7777.

I was hoping my first post after a seventeen year drought of blog entries would be more substantial, but I had work today, so all you get is filler.

The Advent Calendar isn't finished. I feel okay with this, because we still haven't taken down our Christmas tree. I'm serious. And it's a real tree. And the decorations are still on it. And it's right in the middle of our living room window, so it's not like we can keep this dastardly secret to ourselves. Believe me, it has nothing to do with refusing to let go. When you get down to it, we're just kind of disgusting,

Or maybe the Advent Calendar is finished, but linked in mysterious ways. It's very doubtful and I'm probably lying.

I don't owe anyone anything. I was quoted on the Ghoulies IV DVD box, for Christ's sake. You're lucky I turned down Hollywood.

I hope everyone's well. I don't have work tomorrow, so unless I come up with some brillaint excuse to get out of writing, there will be new, actual content here. What will it be about? I'm not allowed to tell you.

Clearly, a survey is in order. In the comments, tell us your least favorite movie of all time. It doesn't need to be the worst movie you've ever seen, because bad movies can be great. Muster all of your personal bias, and present the reasons why "Movie X" makes you want to kill people with rocks.

Once I finish building my robot, I'll join in.

mandy_Reeves, I am SO sorry for your loss and will be remembering you and your family in my prayers.

Jan. 22nd…….Jess won’t stop bitching about the advent calendar.

Geez two and a half blog posts for January, we’re having a good time, and all Rob can do is bitch.

Happy birthday, Morfnblorsh! And I respectfully disagree…tit-shots are ALWAYS necessary.

Dr Sketch, I think they release the McRib in different areas at different times, but I share in your rejoicing…I loves me some McRib!

My X-E myspace peeps may have seen this, but: Today Jennie (my wife) was getting ready to leave for work. While she was starting her car, my mom pulled into the driveway to come sit with me and Jennie didn’t see her. Mom got out of her car and was getting some things from her backseat. Jennie began backing out of the driveway, didn’t see my mom, hit her open door, and pinned my mom between the door and her car. The ambulance took her to the hospital where they discovered both of her fibulas were broken. This actually isn’t too bad, because the fibula is not the weight-bearing bone. They said they were going to put neo mobilizers (whatever they are) on her and she’d be able to get around with a walker. They were going to let her go home, but her vitals weren’t looking good, so they’re keeping her at least overnight. They think she may just be dehydrated, but they’re not sure. So please…pray for my mom. Thanks.

The site really hasn’t been slowing down, in fact the community activity here has been surging upward for quite a while now.

We’re the most active now that we’ve ever been, from what I’ve seen. Lack of posts doesn’t deter us in the slightest. To think that the site, and its associated activity only entails Matt’s updates and content completely overlooks the importance of those of us who gather here. We are just as much a part of the X-E…endeavor(!) as Matt is.

This really is one of the most unique places on the interbutz, and we need to be grateful to Matt and each other.

GROUP HUG PEOPLE!

Sorry to double post yet again, but to all my fellow Losties, wasn’t last night wondermous?!?

I saw the Blair Witch project in the theatre when it came out and was so disappointed. So lame.

Teddy, I think you’re right, but my brain is currently floating in bar-b-cue, so I can’t think quite straight. I seem to remember them doing a farewell tour for it a few years ago… anyone else remember that?

I also seem to remember there being a Simpson’s spoof of the McRib involving an endangered species (which was why you could only get it at certain times). Anyone else remember this?

Teddy Ray, that’s awful…your poor mom! I hope she recovers quickly. And I hope your wife doesn’t feel guilty about it.

I watched Lost today on On Demand and am going to watch it again to see if I can pick up anything else. It was excellent!

I’m practicing both my patience and my faith by browsing through the archives here…it’s a very enjoyable pastime.

Yes, Lost was great to finally have back again!

Dr Sketch I think the episode your thinking of is “I’m Spelling as Fast as I Can” from the 14th season, and here it is!

My daughter is home! My daughter is home!!! Just shy of her 3 month old birthday, but she is finally in my arms. I am an unlicensed nurse now, as I have been taught to take care of her dressings, run her central line infusions, etc. How cool is it that I have a disposable sharpies box in my apartment?

And yes, LOST was great. But I had to miss the last 20 minutes because they had to switch rooms out. :(

Oh, Teddy Ray, that’s terrible. Good vibes are on the way for your mom to heal soon :)

Congrats on bringing the baby home, Ash! I bet it has been a long three months.

LOVED the new LOST, but then, I always do :D What I don’t always do is get a cameo from one of my very favorite dead Losties, so that was a nice bonus.

ThePlatinumStag: X-E will be around for a long time to come. So if yur actually worried that it wont be, relax. :) Matt loves X-E just as much as we do. True it’s not his whole life, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about it. So put yur worries to rest.

Dr Sketch,
I remember that episode of The Simpsons! I remember what Krusty said about the sandwich (which was called the Krusty Ribwich):
“We had to stop making it because the animal it was made from went extinct…it was like a cow, but smaller, and had more legs.”

