I don’t know why, but I have an itch to go as William Wallace this year. The blue face paint just sounds like fun. I have to work on Halloween this year also, which means that dressing up is going to not be a choice, but a requirement. So, I guess the countdown is starting this week, I feel like I should get ready somehow…

My husband has been after me to dye my hair blond…so If I do…being a plus size gal…I’m gonna go as Zombie Anna Nicole Smith….maybe…or If I stick to brunette which is my natural color…I will be a plus size version of sara palin.

For the Halloween convention, I won’t be able to dress up during the day because I’m a committee member and I need to look authoritative and stuff. I suppose I could do zombie make-up with my staff shirt? At night I’m going to (hopefully) dress up as a Victorian doll. Depends on if I feel like sewing it myself in the next two weeks or not.

Two weeks before Halloween we are going to a party where the theme is fairies (and related beings). I’m going as an ondine (water fairy) and my boyfriend is going as a [GIANT] leprechaun.

Don’t know what I’ll be this year, it will depend on if I’m working at The House of Shock (great NOLA haunted house, was created by Phil Ansalmo of Pantera and Down fame and a few of his buddies). That will pretty much dictate what I’ll be doing for halloween and what I’ll be dressed as.

Mandy_R You definitely need to do the dye thing, Zombies are cool anyway, but an Anna Nicole Zombie would be over-the-top doll!! Kudos to the hubbie, and as a parting thought…the sara palin zombie may in fact become a reality…..

Chestnuts roasted by Railpirate @ 09/14/2008 1:58 PM

Zombie Sarah Palin would be the greatest costume ever.

Freudguy, I got to see Sweeney Todd recently too! I’d seen a live musical before (Annie), but this was way more awesome. Especially since ours was in a small theater so we were really close, plus a guy we knew played the Beadle. Seeing people fake-murdered is a whole new level of exciting when you know one of the victims.

William Wallace made me think of Walter Sullivan for some reason

I can’t believe I missed SNT. I got sick. Again. :(

I was laying in bed with the bf getting all excited cuz we were gonna have Red Lobster for dinner on account of I joined the new Weight Watchers group at work and my first weigh-in is Wednesday and if I lose the most weight I get all my membership fees back… those old broads are going down. But when I got up, everything started to spin. I think I was having vertigo, which is weird, cuz I haven’t had one of those strange dizzy spells in like 4-5 years.

The good thing, tho, was that Myke (my bf) was here so he took excellent care of me all day and night. I was almost completely incapacitated, I couldn’t move without the spinning and getting nauseous thing. Amazed I didn’t puke. At one point when I had to go pee it took 20 min to get to the bathroom and back, partially because I was on the floor clutching the seat for a while, but Myke held me up while I was walking so I didn’t fall. I just crawled to the bathroom on later attempts. Aw, and in the morning when I was feeling better I asked if he’d run to the store in town and get me a donut. It was taking him a while to get back and then he shows up with a box of Dunkin Donuts for me! ^_^ He’s not from the area, so it’s the first time he drove out of town on his own and everything. He’s so good to me. ^_^

Woo-hoo!

One week away, or less.

I actually came back for my annual 4 months last week but my post didn’t post and wouldn’t let me re-post.

Got a good feeling about this year, the passion won’t die out mid-october. I have faith.

Chestnuts roasted by Dan @ 09/14/2008 5:07 PM

For Halloween, I think I will dress up as my idol–Olympic gold medalist/recovering alcoholic Oksana Baiul.

Chestnuts roasted by MaryCherry @ 09/14/2008 5:39 PM

JoshC is Ready for some football..
And hopefully a working computer BEFORE the countdown.
How’s everyone?

Chestnuts roasted by JoshC @ 09/14/2008 7:45 PM

Ahhh, just blew $250 on random Halloween goodies and I’m happy to report that there’s enough here to cover a few weeks’ worth of content. Lots of fun stuff.

