My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

7777.

I was hoping my first post after a seventeen year drought of blog entries would be more substantial, but I had work today, so all you get is filler.

The Advent Calendar isn't finished. I feel okay with this, because we still haven't taken down our Christmas tree. I'm serious. And it's a real tree. And the decorations are still on it. And it's right in the middle of our living room window, so it's not like we can keep this dastardly secret to ourselves. Believe me, it has nothing to do with refusing to let go. When you get down to it, we're just kind of disgusting,

Or maybe the Advent Calendar is finished, but linked in mysterious ways. It's very doubtful and I'm probably lying.

I don't owe anyone anything. I was quoted on the Ghoulies IV DVD box, for Christ's sake. You're lucky I turned down Hollywood.

I hope everyone's well. I don't have work tomorrow, so unless I come up with some brillaint excuse to get out of writing, there will be new, actual content here. What will it be about? I'm not allowed to tell you.

Clearly, a survey is in order. In the comments, tell us your least favorite movie of all time. It doesn't need to be the worst movie you've ever seen, because bad movies can be great. Muster all of your personal bias, and present the reasons why "Movie X" makes you want to kill people with rocks.

Once I finish building my robot, I'll join in.

Babylon A.D. Awful, Awful, Awful.
I rented for a dollar and want my money back.
I told everyone at work the next day not to bother.
Kind of reminded me of Johnny Mnemonic but WORSE.
I should have turned it off when it began with the Vin Diesel voice-over but alas I did not.
One more time Awful, Awful, Awful
(I have had to get that out of my system for a couple days now)

Has anybody here actually seen Battlefield Earth? I’ve heard tell of how bad it is but I’ve been afraid to actually try to watch it.

k didnt mean to bring the place down. was more looking for the yes-men (yes-matts) to hopefully shake matt out of apathy. i like reading the articles but its getting to the point where i dont bother checking until a month goes by and then eventually i’ll just forget about it. and participating in the comments/forum isnt quite as enjoyable as it is to most of the people in here just seeking validation. i dont see why every negative comment has to be considered “trollish”. guess i forgot to take the blue pill this morning.

cynicism can result in positive outcomes too, ya know?! i love XE but i dont want to stick around to watch it slowly die. and any attempt to get the guy who was quoted on ghoulies iv, to get off his lazy ass and recognize his obligation to entertain those who have given this site life, is quickly thwarted by .

ignore the “troll”. ignorance is bliss!

but remember dont get me wet, expose me to sunlight, and for the love of God dont feed me (after midnight).

Annette

Battlefield Earth is just as terrible as you have been led to belive. Thats only my humble opinion though.

I’m ready for more new Lost. I was alittle slow on the uptake, but a few weeks ago I found a picture of the blast door map, and they mentioned the Valenzetti Equation! I never caught it before. Valenzetti Equation !? Holy hell……stuffs about to get crazy. Super crazy.

This will be my last movie entry before the SNT. People, this movie was bad. It show’s how sad this man’s career
has become. I’m glad I never paid to see this movie.
Does he hate fat people? The movie I’m talking about is
the awful piece of crap movie named Norbit. Need I say
more?

Tonight’s SNT topic will be, The History of Medieval Siege Weapons, or whatever we can think of.

Matt, whatever happened to Skeletor?

Annette, I’ve been seeing Battlefield Earth listed on On Demand and wondered about it, too. If you want something really good to watch (if you have On Demand), go to the Sundance menu in Free Movies. They’ve got a whole bunch of past nominated and winning movies up until the 27th, and I just watched Wristcutters: A Love Story. It’s a dark comedy/romance, and it’s excellent. I’d give it 5 Mares (the good ones).

ChallengeChesnut, I came across a site where the guy has put incredible amounts of time and thought into Lost and what it all means. It’s pretty interesting: http://timelooptheory.com/index.html.

LoneStar76, maybe Eddie doesn’t need the money so he’s doing movies as favors for friends. Or maybe he just doesn’t care anymore.

Tonight is the Miss America pageant, and I’ll be watching my best friend’s daughter, Miss California, compete. Good luck, Jackie!!

