02/02/2009: Man Eating Chicken is dead.

Sorry I haven’t posted…I’ve been watching the Super Bowl for two weeks straight!!

Hmmm. Work: Riotously busy, so I won’t bother promising anything for this week. But maybe I’ll surprise you. Also, I don’t want to post once and then vanish for another month, so no worries there. The site’s like a junked car. It’s annoying to think about crawling under it to fix things, but once I do, it’ll run smoothly.

To clarify: If I don’t post for a while, it doesn’t mean I died. But then again, I suppose it could?

Speaking of death, our last fish finally kicked. Now we have a 55 gallon fish tank with nothing but water in it. Sad, but now the opportunities are endless. Any ideas? I’m thinking blue crayfish and blue crayfish exclusively.

Kid Nicky i never really got into playing Resident Evil… that series falls into my category of “call me when you get to the good part” games that are more fun to watch other people play… assuming they can get to the good part that is.

JLAJRC I want to say Leatherface could get a win over Jason, depending on which incarnation you’re talking about. Leatherface from the original 70’s movie would totally kill Jason with little to no trouble… but the cornball comic relief Leatherface from the sequel wouldn’t stand a chance, and neither would the half-assed Leatherface from the remakes.

crazy chainsaw wielding Dennis Hopper could take them both out though…

If I had to pick a Leatherface that could win against Jason, I’d go with the remake one.

TEDDY RAY – I highly recommend using the wheel for Mario Kart. At first, I hated it and wanted to use the controller, but after getting used to it I can say that it’s 1000 times better than the regular controller. Trust me on this one; I guartantee you will feel the same after using it a couple of times and you’ll never want to use the standard controller for it ever again.

The Friday the 13th Nintendo game was among the worst games ever.

Happy birthday, Annette! I hope you are going out to dinner or something. No one should have to cook their own dinner on their birthday and then have to clean up the kitchen, too. That takes all the fun out of it.

My favorite thing to order when I’m being treated for my birthday (only if I know for sure the person treating me can afford it)? Lobster. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Lobster and lots of melted butter.

Sigh.

Happy Birthday Annette! Don’t feel bad about 26. I turned 31 on Saturday and pulled my back yesterday at the gym. Never thought that I would feel my age so soon.

Any good birthday fallout, Matt?

Annette:OH, A very merry birthday ,to who, to you. A very merry birthday, to who, to you. Now blow the candles out my dear and make your wish come true. A very merry birthday, to, YOU!!! :D Enjoy it.
Trish: I love Lobster. I pretty much drool when I eat it. lol

HA! I just showed my grade 10 students the original Friday the 13th, since I am teaching them about the horror genre. They hadn’t seen it! I figured it was my duty to show them this historical film.

F13-
I’m sorry, the NES could NOT handle a first person perspective, and it’s too easy to get lost when EVERY wall in EVERY room in EVERY goddamned building lookws exactly the same.

Teddy Ray-
I totally disagree with Clockwork. I was using the wheel since Mario Kart came out, then a couple months ago I finally switched to the wheel and shave seconds off my times. Frankly,in any game that gives you a choice between regular or motion control, you’re better off with regular. The Wii’s motion control got a lot of hype at first, but it’s nowhere near as responsive as a regular controller.

Finally noticed the header. If man eating chicken is dead that will be a horrible point in my life. Probably one of the most influential characters for me since snarf, he really taught me great life lessons, and I agree with KD the Wii controller is really only only fun with tiger woods, and few other small games, if you try a COD game, oh ya it blows, but you have to love the idea of what they did create. The military is developing the same technology them selves to control robots on the front line. Can’t bitch about that.

Ghosted by Saint @ 02/09/2009 10:40 PM EST

Overall I think the Wiis motion sensor controls are awesome.
Although it can be annoying for certain games.

Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 02/09/2009 10:49 PM EST

Just not a fan of the first person shooter games, especially snipen, prefer the ps3 for those, and I am a bit old school and enjoy the buttons, my buddy has a 120 inch projection and I must say some WII games kick ass on that. And then I did witness a WII controller fly through a 65 tv. Some people just get out of control. But damn that was funny since it wasn’t mine.

