You are all doomed. Why not surrender? We might let you live.

08/02/2008: X-E’s ‘08 Summer Megaparty: Random SNT.

Ahhh…finally caught up on sleep. I probably need six more hours before I can function at a normal level again, but things have improved. I’m no longer taking inclement weather as a personal offense, for example.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there aren’t a great many of you around tonight, but if you are, here’s your SNT.

I need a background movie. And ambient noise. And an indoor fountain with some of that cool, dim neon lighting. I just want to hear some stuff.

Shit, I really left the door open for “where’s the summer juke” comments with that last paragraph. :)

i slept on and off all day today. now i just feel tired.

Ghosted by Amy @ 08/02/2008 11:09 PM EDT

Yes, yes you did. But not from me.

Ghosted by Thomas @ 08/02/2008 11:09 PM EDT

I have never been so proud of sleeping in all my life. After spending the last week or two surviving on so little of it, I feel a great sense of accomplishment and can only assume that everything in my life will vastly improve from this point forth.

Ghosted by Matt @ 08/02/2008 11:10 PM EDT

I took a nap today. So no sleep for me for a while.

So I’ll probably be up for a little SNT!

Two words:

Nihil Obstat

As far as ambient noise goes, you can’t go wrong with him.

Ghosted by anonymous @ 08/02/2008 11:11 PM EDT

Wasn’t he one of the background dudes on the Jedi Council?

Ghosted by Matt @ 08/02/2008 11:12 PM EDT

If i’m able to post this high on the thread, then I must once again recommend Ring of Darkness
on DVD. Best worst horror movie I’ve ever seen. Nowhere else will you find a movie about a gay vampire boy band that’s too howlingly funny to be scary, but the dramatic stuff is taken too suriously to work as an actual comedy? Please watch this movie, Matt, and review it. You will not regret it.

Ghosted by Thomas @ 08/02/2008 11:12 PM EDT

I like sleeping in late on the weekends, helps make up for the 6 hours a night during the week.

Ghosted by seel @ 08/02/2008 11:14 PM EDT

Hey Matt, my Mom picked me up a Legend of Zelda promo disc today. It has Zelda I and II, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, all on one disc! As for a background movie, may I suggest Batman Forever? Or perhaps the first Die Hard?

Ghosted by Hoverbored @ 08/02/2008 11:14 PM EDT

Hey Norb and moonman, thanks for the advice. I graduated from kent state here in ohio (you know…the place where 4 kids got shot and killed my the national guard in 1970?) and i would have to say the commute sounds about the same as it is here in kent. my first 2 years of going there, i had to park by the stadium and then take a bus ride to the main part of campus…even then, finding a parking spot was hit or miss since they over sell the parking spaces by about 100 passes each semester. now that i am a research assistant and get to park in the grad student parking lot i have no trouble with parking, but it took 4 and a half years of college and a degree to get that far

Ghosted by Leigha @ 08/02/2008 11:14 PM EDT

I messed up on the bold text again.

Ghosted by Hoverbored @ 08/02/2008 11:17 PM EDT

Leigha
I started working for Baylor University recently, which I graduated from two years ago. The best part about the job is my all-powerful Faculty/Employee parking sticker, which lets me park in any Faculty OR student space. I feel awesome.

Oh, and Matt, regarding being mad at inclement weather, Even with enough sleep I have to shake my fist at the evil sun today. The high was 102. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 106. Shit.

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 08/02/2008 11:20 PM EDT

Probably a bit more involving than background noise, but I’m watching “Prehistoric Monsters” on the History Channel. Did you know there were once dragonflies with THREE-FOOT wingspans?

Ghosted by The Real Andrew @ 08/02/2008 11:21 PM EDT

I’ve been sick since last night. It sucks. :(

Ghosted by JLAJRC @ 08/02/2008 11:23 PM EDT

Background music?
Tortoise.

Ghosted by JoshC @ 08/02/2008 11:23 PM EDT

Where IS the juke, anyway?

Ghosted by Invader Norbert @ 08/02/2008 11:29 PM EDT

Ugh…it was 103 today around 105 tomorrow…I would KILL for some 80’s here! A good background movie is a movie like Big or Close Encounters of the Third Kind…Love them both but you don’t have to totally pay attention

Ghosted by gingela5 @ 08/02/2008 11:36 PM EDT

Awesome summer back ground music- Los Straitjackets. Amazing hard core surf music, with some spanish and english lyrics. They wear Luchadore masks. Can’t go wrong with that.

Ghosted by Rae @ 08/02/2008 11:40 PM EDT

Tank Girl is on TV…so yay! Happy SNT!

Ghosted by kb @ 08/02/2008 11:42 PM EDT

Shark Week is still on. That’s always good background viewing.

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 08/02/2008 11:43 PM EDT

Three words, Dead Can Dance… beautiful ambient music, multi-cultural mixmash but still beautiful. Also, Cam, Shark Week is awesome too.

