RailPirate: Sorry, but I think they’re only known to exist in 80s Teenage Horror Flicks.  I have never personally seen one in a Simpsons Halloween, or any Simpsons episode for that matter.  That is, unless you count seeing Homer from the back in his underwear but I don’t count that.
I couldn’t get through Halloween 3 for some reason.  I kept falling asleep, and obviously without Michael Meyers it’s not a real Halloween movie.  Oh well, at least I didn’t fall asleep with that annoying jingle in my head, “Eight More Days Till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween….”  Shamrock Silver?  That sounds like a place for St. Patrick’s Day, NOT Halloween!

you are correct i will now add the mist perhaps even the fog.  I should also round out the carpenter movies with the best of all the thing

Hope: Never interviewed Freddy — but we were in close proximity of him during that horror convention I wrote about years ago.

BJ: Halloween III is much more of a lazy Sunday morning movie than a late Saturday night movie.  It was an interesting film once you get past the fact that it has nothing to do with the franchise.  (If you didn’t know, they wanted to create an anthology out of Halloween, with weird-but-unrelated horror movies coming out every year under that banner…it didn’t pan out.)

Ghosted by Matt @ 10/12/2008 11:08 AM EDT

Hope If you look up the article from a few years back when Matt went to the Horror Convention he met Robert Englund.  And bought him a drink at the bar I believe?  Robert about a month or so ago was on loveline and that was quite enjoyable.  He sounded just like a regular guy with a really cool gig to me, nothing special but that is what made it so neat.  A guy you would meet at the grocery store or something.

Rev. I didn’t know you were so in the dark about the Advent Calendar.  For that I am sorry.  I would suggest not touching the archives of the Advent Calendar until after Halloween.  Because it is Christmasy and it might be too fast of a transition between holidays for you. (can you tell I am talking to you like a therapist? LOL) I think that you will relate to Waiterbot the most because he likes to play on words like you do.  And is freaky and evil in a bizarre way.

Waiterbot out of the characters (in an ongoing story that Matt writes a little bit of daily throughout December) is an asshole.  They have to live with him but they really don’t like that they do.  They live in a big (to them) playmobil house together.  Them?  Knacks that is a lego figure, Mare that is playmobil, a new Character Cher that is playmobil figure, they all have their own roles, which isn’t all of them.  The Advent calendar isn’t something you can just explain.  If you want a better explanation onto who Waiterbot is in a quick amount of time, then it’s best to watch one of his vlogs.  Matt just started doing them last year.

This is my favorite one.  Backstory, the first one someone said in the comments section they always thought his voice would sound like Robert Goule.

Matt, you should really do another vlog before Christmas.  This are very cool.

Goat Royale It’s always a bummer when you rent a movie and it doesn’t play right.  If you don’t care about society and all here is a link to Forgetting Sarah Marshall to watch it streamed online or download or both (which most sites are like that) I feel most modern comedies are a waste of time but to each it’s own.

Heck here is the link now…

http://www.megavideo.com/?v=I9ZHQ9UZ

Click on the play button in the middle.  If you click on the bottom one then it will go to an ad site.  Also to go full screen click on the bottom far right button on the player.  Not the best quality but it works.  It’s a bit compressed.

The best quality is to go on a downloading site (ent3rnal.blogspot.com for example, which I check daily) I suggest bitroad out of their lists below each movie.  Also Flyupload after you click the page at the bottom 10 times and then through the pop up ads it only takes about 2 hours to upload.  There are a couple others that they upload the movie on that I can’t remember which ones they are.  Some take like 5 hours some take less then 2.  So you just watch the movie and then if you have a small hard drive delete it right afterwards.  I have a 500GB external hard drive that I have a small collection of movies on.  I hope I helped.

Has anyone actually watched Midnight Meat Train yet? Is is worth checking out? Or the other one… the one with Robert Englund that I can’t remember the name of that is also made for FearNet?
Looks like once I get home, I’m spending some serious time on the couch with some sort of vaguely headcold-like fun. :\ So I will be wearing out my OnDemand.

So…..spending the day getting caught up on the movies of 2008.   I think I’ve seen most of what I wanted to see.  I have to find Quarantine on a streaming site.  Also…I’m still debating about Bev Hills Chiuahah.  I’m going to see W. on the weekend of the 17th.  And If I had some cash today, I would have went to see Nick and Norah’s infinite playlist.  Although I do frequent the streming sites with bootlegs of current theater films…I contribute heavily to the theater industry also.  In fact, I went every sunday til the economic stuff hit the fan.