In other news, I’ve decided to do this year’s Halloween Countdown on the blog itself. I know this might be an unpopular decision with those who really liked the former format, but I don’t want to set myself up to fail — and there’s no way I’m going to be able to write 45 full-length articles between now and Halloween. That said, the blog will definitely feel Halloweenified, with a tweaked design, returning jukebox, freebie contests and assorted other things. Keep the faith. :)

One thing I definitely want to bring back are the SNTs matched with horror movie nights — so if anyone sees any really great horror movies happening on Saturday nights, let me/us know!

I’m pretty excited. Once everything is finished, I think it’ll be a pretty strong (and fun) Countdown, and one that won’t taper off into spooky sputters by mid October.

Please fix the Less than 3 situation. I hate it when everything I write after the less than sign doesn’t show up ;_;;

Chestnuts roasted by Neg @ 09/14/2008 8:19 PM

Holy Crap!!! Josh lives!!!

Chestnuts roasted by Dan @ 09/14/2008 8:38 PM

Remember those times I said I’m not looking forward to Halloween because it reminds me that summer is over?

Well, I just saw Frankenberry flavored Fruit Roll-Ups at the CVS that I work at.

Let the spooky begin!

Also, PLEASE let there be more Ghost with The Most!

Chestnuts roasted by Invader Norbert @ 09/14/2008 8:58 PM

YAY! Halloween–I’m pumped! And Invader Norbert I need to know more about these fruit roll-ups!

Hey Matt! Just wondering, will the Big G Magic DVD I sent you last year make it into this years Halloween extravaganza? Can’t wait for the fun to start!

Chestnuts roasted by Barry @ 09/14/2008 9:48 PM

Hey Matt, will your alter ego be appearing on YouTube? I haven’t dressed up in years for
Halloween. I’d probably go a Jango Fett if I
could. What’s your favorite Halloween memory?
I remember a truck in front of us with a
coffin in the back. It opened, and a man in a
gorilla suit came out. Didn’t scare me.

Chestnuts roasted by LoneStar76 @ 09/14/2008 10:16 PM

Mystie that man is a keeper! Also, I have been getting dizzy myself, but for me it’s due to fluid back up in my ears…I ended up taking off work tonight, and turns out I was not even scheduled! HA HA! weeeee!

ooh I like the zombie sara palin idea! hmm

anyhow…frikkin 90 degrees here tonight in NJ. The air conditioner is barely helping.

Wow….I knew people disliked George W Bush….but I did’nt realize HOW much they dislike him! During my little side job at night, I’m a research assistant for a public opinion survey group. Not telemarketing…we call and ask people views on world events, local policies in their state, and when we get to the question of how they think GW is doing….OMG…. I have learned to type so quick! These people go off on tangents 10 minutes long! It’s very eye opening.

Chestnuts roasted by mandy_Reeves @ 09/14/2008 10:20 PM

Ah yes — mid-September. That time of year I begin stressing out for six weeks because I have NO IDEA what to be for Halloween. :D

My problem isn’t coming up with costumes, it’s coming up with costumes that aren’t too obscure to be understood by my family and friends.

Chestnuts roasted by Blake @ 09/14/2008 10:20 PM

I start at the blog page anyway Matt; haven’t seen the main page in forever….

Been awhile since I’ve posted, too….hope all is well in the world for all in the X-E family!

Chestnuts roasted by Shuanfu @ 09/14/2008 10:49 PM

No, no, Shaun. This is how you do it:

“There’s a main page? When did this shit happen?”

Chestnuts roasted by Neg @ 09/14/2008 10:58 PM

Hurray! This will be great, I like the blog format and if it does taper off into spooky sputters, all will be forgiven because you used the phrase “spooky sputters”.

Has anyone seen the “Animated Crawling Girl”? I saw it at the ‘Spirit’ Halloween store today, wasn’t sure if it was new or not.

Chestnuts roasted by Faith @ 09/14/2008 11:04 PM

I’ve been playing (and playing) the Silent Hill series for a good couple weeks now (well the original trilogy anyway; been futzing around with 4–it’s OKAY). So, I am more than ready for the festivities.

I’ll chain Matt to the counter at Spencer’s if I have to ;)
