09/20/2008: Halloween Countdown ‘08: Scary Art Contest!
Welcome to the first Saturday Night Thread of the 2008 Halloween season! EXCITING. While normal SNTs usually exist without any set theme, Halloween is a special time of year…so if you plan to converse, think deadly!
One of my favorite things about the spooky season is the increased amount of horror movies on television, and though we’re still a few weeks away from that effect really sinking in, there are a few choice films airing this evening. Pick your poison!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III — 11:35 PM on Cinemax More Max The Craft – 11 PM on HBO Signature Trilogy of Terror 2 — 1 AM on Sci-Fi
Note that all of the times listed are EST, so adjust accordingly depending on where you live. Much as I love TCM III, I think I’m going to go with The Craft leading into Trilogy of Terror 2, assuming I don’t pass out before one or both movies airs. (It’s looking to be a martini night.)
If you’re looking for a Halloween activity a bit more spirited than watching scary movies on cable television, maybe this X-E Art Contest will help you out?
Your Mission: Create a work of art featuring Jason Voorhees dancing. That is your only rule. You can draw it, build it in Photoshop, make it out of macaroni pieces — whatever you like. It just has to feature Jason Voorhees DANCING.
(UPDATE: The deadline has passed! Thanks!) You have until Sunday at 12 noon EST to complete your piece. When finished, e-mail your opus to me, and I’ll highlight the very best entries in tomorrow’s post. Actually, if only ten of you enter, I’ll highlight all of them, no matter how horrible the entries are. We’ll see how this goes.
Need more incentive? I will objectively choose a grand prize winner, and that person will receive five packages of ancient Ghoul-Aid, the spookiest Kool-Aid flavor ever! I must add a disclaimer that the Ghoul-Aid is being offered for collectible purposes only, but I’m fairly certain that it’s still safe to drink.
Five runners-up will receive single packs of Ghoul-Aid, so even those of you who aren’t modern day Da Vincis have more than a fair shot at getting free Kool-Aid.
Remember, all entries must be received by noon EST Sunday!
If you’re not interested in watching the proposed horror movies or drawing Jason Voorhees dancing, you’re still welcome to partake in the usual SNT festivities. Enjoy!
Mhm, a contest. I’ll have to give it a try. I wonder what kind of dancing Jason prefers …
I’ll watch The Faculty later this evening, I really love that movie.

Fuck yeah! Happy SNT, peeps.
I’m in for The Craft. I found parts 2-10 on YouTube so I shall try to follow along despite my West Coast ways. I do pay for HBO so I don’t feel so bad, it’s not my fault they don’t give me an East Coast feed of Signature.
I’m definitely in for the art contest, too. Speaking of Jason, I finally uploaded pics of the awesome toys I saw at Comic-Con but I haven’t blogged ‘em yet. Ooh, next up to upload is the Cloverfield figure. Did anybody ever buy that thing? It’s gorge, I want it.
So I have been watching a lot of Freddy’s Nightmares on the Chiller channel and I noticed that it is set on Springfield Street or something like that. Could they only get the rights for Freddy and not Elm Street?
I’m sitting here trying to write a letter thanking people for coming to a hearse show we’re putting on in two weeks and I’ve never had worse writer’s block in my life!! How does everyone else get over it?!
Special K
I usually sleep on it or drive around town for a while…

Cameron: Hrm. I don’t have that luxury right now as this was due three days ago. haha I think I have it finished, though. I even got a nice little joke in that will make the hearse owners giggle, so I’m feeling more confident about it.
I rented Sweeney Todd tonight. That ought to get me in a Halloweeny mood. My only exposure to the musical is the bit from “Jersey Girl” that uses it. Should be interesting.

Drew: Funny, I was actually researching various scary-themed Transformers earlier, but I forgot that one.
Mezzanine: I have a bit left, mainly Pitch Black II.
Downloading the dubbed double ep of the May/Dawn arc.
Life is good.

So glad the fall weather is starting. I celebrated by going apple picking. The bf got eaten by bugs, so I made it up to him by stopping at this random cemetery we passed with a sign on it that said “labyrinth.” Only the labyrinth was just a brick pattern in the back, not like a real labyrinth. Total disappointment. Then we went to the Halloween store and THEN I drove him way up on this giant mountain in Reading where they have the random Japanese Pagoda and you can see for miles. Then we went back down and got sushi!
I’d love to join in on the fun tonight, but my sister’s over and I wanna spend time with her and my parents. Also, we might actually go out to the movie theatre if we feel like it later.
Also, I really wish I had any artistic abilities whatsoever, because this art contest sounds kick-ass. Oh well, I’m super excited to see the winners tomorrow!

