Special K I had a feeling I would get that response. Seriously, he cannot do the voice, and after a few Jagerbombs I doubt it will get any better. I on the other hand, randomly practice my monarch voice…which is totally odd in an endearing way (or at least that is what i have been told)

wow tons of venture brothers so far… still not sure what my fiance and I are going as. We have done a few good ones such as peter parker (complete with camera and spidey costume popping out of street clothes) and gwen stacy, Kid rock and pam anderson (when they were together, it was awesome). Couples costumes are hard….

I need to make a list as to what specials and movies I’m going to watch this year for the holidays. The more I think about Halloween, the more specials and movies I want to add to my list. I remember after reading one of Matt’s articles on the best Halloween specials or something to that degree, he mentioned one old animated special called, “Witch’s Night Out.” I got a copy of it on VHS that I ordered through Amazon Marketplace. I watched it once, but it was months before Halloween because I was in Iraq at the time and I didn’t know when we’d be home and if we we would back for Halloween.
Anyway, I’m going to try to watch all the Halloween movies this year minus the original 1978 version. It’s not that I don’t like it, heck, it’s probably the best in the franchise. It’s just that I’ve seen it last year and a couple times before that. As for the other movies, I have yet to see the remake Rob Zombie version so maybe that could be the first in the series to watch.
Now that I go through my list, I know I wanted to save Tales From the Darkside, the Movie for the Halloween season. I should also start watching Tales From the Darkside on Sci-Fi Channel. I know there’s other specials I need to add such as Fat Albert’s Halloween Special (a Classic in many respects) and Will Winton’s Halloween Special (which is part of a three-special series on DVD that also includes Will Vinton’s Christmas and Easter Specials). I need to also remind myself that I need to also watch “Monster House.” I have the DVD and I watched the movie once, but it just doesn’t seem right unless I watch it during the Halloween season. Oh yes, and of course I HAVE to include all the Simnpsons Treehouse of Horrors Special. That’s another thing I always wanted to do, watch all of those specials every year. Will I be able to do this year?
One final note, does anyone here consider the original Gremlins to be a Christmas movie? I watched it last year as part of my Christmas Special Countdown and I felt it fit right in with the Christmas Season. I almost thought about Batman Returns but haven’t put that in the rotation either. There is one special that I found on an old VHS tape that didn’t fully record. I think it was called, “A Disney Channel Christmas.” Anyway, I found someone selling an old videotape with the special on Amazon so I may need to order that. Oh, and this year for Thanksgiving, I intend to get a copy of Bugs Bunny Thanksgiving Diet. It’s one of those long-lost specials I haven’t seen in years, and I don’t feel my Thanksgiving can be complete without it. Not even when they released the Garfield Holiday Specials on DVD did the Thanksgiving episode fulfill me. The only substitute I can come up with along with that and of course “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” is the “This Is America Charlie Brown, The Mayflower Voyages” episode and even that is not completely fulfilling.
So, when I do start my holiday special countdown, I’ll keep you all up as to how I’m doing, and of course I’m always open to suggestions as to what I should add to the list.

I don’t think I’d consider Gremlins a Christmas movie, but I’d call it more of a Christmas movie than a Halloween movie.

I’ve actually seen “It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown!” Ugh.
Also, now with Season 3 wrapped up, see if you can somehow put together a Dr. Mrs. The Monarch costume.
It’s where I sum up all things pop culture in 10 words only. It’ll be updated every weekday. Don’t worry, I’ve got 3 1/2 weeks of entries all written and waiting to be posted, so I won’t run out of material for quite some time.
Turns out gall bladder attacks feel like a heart attack. It’s just my gall bladder acting up again…and a bladder infection….The thing that scared me was that after they took a chest x ray they made me take like 6 childrens chewable aspirins which are killing my stomach right now…
aspirins are for people with heart attacks…and I didn’t have a heart attack so thats a little weird. anyways….yeah I have tonight off and tommorow so I can rest.

I hope you’re feeling fine now mandy_reeves. They
actually made a remake of The Day The Earth Stood
Still. Matt, ever thought of reviewing the two-
part Halloween episode of Growing Pains? The one
with Mike telling that baloney story about
meeting a girl who turns out to be a ghost.
One of the most recycled ghost stories ever.

Wow, rest up Rev. That sounds scary.
Happy MNT! Fuck a duck I missed it again. Still no internet in the woods. Has to be up before the Halloween kick off.
Hey, Bill, I’m gonna rest up, too. Thanks for caring!
Mandy Reeves, that does sound scary. Our human organs are forever betraying us. Tell that bladder you’re not gonna take this lying down. Show that bladder just who is the big boss of its area. Kick ass. Take names. Slack off.
@special k: damn you got a head start! a halloween swap meet?!?! sounds amazing! you will have to keep us updated as to what treasures you get.
my plan is to finish shopping this week. start decorating next. i am getting married sept 28 and will be on my honey moon the very first week in october. so when i get back i want to come home to a fright fest!!!!

