Hey, it’s been a long, strange year and you should be resting. Thanks for the entertainment and you’ll finish when you finish. Besides it kinda prolongs Christmas which is fine by me, it’s like putting a jawbreaker in the fridge half sucked for a few days…something to look forward to.
Happy New Year East Coast People! Still about 45 more minutes here.

Woo wooo woo!!! Happy New Year!! I’m having a hard time giving up xmas, though. Just watched Pee Wee Christmas and drank eggnog. It’s not over, it’s not over, it’s not over…
Hope everyone has a safe and fun time tonight. Happy New Year!
I didn’t even get to watch White Christmas this season….Oh well, the multiple viewings of Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation more than made up for it.

Yay, you’re alive! I was worried you’d been crushed under the weight of all your awesome giant books. Not that that would necessarily be a bad way to go, if you were old. I hope my eventual death is awesome-book-related.
Happy New Year everyone! Usually I don’t give a rat’s ass about New Year’s Eve, but something about 2008 was just so heavy and tense that it feels really good to cast it off and start fresh. It’s like busting out of an ugly, crusty coccoon to reveal shiny fluttery wings. I guess now I understand what New Years is all about, Charlie Brown.
I don’t have any champagne, although this post probably makes me sound like I’ve been drinking it all night. I’m just high on waffles and Little Hugs juices.
Still an hour and 15 minutes to midnight in Mountain time. I love the Advent calendar and I love you, Matt! Even without any champagne.

Hooray! Happy 2009! I got off work a few minutes after the clock struck midnight.
I’m really looking forward to the conclusion of the advent calendar, Matt. I finally decided to give it a shot this year and started way back at the very first calendar. I’m finally up to date as of yesterday.
2009 marks the year I will get married!

I noticed a lot of people hating 2008 and looking forward to it being over, and I kind of feel the same way. Is there usually this much attitude of “good riddance” at New Year’s? I’ve never really noticed before.
I’m hoping 2009 will be better…I can’t complain too much, since no disasters happened to me and some good stuff happened, but the overall year was a disappointment in some ways. And that makes me sad because 8 is supposed to be my lucky number. It seems strange to me that I’m looking forward to an odd-numbered year; I’ve always preferred even numbers for some reason. I’m also a little afraid of 2009, since I’m graduating college and have no idea what the heck I’ll do next.
Well, Happy New Year to everyone, however you felt about the old one!
2009…Bring it, I have faith in you.

Been New Year’s here in Philadelphia for over an hour and a half, and I got to celebrate it the way everyone should…with shopping and fireworks! I took my stepsister and her best friend into downtown Philly for a shopping spree and came back with a new pair of sneakers (badly needed – my old ones were literally falling apart), new jeans from the gigantic Macy’s on Market Street, a Tom and Jerry calender from Borders, an Indiana Jones paperback, three records and a Garfield comic book from a used record and book store on 10th Street, and “The Chronological Donald (Duck), Vol. 4″ Walt Disney Treasures DVD set. I think the girls were happier with the brief snowstorm we encountered in the city than with any material item they bought.
Though I just spent the night chatting with a girlfriend, I did get to see some really nice fireworks over the river I live by. It was a great way to end a frustrating but not-bad year…and begin a new one full of promise.
