02/02/2009: Man Eating Chicken is dead.

Sorry I haven’t posted…I’ve been watching the Super Bowl for two weeks straight!!

Hmmm. Work: Riotously busy, so I won’t bother promising anything for this week. But maybe I’ll surprise you. Also, I don’t want to post once and then vanish for another month, so no worries there. The site’s like a junked car. It’s annoying to think about crawling under it to fix things, but once I do, it’ll run smoothly.

To clarify: If I don’t post for a while, it doesn’t mean I died. But then again, I suppose it could?

Speaking of death, our last fish finally kicked. Now we have a 55 gallon fish tank with nothing but water in it. Sad, but now the opportunities are endless. Any ideas? I’m thinking blue crayfish and blue crayfish exclusively.

Holy Moley! You guys should have seen the hail we had down this way. Not the disasterpiece other towns had, but being the recipient of sky-borne crushed ice is enough to make you feel for all cars in sight. It even made CNN, Fox News, and World News Now. Of course, as Okie weather is wont to do, today is all bright and sunny. Good kite-flying weather. I can get a paper bag, some glue or tape, some string, and I can make a quick kite. Wheee!

I’m in Waco, TX, and we had pea-sized hail and 70-80 mph winds. Made it through without any major damage though. I’ve been through worse storms. And yep, today was beautiful, sunny, and 70 degrees. :D

I’m glad you guys like Laser Cats. Every week, I record SNL on my DVR. Every week, I watch it. Every week, I wonder, “Why am I still watching this?” Those digital shorts, that Lonely Island stuff, grates on my nerves. SNL doesn’t seem to be striving for the funny anymore, just the obnoxious. Kristen Wiig is a prime example of this. I KIND OF like the sketches where the guys are listening to a song, sharing stories, and singing the chorus together. I don’t know why. I’m old…I miss Celebrity Jeopardy and Will Ferrell doing Harry Carey. “What’s the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? I’m a little late to this comment, I hope it’s still valid, I had to redeem my comment coupon for it!

My dentist gives out Vicodin prescriptions pretty easily, and I’ve got quite a few left overs. I tried taking one when I wasn’t in pain (thought it’d be fun), and it isn’t really that great. It takes the pain away when you’re hurting, but doesn’t put you in a super happy way like I wanted on a normal occasion. Now I just have them for the emergency migraine…

Cricket, that’s very cool! I’ve never been to Hawaii, but my daughter has. When she was in 10th grade, the school orchestra went to Hawaii for their yearly competition, lucky girl. She’s been to Europe, too…the summer before 12th grade, she was part of a Student Ambassador group that went to Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and France. It was an awesome trip – I sure wish I’d had the chance to travel at her age.

Mystie, I’ve done the outpatient surgery thing and it’s not too bad, as long as you have someone to drive you to and from and wait while it’s being done….and to help out at home for the first couple of days or so. As far as drugs go, I’ve been on major pain meds since 2000. I was put on permanent disability stemming from back problems – I’ve have three back surgeries (the first one was emergency surgery) and ended up with some complications that affected mobility and caused something called RSD…not fun at all. Thanks to family genetics, I’ve inherited an extremely high tolerance to drugs; Vicodin never really did much for me at all, but I do know that it can cause problems for some people. Just don’t advertise the fact that you’ve got them; you never know who might be listening and decide to come over and help themselves.

When this kind of stuff keeps happening, I know that it’s time to take a break from computer monitor reading. So I’m all set to watch the Wednesday night line-up…Monster Quest, UFO Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, and Top Chef. I’ll watch Lost after midnight when On Demand has it up. That’s entertainment.

Drew,I’ve bought a couple PC sontrollers,and they’re never as good as console controllers. Also I like my TV and couch more than my 13 inch monitor and office chair.

The games are like 5 bucks,it’s not that big a deal.

Well, here was Yuan Jing’s original sentence: “There was a light ray gun in them, was side, like of Ethel Merman that you sing, it called to me. I did this, was moved really by incomprehensibly.” To me, he was saying the ray gun was like Ethel Mermen.

I know this is like criticising the paint job on the Titantic, but hey, things are slow around here.

I was overcome with joy last night to see the original G.I. Joe figures at Target (Duke, Snakeyes, Destro, etc.). I was less than thrilled to see they were priced at $6.99. Granted, the figures look to be a little slicker than the originals, but 7 bucks seem a little steep for a less-than-4-inch action figure.
