Heh, "Congo." One of the weakest toy lines in toy history. This is about all I can say for the Amy figure, even though one commenter already beat me to the punch:

"Tracy, will you quit clowning around and go get us our ghostbusting assignment?!"

Don't worry, I'm not going to bitch about the advent calendar, heh. In fact, I was so damn busy over Christmas time I really didn't even have time to look at it much. But now that F-13 has come full circle again with a new movie and dvd release I can die content.

As for the new F-13 film. I loved it! But up to a point. I don't know if it'll become as classic to me as the ones from the 80s, but after Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X I never ever thought we would get a F-13 movie that would hark back to the series' roots. And this one delivered, for the most part. I had fun finding the interwoven elements from parts 1, 2, 3, and 4. And I didn't mind as much that they Super Sized Jason, simply because, for the first time, he really scared the living shit out of me! I also loved that he was strategic, like setting bear traps in the woods for random sex crazed, joint rolling, teenagers to get stuck in, heh. There were methods to his madness. I also loved the humor. They always tried to incorporate jokes in the earlier movies that fell flatt most of the time, but the stupid jokes in this movie, especially from the asian stoner kid, really made me laugh. I think you had a point though, when you said it captured the style but not the soul. Your idea of it being set in the 80s also has some merit. I think in many ways, the 1980s was the soul of that series. To me this was probably the truest Jason movie since the 80s, not that there was a lot of competition from the 90s or this decade, but still. And I can understand the discomfort with this movie essentially being F-13 on steroids with a ginormous Jason and excessive gore and nudity (although you can't deny the quota was met, or exceeded in this case). But mostly what I loved about this movie was the experience. I saw it at midnight when it came out and we had a fun audience. I just remember as the black guy in the movie went out looking for his Asian buddy (this movie was bad with stereotypes), and we're all saying "No, don't go in there!" some dude several rows behind me shouts out "Barack would spit on yo ass!" and the entire theatre roars with laughter. And there were more moments like this. It was just a fun movie going experience, which, at the end of the day, is what F-13 is all about.

As far as Friday the 13th part 3 in 3-D...YES! I couldn't believe it when I saw this on the shelves at Best Buy. I had to own it. Although, F-13 pt. 3 is not the kind of movie I ever would have expected to buy twice (already owning the 2-D version on dvd). Of the first 4 in the series, part 3 is probably my least favorite. Yet I couldn't resist seeing this movie as it was meant to be seen. And yes, I did watch it on a flat screen, in the dark, and with surround sound. And while the 3-D doesn't work 100%, it was still pretty amazing. Your review pretty much summed up my thoughts.

Matt,
I don't know if I should share this piece of gold with you, seeing how you will not complete the advent calendar. However, Shamrock shakes are out in full force in the Orlando area. Not only are they out but they came out today, Sunday the 15th. Last year they appeard in January and were out well before march 17th. But there is a chance, a small chance I will be able to enjoy said minty green Partially Gelatinated, Non-Dairy, Gum-Based Beverage on the actual St. Patricks day!
