was there ever a thread discussing favorite Final Destination deaths? I think there was. Anyway, mine are when the guy that played Stifler gets decapitated when a train throws up a jagged piece of metal, and when the dude gets crushed by a giant, falling piece of glass. And btw, they really need to stop making these movies; I hate how Hollywood is now slapping “3D!” on everything and we’re supposed to be drooling at the mouths. The sad thing is, many people are.

Chestnuts roasted by Tryclyde @ 09/05/2009 8:49 AM

@Tryclyde not to be too spoilerific for anyone, but my favourite is from the first movie and it’s the bus. It’s a pure “Holy Sh%t!!” moment that comes out of nowhere.

Chestnuts roasted by Guise @ 09/05/2009 9:50 AM

Guise/Tryclyde: Yeah, the bus one was the first official “Holy Shit!” moment of the series for me. I’m usually good at calling those things but I didn’t see that one coming. The falling glass one is another one of my favorites too, as well as the “death by bbq” one when the kid’s arm ends up on the table. I thought the whole multi-car pile up in the 2nd movie was done really well.

I agree the movies are getting stale at this point though. I’d say things started to go downhill a little in the third one. I hope this new one has a different take on things. I think the whole formula of disaster happens, survivor has to convince other survivors of what’s going on, is kind of played out now. I’d like to see a complete change up of the formula. Just take the thing in a different direction.

I agree about the 3D thing too. It’s going to be come the new Hollywood cheap trend, much like remakes and re-imaginings or whatever they want to call them. Just because pretty things fly at your face in a shitty movie, it doesn’t make the movie any less shitty.

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 09/05/2009 10:29 AM

I agree with that point DJ D. While I wholeheartedly love the return of the 3D movie, I wish Hollywood would get back to being original. Whatever happened to original screenplays?

Chestnuts roasted by drew do @ 09/05/2009 11:37 AM

Sweet! The Jukebox works now! Thank you!

Chestnuts roasted by namideo @ 09/05/2009 11:45 AM

@Deej A whole shift in the formula? So, at the start everyone actually dies, no survivors, then Death comes on screen and says “Well, I thought seeing as we have another hour and forty to fill I’d read you a collection of poetry I posted on Myspace. I’ve been trying to put them to music, I only know two chords so far, but it’s pretty strong stuff…”
