My dying wish is for an owl/camel hybrid, which I call camowl.

BUMBLE CHASE.

The Advent Calendar has been updated through December 12th. Hopefully, I'll be back on schedule by the end of the weekend.

Introducing BUMBLE CHASE, a new kind of battery-operated stuff-moves-across-a-surface holiday decoration/toy thingy! Eerily similar to the Peanuts Prowling Pumpkin Patch that I reviewed last year! Did I need another such item? No!

To tell you the truth, I bought it at the start of the season as a contingency plan, not knowing if the retail world was going to provide me with enough material to slink through an entire month of blog posts. As it turns out, it did, but I've grown so fond of my BUMBLE CHASE that I'm going to review it anyway. (Behind the scenes at X-E is an incredible party.)

What it is: An icy, battery-operated base that plays music from Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, while pushing a quartet of magnet-boosted figures in a vaguely oval pattern. I'd probably come up with something catchier if I was writing its catalog description, but I'm not, so that's what it is.

The moving figures include Rudolph, Hermey, Yukon and Bumble. (Some prefer to call him "The Bumble" -- I do not.) My fascination with yetis makes Bumble my favorite character from the TV special, narrowly edging out the spotted elephant who masterfully danced on one foot while singing about how fucking miserable he was.

Though Bumble converted to heroism by the end of the special, we must assume that he's still in full-on villain mode here. It certainly helps explain why the four figures chase each other in circles for fifteen seconds whenever you hit the magic button. If Bumble isn't trying to eat them, what else could be happening? Are they playing tag? That's so not canonical.

The finale! The figures move, the music plays, and all is well. No clue how CVS gets away with charging $20 each for these sets, but since I bought one, I appear to be part of the problem. Happy SNT. Back with more later.

Funny thing about Animated…once a ‘hater’ actually watches the show or plays with one of the toys, their stance often changes. ;) ;) ;)

kingklash: Given that they’ve aired the Garfield special three times at least now (amazing!), I suspect there will be additional Miser Bros. airings.

Re: Advent — Got a little fever thing going last night, clearing the cobwebs now, trying to get everything up to date.

It’s snowing again. I may not ever be able to leave here.

All work and no play makes Bill a dull boy.
Boy dull a Bill makes play no and work all.

I’m back ya’ll. I wouldv’e stuck around alot longer last night, but there were some X-mas guests over and I had to make sleeping arrangements. I willing gave my bed up to my dad and I slept on the couch. No big deal. It cut me off from X-E because I couldn’t wake him up. My system is in my bedroom where he slept. But like I said, I didn’t mind. As for Transformers Animated, it’s a cool show. The toys are definitely great.

I love that even Mare was starting to get a teensy bit annoyed by Mista Snowman unbridled enthusiasm. lol. Great as always.

Moony-
I actually sat through that whole hour and a half priemere episode, and it was the most disappointed I’ve ever been in a TV show. The animation looks like Samurai Jack fanart, the jokes were painful, the plot lame as shit.
Optimus acts like Rodimus,Bumblebee’s best friend looked like Hey Arnold through the eyes of Hunter S. Thompson.
Even the name of the show is asinine, since there’s been 13 (off the top of my head) different animated Transformers shows allready.

Maybe they think kids will only be familiar with the movie and wonder “why isn’t Shia in this?” when they watch. It had to say “ANIMATED!!” to avoid confusion.

Mars-
Shia isn’t in the cartoon because he’s impossible to draw. The hair gets you every time. :)

I missed the Miser Brothers cuz I was busy doing family things. Hopefully they will play it again. On the plus side, it actually snowed here in New Orleans Thursday. It was awesome. I live 20 minutes outside of New Orleans and if we ever get snow here it is usually only 10 minutes of sleet that doesn’t even touch the ground. We actually had 4 hours of honest to goodness snow that stayed on the ground! We made a frickin snowman!
Unfortunately though, every year that it has snowed in December a horrible hurricane hits the following hurricane season (i.e. Betsy, Camille, Katrina) But I refuse to even worry about that right now.Or the fact that it was 75 degrees out today. We had frickin snow!!!

Teddy Ray: I watched it on DVD, courtesy of my local Blockbuster. I also ended up watching A Claymantion Christmas Celebration last night. My original plan was to wait until the family could watch with me, but I just couldn’t help myself. The ice skating walruses CALLED to me.

Raar! Me GwimWock say style worked for Teen Titans but is too fluid for mechanical characters, barring retro anime inspired designs such as Atlas!

On another note; Moony, your blog refers to you as the “mommybot.” Why?

On yet another note, how do I make bold letters?

Chestnuts roasted by GwimWock @ 12/14/2008 10:56 PM

Nicky, the only things I’ll agree with you in part is the title is lame and the designs are very Teen Titanish. But I like most of the designs, and the rest I definately have the opposite opinion that you do.

hey no Knacks and Cher? What gives? Still another great episode even thought I wanted to see the battle go down today.

I wish a nice big winter storm would hit my area. Not a dangerous one, just a normal one that would make everything extra Christmassy.

GwimWock – it has to do with my comic, and the fact that I’m old enough to have been the mother of most younger fans.
