Monster Rap.

Hello!

I was going to post this as a comment, but considering that the last thread is nearing 1000 comments (all positive) and takes about seventeen minutes to load, we may as well start anew.

I'm alive and unchanged. Seriously, I've just been working. A lot. It's been a less-than-ideal grind and I very much look forward to the current wave passing so I can get back to doing what I love to do best: Nothing, with a side of you.

Some of you have expressed interest in an early return for the Halloween Juke. I couldn't agree more and will try to include this soon as a partial mea culpa. I've been listening to that shit constantly, though I don't know if it has as much to do with me wanting Halloween as it does the fact that Geico's "Somebody's Watching Me" commercial airs 772 times each hour.

Also, there was an a site in circulation that evidently attempted to redirect users to a bad place. I cannot lie: I thought you guys were mistaken, but you were right, and the ad guys at UGO (and me) really, sincerely apologize for any trouble it caused. It's been eradicated and you should have no further trouble.

I finally watched that Clone Wars movie. Now, I was as hard on the prequels as anyone, but despite what seemed to be common opinion, I really didn't think it was bad at all. Granted, I fell asleep halfway through, but I'm assuming it grew no more offensive from there. Plus, the first reveal of Jabba's son, suddenly crawling out and goo-goo gah-ing with absolutely no build or fanfare, cracked me up so much that I had to rewind the scene seven times before watching the rest of (or the rest of the first half of) the movie.

Very odd to hear an ice cream truck's jingle playing during a thunderstorm in early April, but I swear, I just did.

Gyaarrggg Star Wars. I never believed that Star Wars was one big screenplay split into three. The tone of each movie is too different. Plus the first movie could stand alone if you wanted it to. The good guys win, the bad guys lose, the end. It’s pretty complete on it’s own, which is what makes me think he didn’t really have the next two movies planned out much.

Why am I still such a Star Wars nerd even though I hate everything that was done after Jedi?

Oh yeah, there was also the fact that Lucas didn’t number the first film “Episode IV” until 1981.

I’m done now I swear.

Ooh! We’re talking about E.T.’s smelly forest again! Ah the good old days…

PS – I recommend this song from the CD-I game “The 7th Guest” for the Halloween Jukebox, “Skeletons in my Closet”:

Matt already does have a Twitter ya’ll. It was probably a secret.

Chestnuts roasted by Twitter Stalker @ 04/08/2009 12:32 PM

What in the hell is a hashtag? Is it for medicinal use only?

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 04/08/2009 1:30 PM

A hashtag is just putting # in front of something for searching and trends and stuff.

Chestnuts roasted by Tommy Day @ 04/08/2009 1:35 PM

I thought it wasn’t until the 1997 re-release it became star wars episode IV. Oh no wait, that was when it became a new hope. Wasn’t it?I know something changed title-wise in 97.
Han so shot before Greedo.

For the jukebox can we have the misfits cover of the monster mash? that song is awesome, and I love the cover. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcP6JaitS_M&feature=related

Halloween is definitely a cooler holiday, but for some reason Reese’s in Egg Form is my favorite out of any incarnation, so I hork down as many as I can around this time of year.

Peeps + Twitter = Pweeter/Twips.
Tweeps?
Pitter?

hooray!

Matt, nice to have you back. Maybe when work slows down we can get some great summer articles and some finished AC!

Chestnuts roasted by Barry @ 04/08/2009 3:07 PM

Nice to have you back matt.

Ahhhh, the ice cream truck, such a dream object for children. Unless you lived by me when i was 18, I downloaded a ice cream truck style jingle onto cd. Then I would play it as loud as i could and drive slow as hell through neighborhoods and watch their unbound joy turn to utter dispare as they realized they would be getting no deliciousness today!! lol

Chestnuts roasted by Mild Bill @ 04/08/2009 3:14 PM

Oh and its damn near halfway to next christmas so let the AC die man. Its dead. Chester Cobblepot dead.

Chestnuts roasted by Mild Bill @ 04/08/2009 3:15 PM

It’s odd to see my troll doppelganger (the last two posts) being so positive. I expected “I eat poop” or “I’ll kill all of you sacks of shit if I don’t see more AC!”, but I’m glad to see me painted in a positive light.

Discussion: Is a positive doppelganger troll an angel, or a bizzaro troll?

Chestnuts roasted by Barry @ 04/08/2009 3:32 PM

Mild Bill: That’s cold, man. That’s cold.

Chestnuts roasted by DJ D @ 04/08/2009 3:38 PM

All this talk about ice cream trucks and Halloween reminds me of the Masters of Horror episode “We All Scream For Ice Cream.” which features an evil clown, another XE topic favorite.

I obviously can’t be certain about it, but I would think that Matt would be a guy who finds Twitter to be annoying.

Chestnuts roasted by Brew Master @ 04/08/2009 5:23 PM

Speaking of the whole Star Wars thing, have any of you guys read ‘The Secret History Of Star Wars’? It’s an ebook that’s been floating around for a while, in which the author goes in depth on exposing how the trilogy was obviously made-up on the fly, with no grander scheme in mind. Pretty interesting read, and well researched too.

And hey Tommy, good to see you too! I’m glad SMC is back up and running.

Chestnuts roasted by Daniel85 @ 04/08/2009 5:34 PM

I hate twitter just cos everyone else likes it or talks about it. Im such a non-conformist.

Chestnuts roasted by ory_bloodmyre @ 04/08/2009 5:59 PM

Tommy Day: For some reason the phrase “hork down” just struck me as unbelievably funny. This could be attributable to Nyquil, however, as could my need to comment on this despite having nothing of substance to contribute to the thread. I’m just sitting here, partially doped-up, thinking “hork hork” and cracking up.

Hell yeah, Berdo! I rode Splash Mountain for the first time in years this weekend, and I was surprised to discover it has the same musty Pirates smell. Much higher risk of having occasion to discover how it tastes, though :x I just read (guess where) that someone created an iPhone app to track Disneyland wait times, super cool!

Easter Beagle was cute. My DVR cut off whatever the other special was, but it looked baseball-centric.

So anybody have any big Easter plans? We’ve got fam coming, but we’re going out for brunch so no cooking 8)

Glad to see you haven’t ditched the site quite yet Matt.

In my neighborhood the ice cream truck also sold weed, which was never out of season, and they always had chamoy and chinese candy and stuff.

On another note, I’m going to be stuck in Daytona Florida for a week in early June (Wife has family there). Not being a 22 year old drunken frat boy, or a 67 year old golfer with prostate issues, I’m having a really hard time finding anything remotely interesting to do there.

Is there some secret cache of geeky goodness in the area that I just haven’t been able to discover from the Internet? Anybody? Bueller?

P.S. I fucking hate Disney, so no I’m not driving to Orlando to see some anthropomorphic mouse in an overpriced theme park.
