Whoah, first post I think. Does anyone know morse code?

And “hi” right back atcha!!

This site sure does. http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html

Maybe it’s the password.

Blowing up the jpeg. I can see some human faces and what looks like either a stuffed animal or perhaps a giant fly. They seem like three comic book panels crushed together. I say this only because there is an ilegible word balloon in the lower right panel. Too compressed to get a handle on with my limited photo enlarging capabilities. Any idea what that means kitty?

8th!  I’ve never been so early.

I have no idea what’s going on.

Ghosted by Teddy Ray @ 11/15/2008 4:56 PM EST

no idea..  i have listened to it a million times

Ghosted by trikkikitty @ 11/15/2008 5:06 PM EST

Whoah. Weird city.

Ghosted by Eddie Lightning Frog @ 11/15/2008 5:08 PM EST

What the hell is that? A face?

Ghosted by Berdo @ 11/15/2008 5:49 PM EST

So anyone want to help a lazy, morse code-impaired dude out?

Ghosted by Loneman1 @ 11/15/2008 6:05 PM EST

I don’t know a lick of morse code, so without a translation, I’m stumped.

The top third of that image up there looks like it might be fire. The middle looks like possibly some creature (sea creature, perhaps?), or giant mutant fly monster. Bottom third looks, like Pig Malien said, three heads talking in a comic book panel with a word balloon.

Or a rabbit.

Ghosted by meepy @ 11/15/2008 6:11 PM EST

Hey, I just put trikkikitty’s long code that she decivered into a Morse translation site, and it gave me this:
….—.–/ARE/-.–—U/T….I…/FINE/AFTERN——N..–..
Can anybody go back and deciver what some of those missing dots and slashes could be? I’m assuming, at first glance it’s “Hope You Are Having A Fine Afternoon”, or something along those lines.

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/15/2008 6:16 PM EST

Probably says ” How are you this fine afternoon”. Just a guess though. Good job DJ D!

Woo!  New Box 23 thread!

*sniff* But I’m sure gonna miss the old one. *sniff*

Good times. *sob*

Really good times. *sob*

DrummerJay–Yeah, I think you’re right. That actually makes a lot more sense. I share the credit with trikkikitty. she manged to type all that mess out. I just did some cutting and pasting.

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/15/2008 6:23 PM EST

From doing trikkikitty’s morse code translation, i got “hi my name is Kara. How are you this afternoon?” the name kara…doenst ring a bell. cher? or carol? i dunno. I have no idea if there is more or if i’m even right. haha :) Yah december !!!

Ghosted by Yorissa @ 11/15/2008 6:33 PM EST

Btw, just for clarification, mine was from opening the wav file in Audacity to see visual representation, and then manually checking each part to see which was a dash and a dot, which were combinations and then putting it through a translator. Yes, I missed a Y or the Y wasn’t there, but that is hi.wav

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/15/2008 6:35 PM EST

For anybody interested the morse code says “They Came, They Saw, They Conquered”

Ghosted by Jack @ 11/15/2008 6:37 PM EST

and thus solves the mystery of the last morse code clue that should ever be made.

Ghosted by Hero @ 11/15/2008 6:37 PM EST

Oops look like Guise already translated it

Ghosted by Jack @ 11/15/2008 6:38 PM EST

Jack, check the very end. I’m sure you’ll find “.WELEFT.” too.

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/15/2008 6:39 PM EST

Sorry for DP, actually mate, glad to have confirmation as it’s a real nightmare to do morse.

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/15/2008 6:40 PM EST

I missed that.  I stopped translating when I got to the Q because I assumed that was the last word.

Ghosted by Jack @ 11/15/2008 6:41 PM EST

By Q, I had hoped it was too!

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/15/2008 6:45 PM EST

Good show, Guise!

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/15/2008 6:47 PM EST

So that mores code file I opened said “hi” huh? Interesting.

Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 11/15/2008 6:54 PM EST

hmmm…the adventure unfoldssss…

Ghosted by mandy _Reeves @ 11/15/2008 7:17 PM EST

…like a towel of intrigue on the clothes airer of understanding, Mandy.

I have it decifered. It says, “Congratulations, you just wasted hours of your life deciphering a meaningless message”.

this is great! I was fearing last year’s wonder was not to return this year. I’m up for a new crazy, crazy ride :)

Ghosted by melonian @ 11/15/2008 7:37 PM EST

If this was a Batman comic in the 50’s everyone would have figured that out in about 30 seconds.

Ghosted by PhelpsPhan @ 11/15/2008 7:38 PM EST

Well, before I crash and seeing as how it’s not linked here yet, the updated pages from Box 23 (2008) and some bits on the Scary Window thing from earlier in the year.