Trying to cause a ruckus -> trolling. Posting tiresome repetition -> trolling. Posting impassioned screeds of tl:dr about why x-e iz ded -> trolling. As well as being proof that one needs emotional validation for their wee little temper tantrums. IMHO

ChallengeChesnut, you may need to brace yourself for this, but one of the victims of Flight 815 just so happened to have written a now out-of-print book called The Valenzetti Equation. All the known remaining copies are believed to have been bought by a Mr. Alvar Hanso ;)

I just read an article yesterday on Epicurious about the top 10 money saving ingredients. They picked potatoes, rice, pasta, chicken, beans, apples, canned tuna, eggs, cheese and flank steak. I’ve gotta go with Trish about getting the most bang from your buck by making something big and stretching it out into a lot of meals. You can do the same thing with a chicken as a turkey and turn it into a soup after it’s dinner, or make a big batch of spaghetti sauce and freeze some. Then during Poor Week (which is always the week before Pay Day when you’re broke, as I recall ;) ) all you have to do is scrape together some pasta.

Hey I have an idea! Since Matt is too busy to update and delete trolls, why not appoint some of you regulars to be able to post articles? I know other blogs/sites have multiple authors. I think it would be interesting to see what some of you veterans would post. That could be an interesting SNT.

Who would you like to see share XE/What kind of article/topic would you post?

dave: Simply wanting articles more often and other stuff, doesn’t make you a troll in my opinion. What makes someone a troll, IMO, is when they DEMAND those things in a rude way and and insult the very man who provides those things for free. I’m not saying youv’e done these things, I’m simply stating what my definition of a troll is. On the other hand , just asking for an update, in a nice way, every now and then is perfectly fine. :) Matt isn’t above criticism. He’s just like anybody else. He’s said this himself. It’s all about balance. Don’t be a troll OR a brownnoser. Happy SNT ya’ll. If this turns out to be it.

Bakayaro, except for in it’s infancy, X-E has always been a solo endeavor and that’s a part of the charm. At one point when it actually really did seem to be getting quiet around here (maybe a year or so ago?) I kind of hoped that rather than going out gently into that good night that X-E could live on as a social network, for the Us that would still be around. But then things changed, as they often do, and the update schedule changed, as it often does, and I figured no matter what happens in the end it’s probably for the best that this is and always will be Matt’s show. The camel is a horse designed by committee, and all that.

That being said, you’ve given me an excuse to link my Megasaga style adventures with my awesome Ben Linus LOST figure, so I’m taking it ;)

lol, Liquorhead, Squee. I like some of his stuff just fine, but the 70s toys kinda threw me. I know I’m ancient, but I’m not THAT old ;)

Well, I am. You know, it’s truly amazing how your inner self’s age doesn’t come anywhere near to matching your chronological age. Amazing…and totally not fair!

Re: Worst Movie: “The Prophecy” with Talia Shire.

Logging company pollutes lake with mercury from some (pulping?) process. The mutant creature was a bear and Shire was on the move with the bear’s mutated cub.

Read the book it is based on. As is so often the case it is far superior to the movie.

This is true Trish! I love Pokemon way too much for someone my age :p

Didn’t mean any offense by it. I’m just used to being in the oldest age bracket at Shrine.

March 22nd, Ultraman. FINALLY.

Now if we’d just get some info on Apollo Justice 2 and Perfect Prosecutor I could die happy.

Happy SNT everyone! I am drinking plum wine and about to watch Antonio Bandaras be all suave in Mask of Zorro. Also, I got the 20th Anniversary Mystery Science Theater 3000 set shortly after Christmas and it was well worth the dough. My Crow T. Robot figurine guards my desk lamp (and watches me masturbate!)

Chestnuts roasted by Cheetara @ 01/24/2009 10:08 PM

LoneStar76: I do not have anything to offer on the topic of Medieval siege weapons, but today I watched a scene in season 2 of The Tudors where a man was boiled in oil. Even though I knew it was obviously fake, it still made me feel rather sick.

Chestnuts roasted by Cheetara @ 01/24/2009 10:13 PM

I hope the robot Matt is working on didn’t develop it’s own consciousness and imprison him against his will.

Cheetara: I hope he makes witty and biting commentary while he does so.

Cheetara
LOL too much information on the Crow T. Robot figure…. ;)

Happy SNT, guys….I’ve had a pretty lazy day…It’s been really cold here…Well, compared to yesterday, anyway. It was 80 yesterday. Mid 30s today. Damn…

Guys, I think Matt really owes us something. Like an Advent Calendar update or something.
