Jay: I’m only 22 and it seems not worth the fuss! I watched Batman: The Animated Series with my sister and brother, with a brief interlude to watch the ball drop. It was kind of anticlimactic – they kept cutting back to the tv hosts, so there were only like three really short shots of the ball itself.

I think the 2008-hate has a lot to do with various political and economic crap that is beyond the scope of an X-E discussion. Which is exactly why we’re all quick to forget it! When you can’t discuss the highlights of a year without being outside the scope of X-E, it wasn’t that great of a year.
And I know in my case, 2006 and 2007 were pretty fun years and 2008 had a tough act to follow. I didn’t necessarily have a *bad* year this year – actually it was pretty decent, especially compared to the shit some people went through – but it just felt “meh”. 2008 for me was like spending a vacation at Grandma’s house: not necessarily bad, but you spend way too much time listening to boring grownup stuff, and you keep thinking how much more fun a trip to Disney World would’ve been instead.

I’m eager to forget 2008. It was not a good year. I did get a new job, and have that to be thankful for, but that’s about it. Lost my old job, parents lost their jobs, etc, etc.
Last night my Dad started something new which he read was apparently an old tradition. He burned a twig of holly in the fire, symbolizing the burning of all the year’s hardships into ashes and dust, to be forgotten. It was pretty fun….
I’m spending all day today watching Twilight Zone and being lazy…

Well if one good thing came out of all of 2008, it’s the fact I furthered my education, and learned a skill in an in demand potentially well paying industry. And the Lord had worked in many many mysterious ways in 08. But 2009 is gonna be THE year…wooooo!!!!! CHANGE!!!

2008 was the worst year I have had in the 31 years I have been alive. It literally started off bad and continued to get worse as it went on. I’ll spare the details, but suffice to say that I’m hoping 2009 makes up for it. Heres to the New Year. So far, so good.