I had a fairly decent sized post going, then clicked on a link and lost it all.  I’ll probably forget something, but in a nutshell:

Amy, I’m an invalid, too.  Invalids unite!  crazy_mainer, watch The Frighteners.  Rev., I’m ignorant of the Advent Calendar, too.  BJ, I saw that Halloween Candy episode the other morning…pretty creepy indeed.
As a final note, I want to know about the Saw movies.  I caught the first one and rather enjoyed it…not too gory.  How does the rest of the series compare, gore wise?

Ghosted by Teddy Ray @ 10/12/2008 1:54 PM EDT

Teddy Ray:  I found the episode recorded on my DVR.  I think that will be the next episode I watch later today after I get my fix of NFL football.

On november 1st, I will study the advent calendar.

Until that day, I will radiate superhate whenever anyone says anything that I don’t understand.

Today I am cooking dago feast.  There was a parade through my neighborhood and I’m feeling the spirit.  There are so many beasts simmering away in my cauldron I am feeling like a real big boss of this area.

mandy, I read Nick and Norah, and it was awesome. I can’t wait to see the movie.

To all of you doing the plasma horror movie viewing.. try this: 80 inch projector screen. Nightmare on Elm Street looks SO good on it..

I recommend The Lost Boys to watch on Halloween. I know it’s not the scariest movie. The music is great though.  The Mexicans make great
horror movies. I recommend to horror fans to see some of them.

@ crazy_mainer,
yeah I’m a day late but if you read this you should rent the movie “House” from 1986 for your party. Not gory as far as I remember and very fun. I’m pretty sure Matt has talked about it on here before.

Awwww Phil G I’m sorry.  Did something happen?

Teddy Ray This is my opinion about the Saw movies.  I loved the first one in fact I have a copy of it.  I told my best friend when the second one was in the theater I said I really want to see that movie but I want to see the first one first.  He bought for like 15 dollars a used copy at a pawn shop here in town.

I really like that one.  It’s interesting.  I am not a fanatic but I think that the directors that worked on the first one didn’t work on the rest of the series.  This is the problem I have with the rest of them.  It’s like they think that one is scary, so like a dozen would be way scarier.  So you have people running around, trying to figure out how to solve puzzles and I think it dilutes the movie.  It makes it less scary and it kind of makes you angry at the people that made the movie.

But I think the two guys in a room thing wouldn’t of been good for another 4 movies.  That is just what I think.  I actually suggested the first saw movie to a friend of mine on Thursday and he said he was going to look it up on the DVR.  He really isn’t that much into horror movies but on occasion it’s good.  I got him to watch Dead Alive this year for the first time!  He loved it!  But I think he is concerned about me now though lol because I told him I first saw that movie when I was like 11 years old.

Rev. I’m sorry your so pissed off at the whole advent calendar thing.  I think you can figure out most of the things just by reading last years.  Last year there was a story twist and Matt the sadistic creature made us try to guess what the twist was until the last two days.  I have to admit I skipped over it for years because I just didn’t think I would like it but then I read it last year.  It’s easier to follow our comments when you know what the hell people are talking about on a day to day basis.  In the story, they refer to the previous years but they do a brief explanation while they are talking.  I figured it out, I think your smart enough to do that too :)

I missed SNT last night because I was busy standing on a porch at a party talking about The Exorcist for like 20 minutes. Tonight I’ll be watching Poltergeist to further get myself in the Halloween spirit.

I can’t see the creepy short lady without thinking of her as the organist in 16 Candles. “Heeeeere comes the bride…”

Ghosted by Cheetara @ 10/12/2008 9:13 PM EDT

ah, nothing happened Goob, just not getting into it. Have bronchitis, am broke and just can’t seem to get into the spirit. Watching Halloween II on Space (Canada) so maybe that will cheer/spook me up.

Ghosted by Phil G @ 10/12/2008 9:21 PM EDT

Cheetara I keep on trying to remember to watch the Poltergeist!  Maybe I should watch it tonight now that I am thinking about it.

Phil G Awww yeah I have never had that but I could imagine it sucking the life out of you.  I haven’t really spent much money this year so far.  Just got some apple cider mix.  And a few weeks ago I got a bag of caramel apple candy corn that was gone in like two days but it was so good.  Just trying to watch as many scary movies as I can along with kids halloween specials and I watched the Nightmare before Christmas.  Listening to the Halloween Jukebox daily or almost daily.