No problem, Rev! Just take two of these and rub this on your head. Call me in the morning.
I’m a docktur, too.
Not sure what this says about me but I quickly glanced at the Summer Mega Party sticker on the blog page and thought ohh Matt’s put up a halloween theme cuz I looked at it quickly and thought it was a killer clown with sharp teeth, then I looked closer and saw it was actually just a snowcone

Debating whether to do Hare, or perhaps Mare. Mare might be easier, requiring gold paint, star shaped cut outs, and long white skirt!
To all people of Mexican descent, remember that tonight is El Grito. Happy Independence Day

Well, my neck of the woods suffered a BIG blackout last night. And let me tell you it REALLY SUCKED!!! Thankfully the power was back on when I woke up today. I played my NDS to pass the time. Anayway , I took a trip to Wally world last night and picked up some Halloween candy. Candy Corn( yes I like candy corn) and those little pumpkin candy that are sorta look like candy corn, but have their own flavor. I couldn’t find any of the monster cereals. And by monster cereals, I mean Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Frankenberry. But I won’t give up. Oh, I also picked up the new 2 disc special edition of the Nightmare before Christmas! Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet though. What’s up Rev? Hope yur doin allright. Same goes for all you other X-Ers. =)

Hey kids, just dropping you a line to let you know I miss you all loads and I’m still alive. I’ll be checking in regularly again starting tomorrow sometime. I HAD to drop in tonight to share the excitement because I just got back from the grocery store where I spotted and bought…
MY FIRST 12 PACK OF SIERRA MIST CRANBERRY SPLASH OF THE SEASON!!! Zippity-doo!
Plus, all the stores around are in full Halloween effect. Might be doing some shopping tomorrow. For you listeners of my show, I’ll be on tonight as usual at 10. For you non-listeners, you can do the clicky deal on my name to find out all you need to know.
Loving the pre-Halloween warm up happening around here. Work and everything else has sucked up all my time the last couple of months, but I’ll be back around in the next few days…just in time.
Oh God. I have to resist the urge to get that Sierra Mist until at least November. It’s seriously become one of my favorite things about the Christmas season. It’s amazing how the holidays can take even the simplest items and make them feel like jewel-encrusted magic totems.
Already bought a 2 liter- excited as hell to crack it open.
As an aside- The BF and I are going to have a Halloween party. And probably invite a Justice of the Peace to suprise the guests by getting married.
muwahaha.
I hear ya Matt! There are just some Holiday foods and drinks that taste SO good, you wish they would stick around the WHOLE year!

God yes, Pitch Black. That would be great. The Cranberry Splash came just in the nick of time. I’m down to my last 3 cans of Mountain Dew Supernova, and it looks like it’s just gone for good around here. I can’t find anymore anywhere. I was getting seriously hooked on that, but at least I’ve got something to take its place again.
I am in support of the Halloween countdown bein in blog form this year. If it means Matt won’t get burned out early like he did last year, then it’s MORE than worth it. Besides, it won’t be THAT different than the normal format for the countdown.
DJD: I know what you mean. I LOVE the SuperNova flavor. But alas, it looks like it’s gone forever. Or atleast for good while. Oh well, Voltage is really great too. I’m assuming that’s the flavor that won, because the last time I checked it was significantly ahead of the other flavors.

Revolution was Pepsi Blue.
Damn you all for not wanting the return of Pepsi Blue. Bring back Crystal Pepsi next, plx.
But yeah-
we love Halloween and it just makes sense for us. We were going to get married in Vegas last year, but Rudy got his vacation revoked.
Besides, with Rudy’s HUGE family we’re looking to find a reason to get them together yet not break the bank and lie to our family and ourselves by making it all white gowns and flying doves.
Just scary costumes, assloads of candy and kegs of beer! w00t!
don’t worry, i won’t tell any of your family or friends. and if they ask, i will lie.
oooh, halloween wedding, so many possibilities. that sounds like my dream wedding. the closest i was able to come was to get married in a black dress on friday, oct. 13th (2006). no zombies in attendance (if you dont count my dad’s wife), but that would have been too much fun.

I forgot to mention earlier that I also got some peeps. Jack-O-Lantern and Ghosts.

