REPORTING FOR DUTY! AND I’M WATCHING “IT”!

Ghosted by PlantMonster @ 02/13/2009 8:21 PM EST

I have a theory, Matt is ALWAYS paying attention, but from the shadows. He’s got this SUPER MEGA AWESOME article he’s putting together. Like he somehow found the only Scale Model of Devistator or something as equally cool, like he has been chosen to play Freddy in the upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street Remake.

Now i’m all excited!

Ghosted by Jester @ 02/13/2009 8:32 PM EST

What did everyone think of the Friday the 13th remake? I enjoyed the hell out of it!

Ghosted by Mario! @ 02/13/2009 8:45 PM EST

9th! watching 12 monkeys…

Jester- Calm down, or you’ll wind up bitterly disappointed. I love this site, but it’s been an exercies in variable ratios… http://psychology.about.com/od/vindex/g/def_variablerat.htm

I’m with you, penmissile. Can’t wait to hear Matt’s review of the new Jason.

where is the last two advent calendar days, its like 2002 all over again :I

Ghosted by larry @ 02/13/2009 9:31 PM EST

Agreed about the advent calendar. And hopefully that’s the only way it’s like 2002 all over again. I don’t want to relive the tenth grade.

I was hoping Matt was dead. I’m in his will.

Ghosted by Barry @ 02/13/2009 9:46 PM EST

Anyone going to watch the Psych Friday the 13th episode tonight? They have the pillowcase from…the second movie? Or the third before he gets his mask? I can’t remember which.

Ghosted by Nannageddon @ 02/13/2009 10:03 PM EST

I want to see the Friday the 13th remake. I’m probably going to wait a week or two though. I really hope its done in old school style.

Ghosted by Jack @ 02/13/2009 10:09 PM EST

I didn’t even realize today is Friday the 13th until reading this blog post.

Ghosted by Ragnarok @ 02/13/2009 10:12 PM EST

Acute observation PlantMonster. I’m curious if we have any pigeons in the room, trying to figure out exactly what they did when we got this last update. :P I’m just being an ass.

And shit Barry, thats harsh.

Ghosted by Tutsuro @ 02/13/2009 10:21 PM EST

I haven’t seen any of the Friday the 13th movies, so this new one has no appeal for me. Not for lack of opportunity, but rather, an almost total lack of interest on my part.

They’re really starting to ratchet up the promotions for Watchmen, though. The other day, I was driving through North Hollywood and got stuck behind a double-decker bus that was redone as a sort of mobile billboard for the movie. I’m kind of on the fence about it, though. I’m only marginally familiar with the original graphic novel, but I would hope it’s a good movie, but I haven’t got much to base it on. I think most of my interest lies with the fact that the new Star Trek trailer is debuting with Watchmen.

Ghosted by Thomas @ 02/13/2009 10:24 PM EST

Just here to say YAY Matt! Looking forward to your return.

Ghosted by MikeyD @ 02/13/2009 10:31 PM EST

Oh Boy. I think maybe I will start watching the F13th movies tomorrow…too bad VD and the 13th cannot fall on the same day.

I am looking forward to your spring awakening Matt.

Ghosted by kb @ 02/13/2009 10:35 PM EST

Cicobuff= We’ve heard that before. Stop crying Wolf.

I just heard someone say “Man” on Star Wars The Clone
Wars. At least he didn’t sound like Cheech or Chong.

Matt, I hope you and your sweetheart have a happy Valentine’s Day, and I hope you join us for the SNT tomorrow.

So, I’m an English teacher in Japan. Named Jason. On Friday the 13th. That was awesome in so many ways.

Even more so, I got SO. MUCH. CHOCOLATE. Totally awesome..

P.S. Friday the 10th sucks for me more than the 13th. I lost my little baby girl on the 10th. I loved that cat more than I could ever say. I want my Allie girl back so much :( .

I have nothing useful to add to this thread.

Ghosted by Teddy Ray @ 02/14/2009 12:48 AM EST

Anyone else disappointed by the piss-poor lineup trotted out by Chiller today. They had a mini “Friday the 13th: The Series” marathon in the afternoon hours…and nothing else. Well, only “nothing else” if you don’t consider “The Dark Half” an essential part of the “Friday the 13th” oeuvre.

Ghosted by Thorzul @ 02/14/2009 12:48 AM EST

Well, it’s almost the 14th now and I did not have any encounters with crazy dead men wearing hockey masks. Or their mothers. So I guess we made it through another one…

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 02/14/2009 12:52 AM EST

I just don’t see the point of rebooting of the Friday The 13th series. I would have rather had something to bridge the gap between Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X. We understand that there are hits and misses in the Friday Universe. It’s not necessary to reboot the series to fix that.

My God, I just noticed that seanbaby.com updated a few days ago for the first time in years!

If you’ve never been there before, you owe it to yourself to check it out; the guy’s writing is similar to Matt’s but he focuses more on video games and comics.

His character bios on the Superfriends are some of the funniest things I’ve ever read.

When is the advent calender getting done?

Or when is anything around here going to get done for that matter?