Chestnuts roasted by Anonymous @ 01/23/2009 2:53 AM

One: What circle of hell has this entry gone to?

Two: The discussion of infomercials in the last blog finally persuaded me to create…THE PITCHMAN MARCH MADNESS.

Much like the March Madness with College Basketball, I’ve decided to organize a tournament of sorts to determine the Greatest Infomercial Pitchperson™. With brackets and everything. I’ve got 16 Pitchmen lined up, all I have to do is seed them, order them into their brackets, and, oh yeah, figure out how to conduct this to determine the winner.

Not to double post, but someone has apparantly pressed the “Summon Simpsons Geek” Button.

I also seem to remember there being a Simpson’s spoof of the McRib involving an endangered species (which was why you could only get it at certain times). Anyone else remember this?

Like “Anonymous” said, yes, the parody version was called the Ribwich, and it gave the consumer a Requiem For A Dream-esque high moment as soon as you took a bite. Like the McRib itself, it only appeared in one town for a limited time, and Homer joins a Deadheads parody group dedicated toi following it around. Until Krusty proclaims that the animal that the Ribwich was made out of became extinct and threw the last Ribwich at them to fight over.

“We had to stop making it because the animal it was made from went extinct…it was like a cow, but smaller, think more legs.”

That was roughly the exact quote.

It appeared as the B-plot in “I’m Spelling as Fast as I Can,” which featured the late George Plympton.

I can’t believe I forgot to put my name. I am the “Anonymous” from a few posts up. Thanks for acknowledging me though, Invader Norbert.

Advance apologies for a very long post which will most likely be of no interest to anyone except those with kids:

Ash is Finally a Mommy! – that’s wonderful to hear. If you posted previously about your daughter’s health problems, I missed it – but I know what it’s like to have a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. My firstborn had some medical issues and was hospitalized for three weeks. We’d gone home the day after he was born (36 hour labor but he seemed fine at birth). The next morning I was trying to feed him and he wouldn’t nurse; he was fussy and acting strangely and then he had a seizure. We took him right over to our doctor’s office and he had another seizure there, and so we were sent by ambulance to the hospital. He was finally diagnosed with hyperglycemia – he was producing too much insulin which is usually caused by a pancreatic tumor, but not in his case. They didn’t know what was causing it, but it could be controlled by medication.

When he was discharged, I had to use these little sharps to poke his tiny toes and feet every few hours in order to check his blood sugar level. The soles of his little feet were completely covered with pinpricks, poor baby. A side effect of the seizures was that he completely lost his sucking reflex so he couldn’t breastfeed or drink from a bottle. One of his doctors told me that he’d never be able to breastfeed and the other one said I might as well try. After he came home, I had to tube feed him by putting a tube down his nose and into his stomach and then sending formula through the tube. Meanwhile I tried to get him to take a bottle, which I hated. I had really wanted to nurse him, and the formula was expensive and it smelled nasty. What kept me going was hearing that doctor say it would never work. I never wanted to prove anyone wrong so badly until then. Eventually he could take a bottle, and then I was able to completely breastfeed him.

My baby had to be on a special medication round the clock to control his insulin production, and it wasn’t until a glucose tolerance test was done when he was a year old that he went off the medication. Finally, I felt like I could relax because I had a baby who was just like all the other babies and I no longer had any special concerns to worry about.

So I can relate to having a baby who needs specialized care. I didn’t have any relatives living nearby and my ex wasn’t any help. I hope you’re luckier than I was in that respect. Especially as far as getting help so that you get a break once in awhile; you’ll need that.

I hope everything goes well for you – enjoy that sweet little girl!

Hm… what do all of you think about the “… Movie” series? I *knew* I was missing some movies that absolutely make me want to destroy Hollywood with the Death Star.. and THAT was it.. I’m still waiting for something I haven’t seen since the first Scary Movie…

FUNNY movie.

There’s a difference between mockery and just stealing good ideas, trying to make them funny and just making them worse.

Happy Birthday to all those I missed on your birthdays..

Mandy – my condolences and my thoughts are with you.

Teddy – That’s terrible. I hope she’ll be okay!

What I miss about the site is the nostalgic 80s/early 90s feel it used to have. Articles on various Nintendo games, Muscle Men, He-Man, Garbage Pail Kids, etc. were the absolute best. Still love the site though.

The Frogs is probably the worst movie I have EVER seen!!

Chestnuts roasted by George @ 01/23/2009 10:38 AM

The movie I’ve most recently seen that made me want to punch someone in the face was Children of the Living Dead. It was terribly made, terribly written, terribly scripted, terribly acted, but worst of all, it had the audacity to suggest it was part of George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” canon.

I well exactly from traveling arrived to New York, stopped with Atlantic City and Hoboken. Because New Jersey goes to the distance from the city around side, really the crappy place, that it becomes, really is splendidly, but. I did not obtain the tree, but Gray’s papaya. The fact that the is eaten was obtained. Liked the of is and I that really. The well which for the present is everything.
