My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

7777.

I was hoping my first post after a seventeen year drought of blog entries would be more substantial, but I had work today, so all you get is filler.

The Advent Calendar isn't finished. I feel okay with this, because we still haven't taken down our Christmas tree. I'm serious. And it's a real tree. And the decorations are still on it. And it's right in the middle of our living room window, so it's not like we can keep this dastardly secret to ourselves. Believe me, it has nothing to do with refusing to let go. When you get down to it, we're just kind of disgusting,

Or maybe the Advent Calendar is finished, but linked in mysterious ways. It's very doubtful and I'm probably lying.

I don't owe anyone anything. I was quoted on the Ghoulies IV DVD box, for Christ's sake. You're lucky I turned down Hollywood.

I hope everyone's well. I don't have work tomorrow, so unless I come up with some brillaint excuse to get out of writing, there will be new, actual content here. What will it be about? I'm not allowed to tell you.

Clearly, a survey is in order. In the comments, tell us your least favorite movie of all time. It doesn't need to be the worst movie you've ever seen, because bad movies can be great. Muster all of your personal bias, and present the reasons why "Movie X" makes you want to kill people with rocks.

Once I finish building my robot, I'll join in.

JLAJRC just out of curiosity, what didnt you like about Science of Sleep? I thought it was a beautiful movie… your the first person i’ve ever heard say anything bad about it…

i’m in the middle of watching The Cave… it may prove to be worthy of this bad movies list by the end…

oh, just so i don’t forget and keep this to myself, best peter jackson movies ever have to be bad taste, and brain dead… GREAT cheesy b-horror-movies, and whoever decided that he would make a good LOTR series was “some kinda wonderful, YES HE IS!” i mean, who would think “huh, this guy makes crappily good alien, and zombie movies, lets put him in charge of one of the most anticipated book-to-movie renditions ever”…awesome…anyway… anything by rob zombie pisses me off… he should be beaten with a stick for that pile of crap he calls “halloween” and, me being a 6’7″ guy with long hair, last halloween, i got thousands of “dude! you should totally be michael mires for halloween!”s…FUCK. THAT!. nothing cna beat john carpenter

See, Debs, I don’t mind Jim Carrey all that much. In fact, I like most of his movies (Ace Venturas and Cable Guy excepted). The Ventura movies just grind my gears for some reason.

Cat the Vampire Slayer, I didn’t “get” Napoleon Dynamite when I first saw it either. Then, I talked it over with some friends and found myself laughing at some of the stuff they thought was funny. Now I really enjoy the odd, quirky bastard of a movie. Strangely enough, I didn’t like The Big Lebowski the first time I watched it, then watched it with some friends who loved it. Now, it’s one of my favorite movies.

borloff1313, I actually kind of like Jumanji, but that’s not my point. That’s not one of the Wayans brothers, it’s David Allen Grier, which still isn’t a whole lot better.

Rev., this is what fearless leader looks like…or at least his alter-ego, Madd Matt. Just subtract the makeup: http://209.50.251.48/pics6/mm1.jpg

TOmmy! How dare you desecrate the names of two of my favorite movies by one of my favorite directors! You know what?? There is no Easter Bunny!

squee4242, I haven’t seen Cloverfield, but if you have a friend that harshing on Lost, it’s time to reconsider that friendship.

I also really like Sin City. And I didn’t get Donnie Darko.

Worst movie I’ve ever seen?
Has to be a toss up between Second Sight and Supernova. Second Sight because it’s downright terrible and I hate Bronson Pinchot and Supernova because it’s a cheesy Event Horizon ripoff and because I hate James Spader and his overrated stroked ego.

Deb,

I actually have a kind of interesting story about Mr. Holland’s Opus. When I was in high school, I took two years of American Sign Language as a language class. Our teacher, Mrs. Macaluso, told us about how she was involved in the making of the movie, including how she taught Richard Dreyfuss ASL. She also made a quick split-second appearance on-screen as a teacher at the deaf school. She also dated the man who played Holland’s son as an adult, but they broke up because he couldn’t commit. At least, that’s her version of the events.

i hate multi posting, but as for horribly awesome movies go, anything by troma has to be good…pot zombies, redneck zombies, jesus christ: vampire hunter, all the toxic avenger movies… instant classics, all of them…and to those who haven’t indulged in these DO SO IMMEDIATELY!

Chestnuts roasted by BIG suzy @ 01/17/2009 5:59 PM

I actually liked “Envy”. It’s one of those movies you have take for what it is, a turn-off-your-brain-and-enjoy-stupidity films.

VA-POO-RIZE!!!!

If I even hear the name ARMAGEDDON my skin crawls. For starters, we don’t quite have the technology to land people on an asteroid (let alone untrained imbeciles), and the last thing you would want to do would be to blow it up if you want to save the earth. Not to mention, every actor in the movie is ridiculously irritating when they’re usually not otherwise.

Chestnuts roasted by Clockwork @ 01/17/2009 6:21 PM

Oh, Donnie Darko really annoyed me. They tried so hard at doing a David Lynch-style film that could’ve worked, except they then explained everything, which ended up being really lame and didn’t make much sense. Oh, it’s all time-travelling. Bah! It would’ve been better if they reduced that element and left it open ended. Maybe it’s best that Lynch never explains what his films are about.

And don’t get me started on the exploitative 80s stuff throughout the movie (yeah, I get that it’s the 80s… STOP THROWING 80S CULTURE REFERENCES AT ME!!!)