Rev: I can do a pretty good Elvis impression.
Matt: Hope ya like the entry.
If any ya’ll are bored, maybe we can play some Brawl later.
I went to my local Halloween Spirit store today and picked up 1) my very own Guy Fawkes mask and 2) a Freddy Krueger cling decoration for my front door. There has been a noticeable chill in the air, and I’m working on my first Strongbow of the night.
Man, I really wish I could really start shopping for Halloween. So far I’ve only been able to find some odds and ends as the stores here don’t have their displays up yet. I’ve already decorated everything here, though.

Happy SNT! I’m pretty stoked for Texas Chainsaw 3- The Craft? Is it really a good horror movie? Never saw it. Trilogy of Terror 2 should be good though!
elvis impersonators TURN ME ON. I need to get to vegas so I can meet a few and drink gin with them.
So many things to do before I die. Dance with Jason Voorhees, drink gin with an elvis impersonator, and kiss Ian Anderson with tongue. Time’s running out.
I just sent my entry, but forgot to sign it! Oh, well, my gmail account is fairly similar to the nickname I use here… I’m sure Matt will figure it out…

Anyone looking to upload images, just google search “image host” and you’ll find tons. Though usually the first few are the most reputable and best.
I am thinking of drawing one but my drawing sucks. Though after seeing Matts’ drawing, I feel better about my own.

Man, I want to do this, I have to create 4 Excel documents by midnight for class and email them instead. Urg. Well, I will turn on the jukebox while doing homework anyhow and feel somewhat seasonal.
OH P.S. Martha’s Halloween edition is out! Happy!
Any y’all tried that new Spore game? I downloaded the trial version a couple nights ago, and I gotts to say, i’m HOOKED!!! I’m havin a BLAST with this thing! It’s convinced me to get the full game. Also I wanted to make sure the full game would run on my system, so I downloaded the trial first. I’m happy to report that it runs PERFECTLY. There’s an occasional hickup here and there. but that’s normal.

I’m excited for Lego Batman, but I’m just kinda lame like that.
Hmm, if I get the hankering maybe I will enter. As it is, I’m exhausted from spending the day at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Recovering from the dorkiness of myself and others takes a lot out of me.
I too am psyched for Mega Man 9! I am Mega Man! I’m blue and Cyan!

Joker: No, just that one, I think. The first one takes place in modern-day America and I’m fairly sure the second one does, too. They’re all about werewolves, though.
Hehe, cool. Love the lego keychains.

Uh, I’m just hanging around tonight. I’m not that fond of horror and have no real drawing skills (and no scanner). I’ll probably chat with friends and hang out online until I fall off my computer chair asleep.
Mystie me too…regarding Lego Batman. I get it for free on the DS with my flash cart.
I highly reccomend Rhapsody A musical adventure as well. Thats on the DS and comes out the 23rd.
It’s an rpg about this girl Cornet who has a puppet that comes to life and makes wisecracks all the time, and tries to help Cornet win the love of the local prince…however he is frozen to stone by the local evil queen who wants to win his love also.
Hilarity ensues, and the musical numbers are piss your pants funny! It’s a port from the Playstation. There are several youtube videos of the Playstation version so you can get an idea of what its like.

Jessica Marie: I absolutely adore renaissance festivals. There’s a huge one here in Atlanta ever year, but I could not go this year due to lack of fundage:(
Has anyone seen the screen shots for that new Batman game that takes place in Arkham Asylum? Not sure if it’s actually out yet, but those pictures made me happy in my pants. They’re even getting Mark Hamill to voice The Joker!
Special K! While my heart still belongs to Matt’s jukebox (if for no other reason than “Big Bad Wolf”), your blog’s playlist is significantly responsible for the Halloween frenzy I’ve already whipped myself into.

