I’m going to go for probably the most effective deaths emotionally – Maddy Ferguson in Twin Peaks (Laura’s identical cousin), and the woman motorist in Wild At Heart.
Maddy’s death combined with the giant telling Cooper ‘I’m so sorry’ at the roadhouse was just brutal – A real sense of the heroes’ failure to prevent Bob from killing again. Whilst the road accident scene in Wild at Heart was just brutal in it’s realism.
Depressing tho…
And to the people saying Dr. Romano on E.R. had a helicopter fall on him…. I don’t recall that. I know he got his arm cut off by a rotor on a helicopter. He lived though.

Hey this is pretty important. Especially for Manimal, KB, and anyone else who has young children. Don’t buy the DOMO chocolate or any other chocolate packaged exclusively at Target. Apparently there maybe a chance of tainted chemicals in it that can be hazardous to young children. A friend emailed this to me:
oh…wait…now that I looked on wiki…yes I DO remember Dr. Romano getting nailed by that helicopter!!!!! I think I cheered too!

Slumber Party Massacare II – driller killer dance & kill scene.

Hats off to the posters who picked Suspiria and Maddy’s death from Twin Peaks. Nobody ever picks those. Agonizingly scary scenes.
I wanted to mention Sarah’s murder in Inferno, but I didn’t think anyone would know what I was talking about.

Hands down, my favorite onscreen death is from Friday the 13th Part 2 where Jason impales the guy in the wheelchair, Mark, in the face with a machete, and then Mark’s wheelchair falls back the longest flight of stairs in the history of movie cinema.

Maddy Ferguson in Twin Peaks –good call. yes, yes, yes. for television, that was brutal. esp for almost 20 years ago. i havent gotten that far with my gold edition yet, but i can still remember it from the only time i ever saw it. it was horrifying.
for movies, one of my most memorable was the end of the devil’s rejects when they all rushed the roadblock and got shot to freebird.
Any death that occure in “Pinata island”(ive never seen the movie, because as pathetic as I am, I like to think im above “pinata island”
And any death of a main character from DBZ, which are usually well done(yea, im a nerd, my apologies)

Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea was a classic…man, NO ONE expected that!
Interestingly, Paul McCrane has made it to this thread for two different deaths, as Dr. Romano in ER, and Emil in Robocop (the toxic waste guy). Poor Dr. Romano….the helicopter took his arm, then came back to finish him later.
Speaking of Final Destination III, the guy whose head gets splatted by the weight machine was pretty good, too.

Another brutal death was Trip Larsen in King of the Hill – completely unexpected and pretty nasty. But it is followed by a great quote:
Luanne: At least Trip seemed happy, and now he’s in a better place. Peggy: Honey, Trip had a mental breakdown and is now a sausage. That’s not a better place.

So, I’ve seen people throwing out some suggestions for articles and whatnot. Personally, matt, I say you just take a vacation. The articles where you go on a vacation are some of my favorites to read. They take a backseat only to trips/articles bout wildwood or atlantic city, since ive been to both and can really understand where your coming from.

Disturbing: Philip from A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors, when Freddy rips up his tendons and controls him like a puppet. Still gives me the willies. Also Seargent Howie in the original Wickerman. It creeps me out how those people are calmly swaying and singing as he’s burning alive behind them.
Sad/Emotional: Bjork in Dancer in the Dark. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much during a movie. I didn’t just cry, I fucking BAWLED. Also I was very upset by the death of Maes Hughes in Fullmetal Alchemist, as he was one of my favorite characters.
Just Downright Funny: Blackwolf in Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards. You expect there to be this dramatic wizard duel at the end, but Avatar just shoots his punk-ass.

The deaths of the terrorists at the hands of the Minotaur in South Park’s Imaginationland Part 2. Serves them right for trying to
destroy our imagination. I personally would have chosen a more
horrible death. Like the zombies from Day of The Dead tearing
their heads off as they scream for mercy. If anyone tries to attack
my imagination, they’ll find horrors that would make Freddy
Kreuger shit in his pants out of fear if he ever saw them. The
Holographic Nazi meeting his end at the hands of holographic
Klingons in that Star Trek Voyager episode.

I always liked the death scene in…Oh hell I think I forgot the name of the movie, Ghost Ship. Little girl dancing with the captain on deck with a bunch of others. Steel cable breaks and whips across the deck killing everyone but the little girl, she wasn’t tall enough. Everyone else falls over in pieces.

Wenthral: Oh, I forgot about that! That was a great scene! I don’t remember the rest of that movie, though…
Also, whomever mentioned Maude Flanders and Groundskeeper Willie, kudos to you. Those deaths were far better than Bleeding Gums, however just as classic! I can’t believe I forgot about those…
I’m gonna go kick myself now…

Okay, everyone, seriously. An entire thread and no mention of any Nightmare on Elm Street film, or any of the fantastic deaths, but namely Johnny Depp’s death scene where the entire room was rotated and his blood just gushed like a fountainhead from his bed. No more listening to vinyl and watching a ten inch tv for you, young pirate. And sadly, no love for Freddy here either, but I am appreciative of the Clue mention. Singing Telegram Girl deserves as much recognition as anyone else.
But because I am a true queer for series related crap, I would name my favorite deaths as John Ritter in Bride of Chucky, or either Dewey’s fakeout death scene in Scream 2, or Randy’s real moment of biting it in said film. As said, queer I am. The Frighteners gets an honorable mention for having a serial killer and his moll devoured by gigantic worms from hell, as well.
Flush it all away: Funny, almost everyone shares your opinion. But oddly enough I know some folks who like it, myself included (granted, it’s the only Bakshi film I truly enjoyed).
