Happy SNT everybody- I’m at work, watching MIRRORS for about the 15th time… the first two or three times, it was definitely Halloween-y… but now it’s just annoying. They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to… speaking of which- who else knew the movie “The Horror Show” (Lance Henriksen, Brion James) was originally one of the “House” series? I wish they’d put it out on DVD already… I’ve always felt it was way better than “Shocker”… (sorry Mr. Craven…)
****(SPOILER ALERT- There is NOBODY that Jack Bauer won’t point a gun at- I Love that guy!)***
All of the deaths in Suicide Club. Especially when they jump off of the school’s roof.

…Sorry, had to get that out- As for the topic; James Caan called my girlfriend a name I won’t repeat (in print) once- so I’m gonna go with Sonny Corleone at the Toll Booth…
it wasn’t really a death, but, the scene in The Toxic Avenger where he’s fighting dudes in a fast food joint.. – he tosses one of them over the counter, homeboy soars into the overhead menu.. – just a great, brutal stunt..
Ohhh god in Pet Sematary, when Jud is looking for Gage, and he’s kneeling down by the bed. Gage’s hand sticks out from under the bad and slashed Jud’s achilles tendon. Ughhhhhh. Creeps me out. To this day I think about that almost every time I stand by a bed.
In Maniac, when Joe Spinell jumps on the hood of Tom Savini’s car and shoots him through the windshield with a shotgun and his head eggsplodes. Check it- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1kzUd0AXiI

I think it was 13 Ghosts, where that guy is split in half by a glass door. That was awsome.

Hmm. Lynda’s surprise phone cord strangulation in Halloween. Nurse Jill’s shank-and-lift (plus the accompanying clog drop!) from Halloween II.
I’m sure there’s more…

Bonnie and Clyde….the end where they get made into swiss cheese!
Also any of the deaths in Happy Birthday To Me. <—awesome film! I think I posted about it last year or the year before. Mary from Little House on The Prairie, plays this girl who has a bad car wreck and loses her memory, and all her friends keep dying these really gruesome deaths…shishkabob skewer in the mouth out the back of head, crushed to death by bar bells..etc.

Humerous: Every death from “Killer Klowns from Outer Space.”
Emotional: Futurama “Jurassic Bark”
Gory: Zombies vs. Lawnmower from “Dead Alive.”

Hey Eddie, Excellent Savini plug! (no pun)- One of the coolest things about that for me, is that he shoots himself in that scene… I’d also like to throw out a vote for the suicide montage in “Psychomania”… ahh, Vintage Death…
Quint being eaten alive by Jaws. (Blood spurting out of the mouth really disturbed me as a kid.)
The guy that killed himself by scissors through the mouth in The Dead Zone.
The Marine that was trapped in the chemical weapon storage depot when a weapon went off in The Rock. (yuck)
The drunk college kid that had the top of is head sawed off in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fG15TJZE04
The bad guy that inflates himself to death in Big Trouble in Little China
Old Yeller.
…and many more.
Off the top of my head, the part in Batman Returns where the strongman tells Batman to hit him, and he does, and the strongman laughs it off until he realizes Batman put the keg of dynamite in his belt. Batman throws him into a open trench, and KA-BOOM!
Also, all the villain deaths in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I liked it in Street Fighter when they showed the x-ray view of the skull crush. I also liked when the line snapped at the beginning of Ghost Ship and sliced everyone in half.

Every single death in Peter Jackson’s Bad Taste. If you’ve never seen it, you should.

Woo! Happy Saturday Night Thread! I am feeling it tonight, how about you guys?
I hope it’s not, Bill, since I’ve got a whole bunch…Good calls on Quint and BTiLC.
Spoiler City here obviously…Invader mentioned this in his recent Greatest Villians Countdown: Judge Doom in Roger Rabbit alternately fascinated and horrified me as a kid, and even now.
In Sin City, when Marv takes his revenge on Kevin, cutting him into pieces and feeding it to his own pet wolf, but Kevin never screams once…cute little Elijah Wood has never looked the same!
All the press for W. and (finally) seeing Iron Man reminded me how much I loved Robert Downey Jr. in Natural Born Killers and how crazy his death scene is. He really steals that movie.
Marvin in Pulp Fiction getting his head accidentally blown off all over the backseat. And speaking of cars, the big crash scene in Death Proof, particularly the parts where one leg meets the road and one face meets a tire. And Naveen Andrews getting his head split into pieces in Planet Terror is hysterical, but the part where Dr. Block’s son blows his face off immediately after she warns him not to play with the gun has to rank even higher.
If I may add a worst, I really hated the way the killed off Norrington in the last Pirates movie. It’s one thing for them to kill off my almost-favorite character, but they didn’t have to send him out like a total punk. At least they could have made it exciting :-/
I don’t mean to double-post but I just recalled Stephen Taylor’s death in A Perfect Murder was awesome and unexpected.

Budd Dwyer, run a google video search on him.

Stringer Bell’s death at the end of the third season of The Wire comes to mind, but I just watched it so that may have somthing to do with it. My favorite ever? That would take more thought then I’m willing to invest right now…

Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea, or the gremlin in the paper shredder
Ghosted by batfink @ 10/18/2008 8:48 PM EDT
Personally I like the Gremlin in the juicer. Stay Puft’s death is good. Not that I wanted him to die. From Sin City, I prefer The Yellow Ba*tard’s death. “I took away his weapons. Both of them.”

How about the deaths in Clue? Especially the Singing Telegram.
Pee Wee Herman in Buffy The Vampire Slayer (The Movie) Classic!

Oh, I know another good one: Scatman Carruthers in The Shining. He comes all the way up from Florida and makes all this effort to get to the hotel. Then the minute he walks in, Jack wacks him with the axe.

the dad in the Hills Have Eyes remake looked like a pretty painful one, and not just for him.
Ok. My last one. I think the “chest burster” scene in Aliens may take the cake.

One of my favorites is when Matrix throws that pipe right into that pcycho Australian in Commando, and steam comes out of the
pipe. “Let off some steam Bennett.”

Do TV shows count? Because nothing beats Phil Leotardo’s head under a tire on “The Sopranos”. That was the best part of the whole series.

Mystie, the hubby and I were discussing that very movie only moments ago!

is it gross point blank? or is that “POP CORN!!”?
Ghosted by batfink @ 10/18/2008 9:34 PM EDT
Most emotional death scene ever, and the only one where I went “WHAT? NOOOO!” out loud in a theater: Wash in Serenity. Being a Browncoat, that one killed me.
Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 10/18/2008 9:34 PM EDT
Anniemagus, I should have added tv show death scenes too when I pitched the idea to Matt last night. If it’s alright with him, then yes,
tv shows count now.

Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea.
Come on, that was fuckin’ awesome.
Ghosted by Molly @ 10/18/2008 9:39 PM EDT
I’d have to go with Danny DeVito’s death in Johnny Dangerously.