And lo, the obsession began anew… Ok, re: hi.jpg bottom pic: from a pic of clowns *shudder* source pic here: http://www.frontrowking.com/family/ararat_shrine_circus_tickets.html center pic: agreed on the macro of a flys head/eye top pic: ditto on the fire/flames. So: fire, fly and clowns. Interesting.

Ghosted by Ann @ 11/15/2008 8:26 PM EST

Ann–That’s it! How the hell’d you figure that one out?

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/15/2008 8:58 PM EST

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I am so excited!!

Ghosted by Nizz @ 11/15/2008 9:48 PM EST

I can see some human faces and what looks like either a stuffed animal or perhaps a giant fly.

I had to read this like three times before I stopped thinking it said “human feces”. For a second I was impressed that you could identify poop by species so easily.

I plan to pay more attention to the Adventuring this year, but I suck at this stuff, I’m afraid :(

Ghosted by jazzy @ 11/15/2008 10:33 PM EST

Let’s see, we’ve got the nautical/sea monster theme going…a haunted house is involved (could be tied to some of the folks ending up in Hell last year), and now we’ve definitely got circus themed stuff going on too (first alluded to by “barnum”, and now verfied by this clown business). Throw in apparently something to do with fire, and possibly a giant fly (or rabbit, if you believe meepy), and this is shaping up to be really interesting.

Welcome to the discussion, jazzy. I wasn’t able to keep up with the discussion last year because of my computer and internet connection and just abandoned it pretty early on, but I’m all up in it this year. You’re getting in on the ground floor this year, so it shouldn’t be too hard. You just gotta keep a keen eye out and it helps to be somewhat paranoid and obsessive. Guise and some of the others have put together some really great guides and things if you want to catch up.

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/15/2008 10:57 PM EST

DJ_D let’s just say HU’s Big Apple Circus vid brought up some repressed memories of my 1st grad teacher, Sr. Luke, dressing up as a clown for school events.

Hooray for all the Advent-urers new and old! We’re back, baby!

Ghosted by Ann @ 11/16/2008 12:14 AM EST

i’m so stoked for this years advent…. i’m thinking a fire breathing lion.

Ghosted by Andrew @ 11/16/2008 1:16 AM EST

Whoo, new thread!

Ghosted by Hazard @ 11/16/2008 1:20 AM EST

Maybe a zombie rabbit will show up in this years Advent Calander. You never know.

Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 11/16/2008 1:25 AM EST

“It’s Alive! It’s Huge!” … I hope this as much fun as the MONTHS I spent with all the Cloverfield stuff. After blowing up that photo… I see part of a lions head. Could it be a clue? Or is Matt just paying homage back to the early Cloverfield stuff when the debate over the first line I posted was going strong (originally some thought it was “It’s a lion! It’s huge!”)

Whatever the image(s) are… there are clearly 3 of them. The top one looks to be some sort of fire, the middle is the one where I see a lion… the bottom. Looks like the top of someones head. But I’m not quite sure.

Either way… this is clearly what Christmas is about

Ghosted by Grindhouse @ 11/16/2008 1:45 AM EST

Ann, I’d like to suggest the following as source pic for fire. http://climateprogress.org/2008/03/10/vatican-pollution-is-a-deadly-sin/

Primarily, look towards the bottom middle of the picture and you should see where there is a brown gap between the flames that matches the brown gap in red-orange.

All the pictures so far appear not to be shrunk, but stretched from proportion.

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/16/2008 2:13 AM EST

Guise–You might be on to something with that one. Although how you managed to find it is beyond me.

I think that bottom one is pretty much the same as it is in the original source though. I don’t think it’s been stretched. If you compare it with the on that Ann posted up earlier, it looks like it was just taken right out.

Although how Ann found that one is also beyond me. Now my paranoia’s kicking in again. Starting to think mabye the two of you are in kahoots with some internal source. You understand this is exactly what HU wants. He wants us all pointing fingers at each other. I’m starting to feel like Kurt Russell in John Carpenter’s The Thing. Don’t make me line you guys up and start taking blood tests.

Ghosted by DJ D @ 11/16/2008 2:28 AM EST

Deej, if you check out pixelation, you’ll see the hair is much fuzzier where it’s been stretched, if you shrink it by width you can actually match it up. Same for fire (which I google image searched “hell” by the way). The middle image becomes interesting that way too.

Ghosted by Guise @ 11/16/2008 2:39 AM EST

Im so excited about this years Avent calender its been a good tridition……I been readin X-E since 2002 and this year imma get involved in the mystery HAHAH cant wait…..

My Input: do yall think that picture in th middle looks like a dog next to the fly eye looking thing and i know that at the bottom thats a clown face!!!