I’m watching a marathon of the horror movies that are available on Hulu. So far I watch The Curve & Ghoulies 2. I am currently watching Near Dark but i decided to take a break and try out the contest. Hey Matt can you autograph one of the packages If I win? BTW Please visit my website
It looks like Jason only just now discovered the Numa Numa dance.

velouria_78: I’m so glad you like it! I’m kind of limited by ProjectPlaylist, though. There are a lot of older songs I’d like to put on there, but I don’t have a buddy like Tummi to build me a playlist. :( Oh well, once the site is up I will have playlists and links to places to grab the songs and that will be better than nothing.
I dunno what scary thing to watch tonight. I’m being leaned on to watch Hellraiser, which I can stream on Netflix… but I did also buy the Leprechaun trilogy and HELLO lawnmower scene.
Matt,if you’re doing horror related Transformers for an article, don’t forget Abominus! Or that Decepticon that looks like Gigan and shoots sparks out of his mouth.

I am thinking I may watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massachre on VHS tonight. Alone in the woods. For now I’m watching football at a bar and people watching. About as scary here.
So is anyone else artistically challenged? Seriously, stick figures are masterpieces compared to my complete lack of artistic skill. Oh well, happy SNT everyone!

Yay, an SNT I am around for…well, woke up specifically to attend for.
Strangely, must have had this on my brain last night, just woke from a dream featuring some X-E folk being stalked at a summer camp while recording the whole thing on digital video cameras. It was like Friday 13th/Cloverfield/Scooby Doo project. It did raise several questions for me:
Why does Dohopoki look like the lovechild of Seth Green as Richie Tozer from IT and Doogie Howser? Is there anything scarier than JoshC’s ever growing, ever sharpening beard? Why is Capt. Will scared of fish? How did a bunch of 20/30-somethings get to book a summer camp anyway? Why was everyone so scared of a murderous stalker who never actually killed anyone? Why do I wake up giggling at walking through a dark wood, hearing ‘ch-ch-ch ah-ah-ah’ repeatedly then find it’s Matt’s ringtone on cell?

OK Matt, 45 minutes of effort and photoshoppery later, my entry is on its way to your Gmail!

Joker: Thanks for bringing that to my attention- will have to look into it. I went to Dragon*Con a few weeks back and almost bought an Arkham inmate shirt (bright orange, “Arkham Asylum” in a stenciled font with an inmate number).
I watched The Serpent and the Rainbow a few weeks back. Awesome movie, that. Being buried alive is one of my #1 fears.
I dig The Serpent and the Rainbow. Especially the old trailer/promos they ran for it, which made it seem like the scariest fucking thing ever to my kiddy eyes.
I just realized I have an East Coast feed of The Craft! Awesome! Now I don’t have to try and keep up with the YouTube timing while I work on my contest entry. Of course my cable’s being crummy tonight so we’ll see how long it lasts.
Doho, there’s this if you feel like dealing with it.
I’ll let someone else have a chance to win, it wouldn’t be fair of me to enter
Also, it sucks that I don’t get any of those channels, so I won’t be participating BUT I am watching the new ep of SNL tonight. James Franco is hosting!
Watching Craft now, will watch on HBO for now, then will switch to DVD when SNL starts, recording both SNL and Mad TV, and DVR/cable box combo only records two things at once.
Only saw the first ep of that Trueeee Bloooood show and I’m really on the fence about it. Could definitely see it crashing and burning, but I also admit to liking Rogue a lot better than I have previously.
My Jason Dancing submission is in! How exciting. I’d love to join you guys watching The Craft but I canceled HBO awhile back. Instead the wife and I have a night of wine and Ghost Whisperer on DVD to look forward to. JLH cleavage + Ghosts = fun for all!

Nice, Matt
Didn’t that guy play the brother in Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead? If anybody had the chance to watch that movie in HD, I highly recommend it if only to see Christina’s Applegate’s anachronistic hairy shoulders. Seriously, she looks like Sasquatch.
This movie is already reminding me of all the terrible things I did to my hair and face in high school.
Welp, I guess ya’ll are watchin the Craft so i’ll get back on Brawl later. I thnik i’ll pop in a scary movie myself.

Ooh, now I saw where the Charmed book of Shawows idea came from.
The book of shadows is a wiccan prop that has been around for… a really long time.
And True Blood is great.

“You did it the right way” oh god, 90’s angst, I love you.
I actually saw a “Book of Shadows” for sale at a discount bookstore earlier today. It’s was just a blank journal with a pentagram on the cover and a postcard inside telling you to explore your path or some such copout.
fuck this movie I am going up on the roof of my building.