For those of you who saw SNL this weekend, when Bradley Cooper was giving his Opening Monologue and showing some clips from when he was part of The Actor’s Studio, he really was there as part of the audience. I have the Spielberg special and I watched it just yesterday. Sure enough, there he was, Bradley Cooper. They had quite a few shots of him which I’m surprised they didn’t show a better one of him when they showed the Spielberg clip. Heck, he was sitting right in front of Spielberg during the Q&A session. Just thought I would point that out.

Sorry for the D.P. Totally off subject but I know a lot of people here are from the east coast. Haven’t been back in many many years. Family for generations are from Phillipsburg, NJ and do they still have Hot Dog Johnys in the part of the country, just curious good kid memories from that place.

Muppet Baby – you showed tenth graders an R rated movie? I hope you have some cool parents in your district! :)

Ghosted by bitchpants @ 02/10/2009 9:39 AM EST

No lie, my parents would have flipped their lids if a teacher showed a movie like that. Graphic violence and nudity, that’s kind of pushing it in a classroom of 15 and 16 year olds.

Ghosted by drew do @ 02/10/2009 10:09 AM EST

It was understood, this place recently a little it is cool. Should take that it goes being being discharged, in order to be able what. I think of that I last week meet in the astronaut on New Jersey. There was a light ray gun in them, was side, like of Ethel Merman that you sing, it called to me. I did this, was moved really by incomprehensibly.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys.

Trish, I did get to go out to eat! We went to Bravo Italian Kitchen. I know it’s a chain restaurant but that place is amazing. My husband got this pancetta wrapped asparagus and it was to die for. My pesto tortelloni was really good, and the cheesecake was some of the best I’d ever had. It had this stuff called creme anglaise that tasted like melted vanilla ice cream. And it had caramelized sugar all over it too. Needless to say, I have met my cholesterol requirement for like the next week or so. XD

Also, my husband gave me four DS games: Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros., Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, and My Japanese Coach. He gave me a DS purse (that’s right, a carrying case that looks like a tiny purse) aaaaand A METALLIC ROSE DS LITE! Now I can look girly while doing something nerdy like video games, and we don’t have to fight over the DS anymore! Wheeee!

Ghosted by Annette @ 02/10/2009 1:07 PM EST

No, ULTRAMAN, I’m sold on Mario Kart. I dig it. It’s the Wii itself I’m not 100% sold on.

Congratulations, mandy_Reeves! Losing weight can be a bitch…hell, I had to almost die to lose weight! No lie!

Ghosted by Teddy Ray @ 02/10/2009 2:33 PM EST

Teddy Ray: I can say with utmost sincerity that I LOVE my Wii! They’re should plenty of games for you to play. Don’t give up on it. :)

There is a Charlie Brown Valentines special on ABC tonite. Was there a holiday that CB didn’t do a special on? St. Patricks Day, maybe, as I don’t remember a “Let’s drink some green beer, CB” or “There’s a killer leprechaun after us, CB”

Ghosted by JLAJRC @ 02/10/2009 5:01 PM EST

Oooh, hope all our OKC/OK contingent is okay, looks like y’all have a big storm getting started. Everybody stay safe!

I will miss Man Eating Chicken and his elegant coif, but his demise has let me channel Toby Huss in full huckster mode every time I’ve reloaded the thread, so it’s an even trade.

“See the MAN eating CHIIIIICKEN!”

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 02/10/2009 5:26 PM EST

I offer a cheap subsitute for Man Eating Chicken- click my name to see it. (Yes, I know it’s bad, but it’s all I have!)

Ghosted by PlantMonster @ 02/10/2009 5:41 PM EST

Teddy Ray,the Wii only really has two games, but those two games are pretty damn great-Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Brawl. About once a week I consider trading in my Wii and games for credit towards a 360 or PS3,but I always think I’ll miss Brawl or MK.
I can definately tell you to avoid Wii Fit and Wii Music like the plauge, both those games are only interesting for an hour or two.

