I’m with those who don’t think there is going to be a great, big mystery this year.
However, in all of the shots of the “main living area” there is a crab hiding under the crib containing the carrots (and other stuff.)

Yeah, I can’t help but look at the advent calendar with the eye of a former advent-urer. I also noticed the crab hanging out under the crib. There are footprints leading up to it in the last entry.
Also, the directions that Santa gave them for the lego advent said something in french…I don’t remember one word of French, so I have no idea what it says.
Yeah, probably nothing, but I can’t help looking. No matter what, it’s good to have the advent calendar back…NOW it feels like Christmas.

Did any of you notice that the stuff in the spontaneous storage box was the stuff in one of the clues last year? At least … I think it was. I don’t really remember the clue that well. It was about Knacks and co. hiding from the coconut crabs I think, and all they had was a flashlight, some booze, and some other stuff?
And I’ll second loving the Christmas Vacation reference. And the baby racoon – that thing is way cuter than plastic should ever be.

Frakkyfire, are you talking about those two images from “Scary Window” that fit together? Because I was thinking the same thing…but then I checked and the scary window picture has like a walkie-talkie/TV thing, a hammer, a notebook, and a bottle of sambuca. The sambuca is the same in the new update, but then there’s some lettuce, the flashlight, a beer can, coffee mug, and a starfish.
Potential spoiler ahead. Or I’m getting worked up over nothing. Either way, I’m pretty excited. Check out the numbers on the floor. I noticed them a few days ago, but it just hit me what they are: They are living on a Playmobil AC without the boxes!
There was another one with a flashlight, too. Also, I thought I remembered doodles in a journal with a flashlight and/or sambuca, but I could be misremembering.
Rhino – That’s a good point about the numbers on the floor, after Googling a bit I think I’ve found the set they’re living on, its set reference number is 3942. The best pics I could find were on an eBay page here.
Looking at the contents, I don’t think that’s an Advent calendar that we’ve seen in any past Christmases, there’s a distinct lack of Mares.

Rhino, are you sure that is one that hasn’t been used in previous years? The owl is familiar as the “errand owl,” used in a previous calendar.

Really, I am sure of nothing. I just figured with Santa’s shady response re: the Playmobil calendar and the way Matt has sprung these things in the past, it was a likely scenario. I fully admit I could be reading into nothing, here.
Though my gut tells me that if he hadn’t wanted to do something with it he would have just used a nondescript floor surface of some sort.
Random question folks: let’s say there was a *tiny* chance of another advent calendar wallpaper ala 2007′s in the works. Any requests? Ideas? Since it’s been a little slow and no James Lipton in sight: maaaaybe a little Mista Snowman?
I think I’m at the point where others can start helping out with the wiki. I have all the dates at least entered. I typed out plot summaries up to 2005. For 2006-2008, I just did the character and gift listings, since I found that doing cast/gifts/events/plot all in one pass was too much, and I was masking mistakes. So I plan to to a second pass just for plot, with the previous items already done.

Oh hells yes, James Lipton!! I will be sorely disappointed if there are not copious remarkablouses. Wait, that looks like a type of blouse … remarkabli? Whatever, you guys know what I’m talking about.
Also, thanks for the links to the old clues, guys – the one I was referring to was that ‘Scary Window’ one, but I guess I was remembering it wrong. Also – holy shit, I bought a chandelier six months ago that looks EXACTLY like the one in the picture! WTF?
One more thing – does anyone else get a weird vibe off that Roboclown character? He seems like he might be plotting something, what with trying to convince Hssxxlllo to give up on the Arcano thing, and even trying to get him to look at the calendar. Do you think that maybe he IS allied with Arcano after all? Aso, I don’t buy Hssxxlllo saying he’s 100% done with looking for his friends – our little buddy’s up to something too.

Ann, I would love some type of icon or wallpaper for “Advent 2009,” featuring HU, Roboclown, Mista Snowman, Waiterbot, and probably James Lipton.
Onto the subject of the calendar so far:
James Lipton, will/would be a great addition and add to the quirky but fun group of side characters who are holding their own in this year’s calendar.
I will admit that at first I had misgivings about the lack of Mare, Knack, and Kuse, but now I’m really starting to enjoy this. Just about all that can be done has been done with the original characters, and I like seeing everyone’s favorite secondary characters finally getting a chance to shine.
I’m starting to wonder if the Advent calendar would be more interesting this way, just HU, Waiterbot, Mista Snowman, and probably James Lipton and no other main characters, in contrast to just core crew, Knacks, Kuse, Mare, Cher, Tigerboy, Box and Legotron?
Roboclown is doing a good job as the new and intelligent friend of HU, who are this year’s “steadies,” compared to all the other characters. Although Frakky may be onto something with the way he seems to be keen on letting HU “go on with his life,” and not try to track down the rest of the advent characters.
I’m just curious to see how they are going to write new Lego James Lipton into the story. Last year’s James Lipton doppelganger didn’t quite look like the James Lipton we have come to know and love. Will we get a new James Lipton doppelganger? James Lipton through binary fission? Or some type of reincarnated James Lipton?

Hmm … seems that we have an Uncle Milton instead of a James Lipton. Huh.
I loved the whole ‘giant guys watching over us’ thing – d’you think it was a shout out to Matt who manipulates everything or the readers who watch the Advent crew’s antics? Or both?
Also, why does angsting involve leaning???