Yeah new ep is tomorrow. And a “real” book of shadows is what the witch puts in themselves.. I’m recalling what I remember from the “I wanna be a witch” phase when i was 15 (around the time the craft came out.. but i wasn’t just the goth weirdo girl..i actually had books and did stuff)

They so clearly stole the Book of Shadows from Hssxxlllo.
Also, note that fair Fairuza also played the lead girl in The Worst Witch.
…a cult following for sure. We even have hoods, robes and sickles etched with “said2beavirtue” for rituals.
What? Oh come on, can’t just be me!

I missed out on all the scary movie fun because of football; big day for the SEC but I doubt there is little interest in that here
So I guess I’m off to find something to fall to sleep to; not sure if I can handle the Craft -once was enough for me- and Chainsaw movie will give me nightmares….
Yeah it’s that Worst Witch thing that makes me feel a little skeevy about the fact that I find Fairuza totally crush-worthy.
I have to admit, I always see Rachel True as Mary Jane from Half Baked…I wondered that too Matt! I also wondered why you’d be scared of sharks in a swimming pool, but I’ve been there.
Matt: I don’t even remember seeing promos for the movie. Know how I found out about it? The AMC Scariest Movie Moments countdown. That’s also how I found out about Suspiria and Alice, Sweet Alice.
Lol, Fairuza totally steals this film, we have chick from Prison Break, Neve Campbell from Party o Five, and the chick from Half Baked (who is now hanging out with Kathy Griffin).
True Blood is pretty good. It must be doing good ratings because HBO already renewed it for a second season.
That new Fringe show on Fox isn’t bad either.
Posted by JLAJRC
@ 09/20/2008 11:34 PM EDT
Tres: I think his power is out at the moment. :/
Cheetara: Oh, the promos were incredible. They really didn’t explain what the movie was about, which I suspect may be part of the reason it wasn’t a wild success. Not that a movie like that was going to be anyway. But the promos were all mysterious and almost always included the “DON’T BURY ME…I’M NOT DEAD” part, which was just totally haunting to me as a child.
A huge church had one of those labyrinth things in atlanta and we checked it out one lazy Saturday; as another matt said, it was all meditation and such. It was pretty cool….
At 1am the Craft is showing again on Starz. Just thought I would let you all know. I posted a couple of links that are alternatives to youtube one is all one movie not seperate parts in the halloween 8 ball thread. Fuck I’ll do it again…
I search on OVguide.com for a specific movie I am looking for usually. I go on joox.net daily and I have built up quite a good collection that way. Through orb.com I can play it through my Wii’s internet channel (yes!!!) so that solves the wanting to sit on my couch instead of in front of my computer problem. But you can find most movies streaming through ovguide.com just browse the sites or type in a specific movie. They aren’t the best quality but it works.
Bill I have texas chainsaw massacre! I don’t like it though I don’t like all of the running around screaming “NO! PLEASE! STOP! SOMEBODY! HELP! STOP!” and sobbing. I would rather watch child’s play or something.
I watched Gremlins 2 on HBO last night. They play that movie ALOT but I am not complaining. Great movie that one is. Still haven’t watched nightmare before christmas yet.
I want to do a saturday night fever Jason! Or a Pulp Fiction at the diner Jason! Anything with Jason doing an impression of John Travolta apparently.
Now I just have to get an Elvis costume and a bottle of gin…
He’d have downloaded it on Waiterbots laptop, be watching it with Waiterbot critiquing it and asking when Cher and Jack Nicholson were going to turn up over his shoulder.

Power is out? But does he have access to wi fi a laptop, laptop with wi fi? If no wi fi, old school dial up modem that stays on when the lights go out?
And I can’t wait for spellbound guy to get tossed out the window!
Ah, memories, light as a feather stiff as a board! Will they start doing Bloody Mary? Memories of late nights in camp bunks, and slumber parties.
Fringe seems like a good idea that is too unfocused right now….I’ll give it a few more weeks then decide whether or not I’ll stick with it. I actually watched Smallville this week…for old times sake I guess (it’s the last season) and was so glad to see new episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Hey everyone! I just wanted to drop in and say happy SNT! Does anyone else here collect the Spooky Town collectables? My wife and I recently became addicted! Those things are awesome!

