Why dont we make Memorial Day “Flood Matts Email Day” and beg him to come back and give us an update.

fulgora77, I know who Robotman is! I used to have a Little Golden Book about him. (I had completely forgotten about it until sometime last year, though.) Those glasses sound like a really great find!

I know it’s Sunday night and I have to teach tomorrow…but a beer and an XE article would be really good right now. Perhaps a little XE Roulette is in order.

I don’t believe fake Matt. The least you could do is try to emulate his writing style, which we’ve read for like seven years.

Chestnuts roasted by Terror Claws @ 05/24/2009 9:13 PM

I’ve trolled here in the past a few times when there were no articles. I honestly didn’t do it to piss off Matt. I hope that didn’t contribute to Matt setting the site aside lately. We miss you Matt!

You might think sitting under fake plants is my favorite pastime, but joke’s on you…it’s only my second.

So…why is Star Wars on MTV of all channels? And…when the fuck did MTV start showing movies in the first place?

Chestnuts roasted by Annette @ 05/24/2009 11:01 PM

Well its better than them airing more of those incredibly stupid reality shows.

I know how Matt feels. I work from home doing graphic design for my own clienst and contract work for others, and I’d never trade working at home for going to a 9 – 5 job elsewhere, but really, work can eat you alive, even in a cool profession like this. Sometimes for weeks I’m up until 4am working on all of my client’s projects, even on weekends, and when I do decide to take a tiny break, I end up cleaning the house and then if I have that done, I watch TV or play a video game, even though I have email I could be catching up on with my own website. I feel bad because I feel like I’ve abandoned my own site lately, and I appreciate the site visitors who take time to write. But once I’m in “work mode” I find it hard to get back out, and then by the time I do, a new wave of work has fallen into my lap. I’ve found lately I need stick to my own enforced schedule of doing stuff besides work, or all I’ll do is work.
Anyway, I feel for Matt, because I think he’s in the same situation, and when he does have down time, he probably just wants to veg out a bit.

So. Terminator Salvation. Just got back from it. GOOD MOVIE. I’m still processing it. But I know that it was better than this movie- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070909/ *shiver*

LOL Ford-I laughed forever! I concur with the generic troll name.

I also cannot sit outside because of the across-the-way peeper. Anytime night or day he will be there. We know he knows that we know he’s there. So why does he still hide? creeeeeeeepy. The bums and crackheads are normal in comparison.

I also know its officially “summer” in Vegas when the hefty older man who lives across the street emerges, after a long hibernation, in what I can only describe as his tiny little cloth bootyshorts and gardening clogs to roam the streets, man-gina and all. I can’t decide if it’s better when he wears the long t-shirt so it looks like he has no pants on, or when he wears the bootyshorts…and NOTHING else.

This is the 3rd year in a row for all this. I love my wacky neighborhood.

I would never fall for the “fake matt”. I thank my naturally cynical personality. ;o)

And in conclusion, chips and salsa are yummy!( Come on 2,000!)

I’ve gotten a few e-mails from readers wondering if I was slowly abandoning the site. Well, duh, I thought not posting for weeks on end would make that pretty obvious. ALL KIDDING ASIDE, this will be my last post ever. ALL KIDDING ASIDE AGAIN, no, not abandoning, probably will never abandon, even when I’m in my sixties. Unless I’m dead, though I admit to finding some secret joy in the notion of being the first to blog from the grave. I don’t know if the site’s best days are behind it or still ahead, but I don’t particularly care either way. After doing this ten years and evolving past the point of it being a personal necessity, I enjoy knowing that I will not be empty inside if I’m not on here for a week here and a week there.

But no, not stopping. Why would I? In a strange way, I actually enjoy writing for the site more now than I ever have. I always did this because I wanted to, but I definitely don’t “need” to now. And not “needing” to means that I can write garbage about my socks and not have to worry about it being Digg-worthy. Right now, it’s just for kicks, and that’s the way I want it to be.

Chestnuts roasted by Matt @ 05/25/2009 11:19 AM

Tell us more about your socks.

Chestnuts roasted by Mystie @ 05/25/2009 11:47 AM

Ah-ha! It’s the popularity which makes Matt uncomfortable. The more people are drawn to him, the more he feels caged and needs to back away. Totally know the feeling, Matt. I’m not saying that’s entirely why, I can’t make any assured assumptions, but if so, that’s understandable and respectable. Be good to yourself because if you’re not, it makes it hard to be good to others. In our journey to please others, we mustn’t forget that the self is an other.

Chestnuts roasted by Anonymous @ 05/25/2009 12:17 PM

Matt has Michael Jackson Syndrome.

a fun sit to read is 1000awesomethings.com

Really interesting views on small stuff that are awesome. He’s counting down from 1000 and is at 700something now. I’m enjoying it since he updates every day (no offense Matt).

Yay! Thanks for the reply Annette, I was starting to wonder if me and KFC were the only ones who knew about Robotman (and friends!).

Do your socks have cartoon characters in them?

I think I will celebrate Memorial Day by reading some past Summer Megaparties.

Chestnuts roasted by Jon @ 05/25/2009 4:25 PM

So… have any of the more intrepid X-Eers tried out the new, Summer Movie Blockbuster tie-in candies yet? I know I’ve specifically seen 2 for Transformers 2 – “Bumblebee Yellow Nougat Snickers” and “Strawberry Peanut Butter M&Ms.” What the second one has to do with Transformers, I’ll never know.

I haven’t picked them up for 2 very good reasons: 1) I’m on a diet, and 2) I’m terrified by the thought of Snickers with too much Yellow #5 dye and PB&J M&Ms. BUT I’m hoping some poor, brave and/or stupid souls out there will try them, and allow me to live through vicariously through them through the Internet.

Anyone wanna help a brother out?