But Dr T and the Women does eat the cake on really bad (but not good-bad, just plain bad-bad) films. I still wake up at night screaming…

Pet Sematary 2: Big suck.
Any movie with Diane Keaton. With the exception of The Godfathers.
Phantom Menace

Tommy: I just thought it was just imagery for the sake of imagery. I don’t even remember what the story was about (or if it even had one). It was just very boring. Didn’t the director of it also do “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?” Now that was a fantastic movie that used it’s weird imagery beautifully (I also didn’t mind Being John Malcovish).

As you can see I think the biggest movie crime is to bore me. At least with a bad movie I can do a “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ thing with it. But put me to sleep? Nope.

I just thought three more bad movies: The Who’s Tommy, Pink Floyd’s The Wall, and The Cars that Ate Paris.

Great music, bad movies. Great title for that last one.

Wasn’t a big fan of Bram Stokers Dracula.

vegas vacation. way to completely destroy the last teeny remnants of a franchise that brought me 2 of the funniest movies of all time. (x-mas and the original)

There’s one reason I don’t like this thread. I had finally finished forgetting the movie “Solaris”. I had completely forgotten it! Now that I remember it, I’m going to have to go all the way through therapy again!

Teddy Ray its not my fault that all of kevin smiths movies are about the same characters who all have spontaneous conversations that are WAY too thought out to be spontaneous… dont get me wrong, he has his moments of brilliance, i actually would have really liked to see his versions of Superman and the Green Hornet, all im saying is that if he doesnt get over this “lets write everything like its the middle 90′s because that was my favorite time to be alive” formula, then his days in the spotlight will soon be over…

Chestnuts roasted by TOmmy! @ 01/17/2009 6:44 PM

Brent, I totally agree about Dreamcatcher. Why the fuck did the alien have a British accent? It make absolutely no sense.

Dungeons & Dragons was horrible, I will agree with that. My friends (who were HEAVILY into D&D back then) fell into a deep denial of its suckitude for weeks after the movie was released. Once they accepted the truth, however, the healing began…

A movie I haven’t seen mentioned yet (but could have just overlooked) was No Holds Barred with everyone’s favorite Orange Goblin, HULK MOTHERFUCKIN’ HOGAN.

And Freddy Got Fingered WAS an abomination of cinema. I feel like crying just thinking about it.

Chestnuts roasted by Steve @ 01/17/2009 7:38 PM

What about Corky Romano? I was surprised that wasn’t mentioned yet. Also, Soldier. I actually poured my drink on myself in the theater so I could bail on my friends who were watching it with me.

Chestnuts roasted by jdizzle @ 01/17/2009 7:53 PM

The Notebook. Probably one of the most depressing movies I’ve ever seen.

Chestnuts roasted by JDiz @ 01/17/2009 7:57 PM

Corky Romano has some redeeming moments. Doesn’t make it GOOD, but it keeps it off my list of BAD. Never saw Soldier.

Chestnuts roasted by Steve @ 01/17/2009 8:00 PM

ULTRAMAN, whats scary is the opposite of what you mentioned. No matter how awful some movies are (and I mean universally hated) there will ALWAYS be somebody who thinks its the greatest movie ever. Case in point, there is a amazon.com user who swears that Baby Geniuses 1 & 2 are the best movies ever made.

Chestnuts roasted by Barry @ 01/17/2009 8:02 PM

That’s insane, Barry. Everyone knows that Baby Geniuses can’t hold a candle to Honey, I Blew Up The Kid!

Chestnuts roasted by Steve @ 01/17/2009 8:04 PM

The Adventures of Pluto Nash. Haven’t seen it, though Daffy Duck made a reference to it in Duck Dodgers a
few years ago.

Fifteen Minutes.

The Swimmer with Burt Lancaster, dreadful ending. Don’t watch it. Both versions of Black Christmas. Don’t make
a movie and not identify the killer. American History X
is bad.

Looking forward to SNT.

Chestnuts roasted by LoneStar76 @ 01/17/2009 8:17 PM

This is an interesting topic. The opinions run the gamut and I love it. I see movies listed here I actually like, some I’m indifferent to, and some I absolutely would never watch again. Its fun to see how tastes vary so much. I guess variety really is the spice of life.

Chestnuts roasted by Jack @ 01/17/2009 8:21 PM

The worst movie I have ever seen was The Wild World of Batwoman. Even when it was on MST3K, Mike and the Bots couldn’t do anything to make this movie watchable. Don’t get me wrong, the Bots and Mike were great, but the movie just sucked so bad it canceled out the comedy!

And Napoleon Dynamite did suck balls, but if I had gone with that first, it would have lead to a “Movies I Want to Kill People for Watching” list that would take hours to read.

Tact, I has it.

Chestnuts roasted by Captain Will @ 01/17/2009 8:33 PM

Captain Will,

Personally, I don’t hate Napoleon Dynamite but I don’t love it either. It’s one of those movies that just completely passed me by. I’ve seen parts of it, but not start to finish.

My sister used to do the same thing all the time with Rushmore, watching it bit by bit, never the whole way through. My other sister and I used to hate it, but when we actually watched the movie the whole way through, I enjoyed it. It’s also my favorite movie soundtrack ever.

Chestnuts roasted by Thomas @ 01/17/2009 8:52 PM

A few movies I detest.

Napoleon Dynamite
The Notebook
Sideways
Bad Santa
and I know I’m going to get a lot of crap for this one but…Fight Club.