Okay, coolest scene in the movie, Nancy doing in her evil stepdaddy!
Tres: I can’t do the really nasty/gory ones. A lot of the Troma stuff, even tongue-in-cheek, is too much for me.
Shauncho: We’ve been considering the Spooky Town stuff around these parts. They’re indeed awesome. So inspired and the kind of stuff you can stare at for hours.
Matt: We bought 3 pieces in one week. Michael’s had a huge sale. It was awesome! We bought the one called “Halloween Party” and another one that is the Morgue… There is just something about the spooky sounds and the lights that really put me in the Halloween spirit

175 grand gets you a high-rise apartment, with fancy jukebox? Those were the days, I guess…LOL Tresjolie, we’re of the same mind.
I can’t go for the super gross stuff either. I thought the nasty gags in Planet Terror were pretty bad.
I’m so shallow. More than anything, I wanted the “change looks on cue” powers. Then again, I spent a lot of time wearing dye gloves and scrubbing Punky Color off my forehead in those days.
Matt: I can imagine how that one line would be haunting as a child. For me, it’s all about the scene where the flaming boat floats into his bedroom at night. For some reason, talking about this movie has made me think of Poltergeist. The woman falling into the rain-filled swimming pool and the coffins popping up scared the bejeezus out of me.
Golden rule for camping as a kid, don’t be the first to go in to a deep sleep and snore, unless you want to be carried in your sleeping bag out of the tent, across to a neighbouring field and left under a bush.
Also, is it wrong that since waking I’ve wanted to look up how much summer camps are to rent off-season, despite being in the wrong damn country for it?

@ 09/21/2008 12:03 AM EDT
Shuanfu Cool! What actually happened was I saw the beginning in an earlier showing of it and I fell asleep. When I woke up about 20 mins later I wasn’t in the mood anymore and when off and did something else. then about 4 in the morning I flipped through the channels and saw it was on again and saw the rest.
I think we should all do at least one night something on Stickam. So at least 7 (one in the main cam and then 6 little ones) of us can be on webcam and be on chat when we are all watching the same movie together. Maybe a streaming movie online simultaneously? I have two webcams, one on my laptop and one from before maybe that would work? Could I possibly open up one browser and stream from that one while being on the other?? IS THAT POSSIBLE?!!? Inquiring minds want to know! I would point one to the tv and one to myself. Huh. I’ll have to research that and see if it’s been done before just to cure my curiosity.
I think I just might make some homemade rice pudding. I haven’t done it in a while and we really don’t have any desserts in the house to speak of. I would have to cram in that with watching movies, drawing a Jason that has rhythm and all of this other criteria.
Fairuza just reminded my of an amusing statistic I read earlier today, that Latinas make up 11% of the population but use 17% of the lip liner in this country. I thought it was funny that somebody thought to make the comparison.
Tres, um, not exactly…I helped to carry though. It may be sucky, but try not giggling when you think of a school friend in Bravestar underpants calling out “Heeeeello?” from the other side of a bush at seven in the morning, followed by “mooooooo”.
Well, dreamt of a gathering of X-E and a vlog of being stalked in the woods…but, a Friday the 13th/Sleepaway Camp marathon in real campsite would be good too, I guess.

I don’t remember Fairuza going batshit this early in the film. HE’S SORRY HE’S SORRY HE’S SORRY
No, according to IMDB she’s of Persian and Romany heritage. Sorry, I should have worded that better, she was just rocking a look that reminded me of that particular statistic.
Damn, these are some fair weather bitches. I wonder what the rosary budget for this movie was.
I’m about to put on A Nightmare on Elm st. Haven’t seen Freddy in a while. Also the Hellraiser flicks(the early ones ) are REALLY up there in the gore department! To say the LEAST!
ROFL, I’m always a bit disappointed by this film, yes they are fair weather bitches, but damn it, we actually cared about their characters at the start of the film. Is there any way they could do a sequel? I know they would all be pushing 30 right now, but to see Fairuza Balk playing Nancy again would so be worth it.
Curse my parental skills! I must get to bed soon. Well, SNT has kicked butt…..stinkbutt! Har har. Anyhow, can’t wait to see the results tomorrow. Thanks for the acknowledgment Matt. My night is made. My night of watching crappy TV and doing Photoshop combos for my friends on a website.
I tried to endure Sweeney Todd, and I just barely made it through. I just could NOT stand the CONSTANT singin!!! There’s some flicks that I love, that have singin in them, but they don’t sing for 97% of the movie , like they do in sweeney todd! Plus I didn’t really like the songs in sweeney todd.