Ghosted by Chris @ 02/14/2009 1:28 AM EST

Thomas: I am SUPER pumped about The Watchmen movie. Unlike most people, I actually ~do~ have a deep attachment to it. It was the first “adult” comic (adult themes, not dirty) I read, waaaaay back when I was 11, after having grown up on Batman/Superman/Spiderman/etc. It completely changed the way I looked at super heroes. I’m trying not to get too excited about the movie, because I know it can’t compete with the beautiful image I have in my head/heart, but I still hope they don’t screw it up. I really hope it brings a new group of people into the Watchmen series as well, and makes a whole new generation question the heroes they grew up with. I’ll never look at Batman without thinking of Rorschach now.

I just knew all day at work today that there would be NO way Matt would let a Friday the 13th slip by without at least SOME sort of small post… glad to see I was right 8)

Am I allowed to say that I honestly don’t care if the AC ever gets finished. Sure, its a fun distraction during Christmas Time. But the last time I checked its FAR from Christmas Time. I’d like to see some more old school style articles, like the good old days of Ecto Cooler and other long expired food related products! Those where what drew me to the site in the first place.

39th! Just got back from seeing the Friday the 13th remake.
It was pretty cool.

Oh hai guys….going to bed pretty soon, don’t know WHAT I’m getting for V-tines day…either a webkinz or Jazz Flip camcorder. Big lots has em for 28 dollars Sunday.

I just saw a commercial on television for the new Burger King “Burger Shots”. which appear to be miniature-sized hamburgers that you buy in multipacks. Now am I crazy, or didn’t BK sell something very similar in the 1980s? And no, I am not thinking of the chicken little sandwiches KFC sold during that era either. I would swear that BK offered mini-burgers in (I think) three-packs.

Or am I just crazy?

Ghosted by TF (aka Magic Toy) @ 02/14/2009 2:59 AM EST

PlantMonster, I’ve never watched Poltergeist all the way through, although I’ve seen parts of it. And I’ve never ever seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th movies, either. I may have a high tolerance for drugs, but I have a very low tolerance for scary movies. I couldn’t even watch On Demand’s showing of Vacancy. You should have heard my daughter laugh at me over that.

If I didn’t know for sure that Matt lives on the other coast, I’d wonder if this is what has kept him busy for the last month…http://www.nbcbayarea.com/around_town/the_scene/Welcome-Back-Healthy-Penis.html. You can check out his (its?) homepage at the end of the article.

I’m going to see F13 this weekend with Dad. It’s a rule that we see horror movies together, ever since I was 9 and he made me watch Child’s Play 3 to convince me it wasn’t real. (That… didn’t work out so well.)

Sorry to hear about your kitty, Jack!

I saw a three pack of movies at Target, Jason slasher collection. Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy v Jason. WHAAAT. the only movie worth watching there is, obviously, FvJ. (Though the scene in Jason X where Jason goes into the virtual reality campground, zips one stupid teen up in a sleeping bag and beats the other one with said bag is hilarious).

I’m not a big Jason fan, but I can’t wait to see the remake. And I’m DYING to know (haha) who’s going to play Freddy in Nightmare.

Happy Valentine’s Day! My plans are a nice dinner, where I’ll treat myself to steak, lobster tail, and a mojito! And maybe I’ll watch Before Sunrise because it’s my favorite romantic movie! Or Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown! Not sure what’s up with all the exclamation points!

Ghosted by Review the World @ 02/14/2009 4:42 AM EST

TF:Your not crazy. BK did indeed sell those burgers in the past at one point.

Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 02/14/2009 5:43 AM EST

Maybe he feels it really is time to put this thing to bed. After all, Matt’s been doing this for SEVERAL years now. He’s done a shitload of articles, seasonal countdowns, and advent calendars. While I would love to see more, I would understand if he hung it up, and just left the comment section up for us…..

Either way, I just want to say thanks for everything you’ve done, and for what, if anything, you may do in the future.

Hey, congrats to XE on getting into the Raleigh News and Observer!
http://www.newsobserver.com/917/story/1405570.html
Granted, it’s not the type of article you’d expect to see but it’s pretty neat to see a reference to this site in the paper.

Ghosted by mjf7583 @ 02/14/2009 9:18 AM EST

Nice catch mjf, I totally missed that in the news and observer this morning.

Chris C pay have gotten the first post but I’m claiming FIRST for proclaming Matt dead.

OMG HE HASN’T POSTED FOR LIKE 12 HOURS MATT IS DEAD, I’M CHECKING THE OBITS, THIS IS THE END OF XE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ghosted by Anonymous @ 02/14/2009 9:38 AM EST

TF,your not crazy. They were called Burger Buddies and were pimped out by Evander Holyfield when he still had two matching ears.:P I noticed the same thing the other day when I went to BK.

Ghosted by shortcake 79 @ 02/14/2009 9:51 AM EST

Magic Toy and ULTRAMAN In fact at least in the year of 1987 give or take one or two years Burger king sold a 3 pack of mini hamburgers called Burger Bundles for 99 cents. The burger shots are 2 or 6 packs 1.39 or 4.09. They also have breakfast versions which from what I read the burger bundles came in a breakfast version too. Also there was a kids meal version called burger buddies.

I suggest to everybody that is on edge about this website should take a break for a week or two. Or a month. Get some fresh air and then come back. Then you will realize how stupid it is and foolish to argue from both sides and hopefully your attitude will change. I like this time of the year actually because I focus on other things and I don’t have to be concerned w/ checking for updates all the time. It’s like a vacation of sorts. I know Matt wouldn’t be offended by that.