I want to make Caramel apples this year for the first time ever in my life.  I am good at cooking so I don’t think it will be that much of a disaster.  I have a tradition I started last year I watch a movie or two that people have said to me is a classic horror movie that I have never seen.  That is a lot of them because there are a lot of adult oriented movies I haven’t seen yet that came out when I was a kid or before I was born.  Like earlier this year I watched Clockwork Orange and Soylent Green.

Bill, the regular that posts here, is supposed to plan on coming to visit me at the end of this month.  We will see!!  I think the dude thinks I am narotic.  Him and I are like Larry and Balki on Perfect Strangers.  I am like Larry.  But life my friends doesn’t have a laugh track.

Ghosted by Goob @ 10/12/2008 9:35 PM EDT

Anyone seen Jack Brooks Monster Slayer? It just came out on DVD and is awesome. I felt like a kid watching it. One of the most fun movies I’ve seen in a while. The X-E crowd will love it.

I’ve just finished watching the “Halloween Candy” Tales From the Darkside episode, and while some may find it to be disturbing, it didn’t affect me at all.  I thought it was better than of the other episodes I have seen, but I didn’t find myself hiding underneath the blankets when it was over.  Actually, I had another Halloween episode recorded, “Trick or Treat” which I found out was the pilot episode for the series.  I found this one better than “Halloween Candy” but still not convincing enough to scare me half to death.  I always thought pilot episodes were to set the tone of the series.  All I can say is they may have went all out on the first episode, but the series as a whole is a vast departure and falls far short of these standards.  I think I may need to watch the movie next, after re-reading Matt’s review of it again to get me in that mood.

I heard something about lemon creme hershey kisses today. Some chocolate lovers blog reviewed em.  Supposed to be pretty good.

I usually do not like Subway subs.  Spoiled by all the sub shops here in NJ.
BUT I had the new 5 dollar foot long, chicken pizziola sub.  Its chicken and pepperoni with marinara and mozzarella then its toasted…and I added mayo red onion and black olives.  sooooo awesome.  You end up with enough for two meals

Trippy dude…

On youtube I just got done watching the Good Son with Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood that movie chills you to the bone.  Any movie where a little kid is evil does it seems.  Great movie for this time of year.

What’s all this then? Are people starting to discuss the coming Advent Calendar? Is it that time of year again…? :D

Ghosted by Ben @ 10/13/2008 2:26 AM EDT

No Ben, we have a couple of newbies that haven’t experienced it before.  We were trying to explain the goodness of what is the Advent Calendar.  It’s hard to explain really.  Unfortunately I think the more we talk about it the more pissed off they are because they can’t participate in the conversation.

Ghosted by Goob @ 10/13/2008 2:28 AM EDT

JUST got back in from the Old 97s in Newport! A-maze-ing!

Am quite pissed off they’ve already removed the first “Nightmare” from my OnDemand tho. *pout* So I’m having my last mojitos of the year and looking to see what else they’re offering — I’m off work the next two days and will be left more or less on my own, so I’ll get to watch whatever I want!

Advent calendar talk is simply exciting for me, not a cause for irritation. If there’s anything I love more than Halloween, it’s Christmas!

So, Goob, is that a “no” on Saw 2-4?  Oh, and by the way, if you like The Good Son, you should totally check out The Bad Seed, from 1956.  Brrr, creepy ass little girl…
Fox, I added Jack Brooks to my Netflix the other day.  Sounds like I made a good choice.

Ghosted by Teddy Ray @ 10/13/2008 2:35 PM EDT

I ended up watching Roman Polanski’s “Repulsion” last night. Not really a horror movie, per se, but definitely creepy and chilling. It’s a bit slow-paced though, so make sure you’re really awake if you decide to take it on.  It’s pretty “artsy,” I guess, with not much explained, so if that’s not your bag…

Dunno what I’ll watch tonight.

Ghosted by Reni @ 10/13/2008 2:52 PM EDT

Teddy: I liked both “Saw 2″ and “Saw 3,” but they weren’t as good as the first one, IMO. Haven’t seen “4″ yet. I think if you go into them knowing they’re not gonna reinvent the wheel, (and that they’re quite a bit grosser) you’d still like them.

Ghosted by Reni @ 10/13/2008 2:54 PM EDT

i loved all the saw movies except the most recent one. i know you can only stretch the premise so far, but that one was far less interesting. i ended up not even caring what happened, which bummed me out.