I will say, later this year we’re getting a new Punch-Out,a Ghostbusters game where the remote is your proton gun,and a Ninja Turtles smash bros. ripoff. So it’s not over yet.

I miss Matt and X-Entertainment. :(

So does “Six Foot Man” have six feet, or is he six feet tall? Isn’t that a very common height anyway?

Ghosted by Huh? @ 02/10/2009 7:14 PM EST

Woohoo! I am flying to Hawaii at the end of the month. I am a little excited…can you tell!??! :-)

Ghosted by Cricket @ 02/10/2009 7:34 PM EST

HUH- no the average height for an adult male is 5″ 8″ to 5′11″

Ghosted by Mister Stallin @ 02/10/2009 9:04 PM EST

bitchpants — Yeah- the kind of parents who don’t give a shit what happens at school just so long as WE get their kids for 8 hours of the day. I’m teaching in a very poor, very rural neighborhood where they are just happy to have ALMOST enough teachers this year. The principal lets us do whatever we want, as long as we stick around. Plus, it was absolutely a lesson in the horror genre, the study of cliches, and they learned to write movie reviews!

Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 02/10/2009 9:18 PM EST

I’m gonna have to disagree BIG TIME with Kid Nicky and say the Wii has A LOT more than two games. Check around for yourself teddy ray. Plus you can get Wii points cards and download some AWESOME classic games.
Muppet Baby:Why couldn’t I have had teachers like you growin up. :)

Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 02/10/2009 9:54 PM EST

I’ll be gracious and say the Wii has 5 games. Mine + Nicky’s

;)

Ghosted by Neg @ 02/10/2009 9:58 PM EST

Well, the downloadable classics are pretty cool, and that game show downloadable game was good for what it was.
I still need to get River City Ransom on there.

I can’t believe Yuan Jing is still going strong. I’ll never understand what motivates gimmick posters beyond the first couple posts. Why bother doing it for weeks on end?

Ghosted by Kid Nicky @ 02/10/2009 10:05 PM EST

So….kinda of concerned. a new Friday the 13th movie is nearly here and no weigh in from Matt :(

Ghosted by chrander @ 02/10/2009 10:19 PM EST

Represent, mandy_Reeves! Remember, fiber is your most awesomest friend second only to drinking fucktons of water.

So I gotta get my gallbladder removed blaaahhhhh. But thankfully I don’t have to stay overnight in the hospital, just at the outpatient clinic for a few hours. And I’m still holding to that big bottle of Vicodin, I haven’t had an attack yet this week… I’m not much of a pill-popper so I’m torn between being scared to take it and thinking that it could be totally awesome.

Ghosted by Mystie @ 02/10/2009 11:02 PM EST

Kid Nicky

Yuan Jing is awesome.

Also, Other cool Wii Games: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, both Trauma Centers.

Deadly Creatures just came out and it’s supposed to be pretty good.

Mystie – As someone who is on and off Morphine for my Crohn’s Disease, I recommend you take it when you need it – no need to live in pain. Taking it when you DON’T need it (which I admit I have done) made me totally sick, however. So much for good times. :P

Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 02/10/2009 11:23 PM EST

Kid Nicky- Maybe Yuan Jing is the real deal.

Mysite- Whatever you do, do not watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show under the influence of painkillers. This is experience talking.

Ghosted by PlantMonster @ 02/10/2009 11:45 PM EST

I used to know someone who posted like Yuan Jing. Then he became normal and it turned out he was an ass.

Quite sad. I miss the old him, sometimes. Not often, though.

Ghosted by Neg @ 02/11/2009 1:54 AM EST

Mystie,
As a pharmacy student, I should remind you of the highly addicitve properties of Vicodin, so if you’re going to use it, be extremely careful. Follow your dosage to the letter, take no more than it says, yadda yadda yadda.