My fiance and I are getting married on Halloween. It’s my absolute favorite time of the year. It’s going to be a small ceremony in my parent’s backyard with my cousin, who is a minister, officating. Only my parents and his are going to be there. My dad has terminal cancer and I just want him to be able to give me away.
I’m marrying a good one. He’s not big into horror movies but he lets me drag him all over the country to conventions, take me 3 hours away to see F13:3D in actual 3D, decorate our house with all my horror crap and marry me on Halloween,
Swoon…

Wow, a lot of weddings coming up. It sounds to me like I’m a dying breed and one of last remaining bachelors on this site. All I know is I’m sure ain’t ready to get married anytime soon!

ULTRAMAN, Yeah, Voltage is alright but I still can’t get past the fact that it looks like Windex.
Amy, Dude, I started looking for that stuff weeks ago. I’m just so glad it’s back around.
kittymao, That sounds like one of the best weddings to ever happen ever, ever.
Cameron: You’re sounding as though it’s a curse of some sort. I always thought springtime was the season of love but I guess around here, it’s Halloween!

A curse to me, I’m ready to find myself a woman…
As for Halloween costumes, I have no idea. I usually do something subtle. My Dad dressed in all black last year at work and told everybody he was the bank balance. I like things like that.
Anyway, I probably won’t figure out what/if I want to do anything until the week before Halloween.
Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 09/15/2008 11:55 PM EDT
Well, I’m ready and been wanting to meet one as well, for a while. Perhaps since we’re both in Central Texas area, we should get together and drive around experiencing the nightlife. Perhaps we can be like the “Night At the Roxbury” guys and start banging our heads to the constant tune of, “What Is Love? Baby Don’t Hurt Me…” Of course then we’d have to bump and grind every woman we see and next thing we know, we are getting are asses sued for sexual harassment and everything. Okay so maybe it’s not such a good idea!!!!

You should really update the main page for All Hallows Eve.

Amy! That is my anniversary too!!! I think its nice to get to celebrate them separately. Its like we have our anniversary, and then remember- oh yeah! 2 weeks later Halloween! Yay!!! I would love to see a photo of your dress if you have a link to it on a website somewhere. I looked and looked for dresses for a year, the only dress I loved was this amazing shiney blood red dress, with all these cascading bits in the back, but it was a designer gown and like $1000…lol. I couldnt find a knock off like it anywhere! I did a lot of things to make my wedding have a halloween feel, vintage/retro Halloween decor everywhere. It was cool.

Oh hey guys, speaking of weddings, my fiance is now my husband as of Friday! We just did the courthouse thing since we don’t have any damn money, but our friends are supposed to throw us a party in a week or two.
Also my internet was down from Thursday to today. I’m just glad to have it back.
You guys should head over to the Playmobil website, and search for snowmen. They’ve changed them, so now I can never have a Mista Snowman of my very own! Oh the humanity!
Yes congrats Annette! My wedding was “small” at least acording to all the wedding magazines, and guess what? Looking back, I wish it had been even smaller! A party with your friends, no better way to celebrate the start of a marriage! Also congrats to anyone else that has gotten married lately, or getting married soon. The fall really is a very romantic time for many X-E peeps!

Trust me BJ I am not going to get married anytime soon. I am happy for the lovebirds though!
Ash I saw a Halloween themed wedding video on youtube last Halloween it was very cheesy but I think it was because I didn’t know them. The guy was dressed up as beetlejuice, makeup and all. He did a little impression and then they went into how you are my rock and you turned my life around, you are the first thing I think about when I get up yadda yadda.
If a loved one called me a rock, I think I’d have to hit them with one~

Well I’m off to work in a few min. I found some really awesome office quality attire at Burlington Coat Factory…seriously, I always thought they were like bottom of the barrel seconds and defects, but wow! It’s like first quality name brand stuff and so friggin cheap!!! I got a nice blouse that was 40 retail and Burlington had it for 9.99. I had seen it at Macy’s or Boscovs for that much so I did get a deal….and more stuff but you all don’t feel like hearing about my clothes. BBL today to let everyone know how it went!

congrats to all the fall weddings and romances. my fiance and i love the fall and we are getting married the same day we got engaged 2 years ago. so its all very exciting.
just ordered a ton of stuff from frightcatalog.com. they were having some steals on a few items that i didn’t see at the local stops for halloween goodness. i couldn’t resist a michael myers that looks as if he is stabbing thru the wall while playing the movies main theme.
i am really hoping for some new holiday flavored drinks this year, but if we are not so lucky then all the old favs will do.
BTW Sept. 23 The Peanuts Brown Holiday Collection comes out on dvd. I have most of these anyway, but it will be nice to have them all together neatly packaged.