At last, an SNT in which I can participate. I missed the last one because stupid Hurricane Ike knocked out my power…for three whole days–this happened just barely a week after being in the dark for most of a week when Hurricane Gustav came into town and knocked over trees and power lines.
I’ve been reading some of the old Halloween countdown entries today, to enhance the ‘weeny spirit. After having a lousy summer–lost several friends, plus I’m not a summer person–I’m looking forward to autumn and Halloween. I haven’t seen the director’s cut but I’ve actually heard nothing but bad things about it. To my understanding, the entire awesomeness of the movie in its original form was entirely dumb luck.
The local WB/CW station here is KCWI. Earlier tonite they were showing “The Brothers Grimm.” but the audio was so bad I just started watching my WWE 24/7 instead.
Don’t know if you guys count “Young Frankenstein” as a horror film but it is on Fox Movie Channel tonite at 1am also.

Saint, I wouldn’t say it’s that drastic a difference between versions. I preferred the Directors Cut if only for the little inserts of quotations from the book Donnie reads, but then I’d always go for Directors Cut, Extended, Extreme or Unseen versions when I pick up DVDs anyway.

Yarr, I be settin’ sail to the sciencetype fictionalism channel!
I watched about 10 minutes of Sweeney Todd. Just didn’t like it.
Goriest movie? Probably Dead alive. Most pushing the edge as far as morals? Probably Devil’s rejects. I love both of those movies.
Matt Aww come on!! You have to watch the Toxic Avenger at least once in your life! They have been playing it a lot on G4 recently. Please, for the puppies
Rev. I can’t believe you are my fake gf and you keep on calling Matt X-E Matt. Just call him Matt please. Please.
I am trying to decide whether to make rice pudding before or after SNL. I think during SNL I will work on my drawing, and whip up a batch of pudding before if I can become ambitious enough. If I can’t I will just make some during the Craft.
I entered the art contest where we were supposed to draw a monster or a bad character from a horror movie in a typical real life situation. I drew Freddy Kruger jacking off. LOL it was hilarious to me!! He was looking at like a horror comic or something I don’t remember. Anyway it wasn’t sent on time or something like that because it wasn’t in the article. God forbid Matt didn’t think that was appropriate. Oh well. I have the picture but I have no clue where. I drew it in ms paint. For what it was I think I did a pretty good job.
I watched the first 5 mins of the Craft the other day and it kind of piqued my interest even though it totally looked like Charmed which I hate that show with a passion I mean how cheesy is that show and ridiculous. I like cheesy sometimes but that is like girl show cheesy which I don’t like. It’s like Melrose place but with witchcraft and demons!
Man, this guy has everything in the world. I doubt anything bad could ever happen to him.

Goob: Oh god, there’s a scene in one of the Toxie movies — I can’t remember which — that’s so disgusting that I still attribute its visuals to why I can’t eat straight spaghetti well over a decade later. That’s all I will say.
I’ve gotten a fuckton of entries (well, a fuckton considering it’s a one-day-only thing) and I’m now trying to figure out how to highlight ‘em all in a single post.
I thought Donal Logue was the poor man’s Donal Logue.

Hey Cat I have the worst witch on my external hard drive! It’s nice to have a copy of it. I want to watch it when Bill comes over to visit. I think it just might become a tradition to watch it. It’s probably on youtube if anyone wants to watch it. If anybody wants a copy and has AIM or Yahoo I can transfer it if they have a fast connection. I have one too and I think it would be a waste of time through dial up.
Looks like those jerks are going to escape scot-free in good ol’ Salem. What a shame. They deserve some kind of punishment. Oh well. I guess the rest of the movie is them just living a life of luxury.

Goob-
The first five minutes of The Craft seemed like Charmed because Charmed ripped them off. I think they even used the same shitty How Soon Is Now? cover.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if these two actually got devoured by graveyard rats? It’d be like the gravedigger and the title were prophetic!
Really? The craft reminds of all the goth girls when I went to high school. Look at me I buy my clothes at the hot topic and wear black lipstick I am DEEP and MATURE.
Cheese Bubble is a good name. Second story just started.

I think all of you need to man up in the geek department and cut straight through to the ANGELA EFFING LANSBURY version of Sweeney Todd, back when Hollowwood still had a few original ideas (although it was old even then).
Nothing like seeing a little Murder, She Wrote action in your mind while watching THAT mess.

Hey guys Tresjolie9 gave me a great name. Thanks, buddy!

