I was hoping my first post after a seventeen year drought of blog entries would be more substantial, but I had work today, so all you get is filler.

The Advent Calendar isn't finished. I feel okay with this, because we still haven't taken down our Christmas tree. I'm serious. And it's a real tree. And the decorations are still on it. And it's right in the middle of our living room window, so it's not like we can keep this dastardly secret to ourselves. Believe me, it has nothing to do with refusing to let go. When you get down to it, we're just kind of disgusting,

Or maybe the Advent Calendar is finished, but linked in mysterious ways. It's very doubtful and I'm probably lying.

I don't owe anyone anything. I was quoted on the Ghoulies IV DVD box, for Christ's sake. You're lucky I turned down Hollywood.

I hope everyone's well. I don't have work tomorrow, so unless I come up with some brillaint excuse to get out of writing, there will be new, actual content here. What will it be about? I'm not allowed to tell you.

Clearly, a survey is in order. In the comments, tell us your least favorite movie of all time. It doesn't need to be the worst movie you've ever seen, because bad movies can be great. Muster all of your personal bias, and present the reasons why "Movie X" makes you want to kill people with rocks.

Once I finish building my robot, I'll join in.

I’m kinda new to this portion of the website, but I thought there might be someone who understands my pain ont this one. I took my son to a McD’s playland this morning and started chatting with one of the other moms that was there. We were both talking about video games and such, and being a proud little nerdette I had to brag about my collection of defunct game systems. I only have 4 so far, but the crown jewel at the moment is a complete working atari 2600. When I mentioned the atari- the woman just looked at me blankly and asked, “what is that?”. I almost cried.

I have a working Atari 2600 and 2800 at home. I cleaned, repaired and refurbished them myself. I’m not sure why I’m bragging about that, it’s not like it was hard.

Oh, Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky is awesome. I saw it in a theater on Halloween along with Shaun of the Dead. I’d heard about it for years, and I understood why once I saw it. Looks like the whole thing is on Google Video, although they’ve got it categorized as “pornographic”. Probably for the buckets of Kool Aid that gets spilled…

Honestly, Jess, if it’s so awful, just let it go and move on. Some of us don’t have to worry about our fun ending just because the Advent hasn’t, so it’s really your issue to bear. See you in another life, brothah.

I can’t claim to have fixed mine up- I only went to about 5 goodwills to get all the parts for it. I pulled the same stunt with the nintendo- if I had only kept the ones from when I was kid!!

To be honest, the advent calendar delay is getting pretty stupid. Maybe next year, there shouldn’t be dates on it. Just a calendar with blank days, so it could last for as long as you wanted. At this point, I think a lot of people don’t give a shit what happens.

Way back in the early days of The Daily Show, when Craig Kilborn was the host, they used a loop from “Ricky-Oh” as the intro to the infamous “Five Questions” portion of the interview segment. The part where the dude get his head popped like a rotten melon.

Wow, Morfnblorsh, that story of luv-gone-nowhere makes me want to go home, and fire up either my SNES and play Bust-a-Move (aka Puzzle Bobble), or TransFormers:The Movie so when Unicron blows up, I can yell, “That one’s for playing hacky-sack with Morfn’s expectations!” In fact, it’s past closing time, so I’m off!

Morfnblorsh I totally know how you feel. Every relationship I’ve ever been in over the past two years has gone like this: (and I do mean EVERY one)

We meet. We hit it off. We hang out a few times. She acts as if she legitimately IS having fun. I never try to “make a move” or act innapropriately.

One day I call, and she doesn’t answer. She stops responding on her myspace. She just…vanishes. It’s happened with ex girlfriends, ex friends, ex everything! I’ve gotten used to it, I just wish sometimes that the girl would have the common courtesy to tell me whats up.

So yeah, I feel for you.

I for one hope the 2008 AC never gets finished. It’ll be one of those great things that is destined to exist forever in limbo. Kind of like the ending to the Berserk anime (or lack thereof).

Besides, Matt has a life too ya know. When I get home from work I know the last thing I want to do is photograph toys and script dialogue for them to say. No, I’d rather drink a beer and watch Cash Cab until I feel tired enough to go to bed. It’s the American Dream.

Hmmm…worst movie? That movie with Ben Assfleck and Bruce Willis where the asteroid’s going to hit Earth. Yes, it was mentioned earlier, and given The Agony Booth treatment, but it’s so bad, so stupid, and so contrived (now mit stupid “cute” dialogue mit animal crackers!) It made me want to not only punch babies, but boil them in beer and drink the results. Oy vey!

Another stupid one? The Search for the Pink Panther–a feature length film that gets the “Fake Shemp” treatment. Hey, if the Stooges couldn’t get away with it for 18 minutes, how did Blake Edwards think he could for 70+?! At least there were 2 other Stooges who could carry a film–nothing could help “Search.”

Has there ever been a good movie starring a dead person that didn’t come out last year?

SQUEE – I’m here. I just died of happiness for awhile. LOST rocked my face off! I am loving it.

Just the thought that Matt would never update again, as someone suggested…makes me very sad. XE has been a staple of my internet life since 2001, and I think we would all have to migrate somewhere together in order to keep chatting since the XE crew is ridiculously fantastic.

Man, it pains me to say this, but the glory days of the site have come to an end. I remember getting a new ARTICLE (not blog entry) every couple of days. I’m not by any means criticizing anything, and I personally don’t think Matt is obligated to update more often than he wants, but just stating the truth.

Instead of 3 more entries to the Advent Calendar, Matt should do just one, and give the story a Deus Ex
Machina ending. Just like Raiders of The Lost Ark.

I think X-E is JUST AS glorious as it’s always been! :) Life gets in the way of certain things whether you like it or not. I honestly believe that Matt would update alot more often, if he didn’t have other stuff that demands his attention. I’m NOT a brown noser! I can’t STAND brown nosers, so trust me when I say this. It’s just that things happen. You learn to deal with em.

The site has been getting less and less active.

I don’t know, makes me sad. I used to come and read about random Ninja Turtles and Nintendo stuff, learn my new 80′s fact for the day. Then the articles slowly turned to simple blog posts…slowly turned to bi-monthly updates.

Not that I’m complaining (before you rabidly-over-defensive posters jump on me) but it does make me sad to see a staple that brought me through middle-school, high-school, and college is slowly becoming scaled down.

I realize that life gets busy, things get in the way and it gets harder to be motivated, but…

I hope Matt keeps updating.