First off, is this the same chick from the first movie, with a brown wig?
Second off, Captain Will, how long will the Olympic Spirit be in our hearts? One year later? Until the next Winter Olympics start?
And I like the screen name “PhelpsPhan” for our new friend.
Tresjolie9: Actually, the Ghosts of Olympics Past and Present told me that the Olympics are in our hearts all the time. And then a bunch of Muppets came and sang some songs about it.
Hey, that reminds me. I totally won Ghoul-Aid LAST time you were having a “Win Some Ghoul-Aid!” contest, and it never showed up. Friggin’ customs.

Tres, until 2012…after we brits get our mits on it, Olympic spirit will be Betamax. Weep for it.

Hate to break it to ya, ULTRAMAN, but Mumm-Ra isn’t anywhere near that list. Must be an 80’s/90’s generational gap. I just don’t see what’s so great about him. A mummy…from space…terrorizing anthromorphized cats. Yeah. And he got beat every week by the Thundercats. Not really a “OMG Evil!” force, much like other 80’s villains.
Yeah but I don’t know if I want to keep it because I’m not a big fan of Phelps. If I was to have an Olympic athlete inspired name with illiteration it would be SacramoneSexer.
Also “illiteration” is on purpose because when I do it it’s ill.
Invader Norbert: ALL villains get beat by the heroes. That’s just how it is. =) I could never understand that as a kid. I mean the villains should of at least won one victory every now and then. As for villains that we never really cared for, and I know i’m goona be yelled at for this, I always hated(and still do) G1 megatron. Everyone allways talks about how cool a villain he was, but he never did anything any other cartoon villian didn’t do. Plus , he had one of the WORST alt modes of all the transformers. A tiny walther P38? No thanks! Let the tearing apart of my opinions, BEGIN! =)

Man more like Trilogy of Terrible 2. The only thing scary about this was that someone conceived it, wrote it, approved it, and directed it TWICE!

We have to fake US accents in movies, otherwise we only get to be bad guys. Not just in movies, Advent Calendars too.
Though, what about US actors faking British accents?

@ 09/21/2008 1:59 AM EDT
Am I reading correctly that some of you are watching this without commercials? Because I’m getting commercials every five minutes.
Nah, we are getting commercials. It’s just that they went 20 minutes without one at first.
Also, in that wiener pill commercial, they really couldn’t find a more attractive woman? I know that dude is a porn star, but they couldn’t get a lady porn star too? Was the budget not big enough?

First off, I will apologize about Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Also will apologize about James Marsters if you didn’t like his accent. I am of the school that movie producers have load of money, if they want a character to be from the UK, cast an actual actor from the UK.
I hate the UK accent=bad guy thing, why not have more everyday joes who happen to be from the UK? ER and Boston Legal have improved the problem, but I am tired of the cliched bad guy with a UK accent. Or people from the UK are proper and posh. We have enough UK TV here where people from there don’t have to be portrayed like that.
Also here on the East Coast, watching on NYC Time Warner Cable, there are certainly commercials. Some which are quite annoying, like the Gallagher’s 2000 UFO one.
Ultraman, I agree with early Megatron being sucky, Unicron rebuilding him was best thing to happen to him. Though I highly recommend grabbing the current run of All Hail Megatron, it rules all.
I thought Mumm-Ra was actually a great villain. Pointy-teeth, changes from withered mummy to demi-god, shapeshifting trickster, black pyramid, devil dog for a pet….resurrection abilities.

@ 09/21/2008 2:05 AM EDT
Okay, it is wrench versus knife? Anyone have a rope, a lead pipe?
Actually, Tres, I thought James Marsters accent was cool…despite thinking he was trying to be Australian.
The problem with cliched Brit bad guys is it means everyone expects us to be bad guys, so it’s less of an impact when we’re plotting domination.
This is no longer shocking:
“I’m going to control your nation and destroy your way of life!”
“Well, yeah…you’ve got a British accent…”
This is probably commonplace:
“Good morning, a cup of coffee, please?”
“Is that a British accent?”
“Yes…”
“So, you’ll be wanting to destroy my home and kill my family too!”
“…no, um, actually I was just going to ask for creamer…”
“Ha, to flood our nation no doubt…or to cripple our economy by taking all our free beverage additions…”
“…um, you know…I’m not thirsty anymore…”
“I see, so you’ll try to bankrupt me by not buying my coffee…oh, he’s gone…”

Nope, or Bobby says they come back as Alien things….
Ultraman…I even prefered G2 Megatron to G1 Megatron too, despite being a purple and green tank with a purple cannon, he was still a damn tank. Galvy at least had that he was nucking futs, any flaws in his plans could easily be put down to the fack he was just that lil bit fruitloop.

I recorded Trilogy of Terror 2. We will watch that on another late night. SNL was on tonight. It was mostly lame.
Yesterday, I was jazzed to start watching the Scream trilogy again because I hadn’t seen it for a couple years. I pop in the flagship movie and the darn thing is non-anamorphic. That means if you have a widescreen TV, they are additional black bars on your screen even though your TV already accounts for them. So now the picture looks smooshed and half the size it should. It’s totally lame. Fortunately Scream 2 and 3 aren’t like that. I just had to rip the thing on my computer and plan on watching it that way.

Well, Guise, at least UK accent=Smart Person. Even if they aren’t trying to take over the world, if we hear someone with a UK accent on US TV, means that they are smart and educated ;-D
And people in the UK drank coffee? I thought they only drank tea?
Oh god, Buckley I hate it when films are not in non-anamorphic wide screen. Can you go to “wide screen zoom,” on the TV? I think that is what I do with my DVD player for films like that, I have a new TV and a lot of older DVDs.
I need to get a new DVD player.
Also when you get a film like that, can you just pretend the film is 4/3? You may have a “picture frame, but at least it is displaying in the right aspect ratio. I have a “picture frame,” on a lot of cable things. The “4:3″ zoom on the cable box never quite works when TV shows are in wide screen. It is kind of annoying but something I”m used to.
Oh dear, Trilogy of Terror 2. I watched that on its big premiere, which was probably over a decade ago. The ending of the last episode almost seems cool at first, until about a millisecond later when you realize it was just trying way too hard to be clever.

We even have all those weird different kinds and combinations. And, yes, we have Starbucks too.
What we don’t get, or I’ve never found, is Kool-aid or root beer, though we do have Gatorade.

Okay, even if I am some super skeptic scientist and they present me with a doll found at the scene of 2 dead people, and it has a warning about a chain, I am definitely not messing around and putting that damn necklace on and not laughing at the thing.
Also long sentences are the best.

Does anyone remember that movie, a chapter horror movie kinda like this one, where one of the chapters hand a monster in a museum (or something) that lived in the stairwell and ate people?
That thing scared the crap out of me when I was 8, but I can’t the movie!
Wow, this lady just isn’t having a good day. Eaten by rats, killed by demon son, and now a Zuni doll is after her. Poor girl’s only had a slice of pizza all day!
Yes, grab the blade with your already cut up fingers. Don’t try to find something else tht you could potentially stick the blade into. And didn’t this woman have a ax before?
Tresjolie, the terrible Child’s Play movies. I had a joke lined up about them and this but decided to wait it out, and now that I mentioned it the reference won’t seem so hilariously zany.
By the way, is bold [ B ] or ?

Also for bold, use the HTML bold code, this site uses HTML codes as far as I’m aware, no BB Code.
And I’m sorry but that woman hasbeen possessed by the Zuni Doll now, whiskey tango foxtrot!
Matt, this needs to be a regular Saturday night feature. Pick a bunch of scary movies and we will try to be there. Or, pick out a DVD a few days ahead of time. Good fun!
Tresjolie9:I find it funny when people who aren’t from the South or Kentucky try to fake a redneck accent. Like you, we can tell when someones tryin to fake it. lol.
Posted by ULTRAMAN
@ 09/21/2008 3:07 AM EDT
That doll was hilarious. And I would love to have a flick picked every Saturday night, preferably something on basic cable, so all can enjoy. Or since this DVD has people in all different time zones, perhaps an easily obtainable DVD would be best.
Oh yes Ultraman, forgot to say a major part of that rule, fake Southern accents offend Southerners. Contrary to US and international ears, there is not just one universal Southern accent. People from the Carolinas, Geroga, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas don’t all sound the same.
Tresjolie: Yep, because you get freaks like me whose parents were in the military, so they moved all over the place to the point where they have a weird southern accent all there own. I got pegged as a Virginian by one professor I had… the closest I’ve ever lived to Virginia is North Carolina!
I’m sorry about saying that The Craft is going to be on again tonight but they are showing it a lot this week. At least 4 times or so, once starting at 9:30 pm. I am going to work on my drawing now and watch some tv.