Ghosted by BoddahBoom @ 08/02/2008 11:50 PM EDT

Matt, might I suggest Suburban Commando for some background noise?

“I’ll get you Ramsay!”
“No wonder you guys never talk”

Classic.

Ghosted by NintendoMan @ 08/02/2008 11:51 PM EDT

hmmm, how about the tenth kingdom? that mini series from ages ago. they turned the whole thing into movie form too, and Matt, you will ADORE it.

Ghosted by vwarb @ 08/02/2008 11:51 PM EDT

I’m watching Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer on IFC. Was watching Shark Week earlier.

Ghosted by Matt(#2?) @ 08/02/2008 11:56 PM EDT

I finally figured out how to use the power washer today. Works just fine once the air is out of the system.

Found out my awnings weren’t black, but yellow.

Ghosted by Brian @ 08/03/2008 12:04 AM EDT

Don’t you have that Nightmare on Elm Street album? That “Don’t Sleep” song with the wailing guitar is basically as perfect background music as you can get.

Ghosted by Douglas Brown @ 08/03/2008 12:15 AM EDT

How about a nice fan or air conditioner? Or 15,000 squirrels running around on your porch. (And two raccoons, though I haven’t seen them lately.) That’s all the background noise I need.

Ghosted by starwenn @ 08/03/2008 12:16 AM EDT

As far as background noise goes, you can’t beat Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But maybe it’s just me.

Ghosted by Gunblader @ 08/03/2008 12:21 AM EDT

I find Ferris Bueller makes a good background movie- you can pop in and out easily.

Cartoons are always good.

Ghosted by Muppet Baby @ 08/03/2008 12:24 AM EDT

I love Simpsons DVDs for background noise. Actually, they’re ideal for trying to go to sleep when I can’t turn off my brain. I’ve seen them so many times that I just close my eyes and picture the action, and I’m asleep in no time. Better than Tylenol PM, I tell ya!

I slept from 4 to 1 this morning/afternoon. I was on the bed later and my husband asked if I was going to nap. I said that there was no way because I’d gotten enough sleep. 30 minutes later I woke up. I guess I still wasn’t caught up.

Ghosted by Lori @ 08/03/2008 12:31 AM EDT

I have to use airconditioner as background noise because if I put on any music, I will get into it.

As for movies, I’m back in a Gamera mood, but I don’t own the ones I want to watch or just leave on.

I may put on Rescue Rangers. At this point, why the hell not?

Ghosted by Justin B @ 08/03/2008 12:33 AM EDT

Right now I have the Harold and Kumar 2 blu ray on. And earlier I was watching the just released Freakazoid DVD. Life is good.

Ghosted by 9Line @ 08/03/2008 12:34 AM EDT

usually a musical dos it for me, like sound of music or chicago, or something stupidly funny that can kinda keep your attention, like zoolander or the mast. Tron is also a good choice. Who doesnt love tron?

Ghosted by Nick @ 08/03/2008 12:34 AM EDT

Sup party people!

Shame on you, Matt. I’m always here for SNT.

When I’m here~ :o

Ghosted by Neg @ 08/03/2008 12:36 AM EDT

I know what you mean about sleep deprivation. I actually caught up today, too. I slept from 11PM to freakin’ 6PM and only woke up twice.

It felt -great-.

In other news, I’d completely forgotten that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were on the OST for Power Rangers: The Movie.

Watched it a bit ago for the first time in ages. Love that Ivan Ooze.

Nick
TRON kicks ass.

TRace ON!

Ghosted by Cameron T. @ 08/03/2008 12:44 AM EDT

Nick

You know, I bought Tron awhile ago second-hand from a Half Price Books, and never watched it. Sounds like a plan for tonight.

Ghosted by Gunblader @ 08/03/2008 12:45 AM EDT

Yeah me and mah man are getting crunk off this new mix I made that I’ve dubbed to be alcoholic Ecto Cooler. Essentially it’s Orange Tangerine Juicy Juice, Absolut Mandrin and green food coloring. *yawn* Just the thing to kick it down a notch after an exhausting day of trying out beds at the mattress store.

Watched Lost Boys 2 earlier… was okay. The surfing thing was kinda effed. The best part, really, was the alternate endings. That and there were some boobies.

Ghosted by Mystie @ 08/03/2008 12:47 AM EDT

Hey Matt!

I had dropped a nugget nod towards the flick already this week, but I think you would enjoy the soundtrack to the 1985 movie; Explorers.

The movie started off fantastic and was one of my favs as a lil kid; however just like Ethan Hawks character the viewer is left just a lil disappointed near the films end when the aliens resemble green gumby looney toon rejects.

The soundtrack is a real treat at every track, and just hearing the theme song takes me back to 7 again.

Ghosted by TOXICSHLOCK @ 08/03/2008 12:51 AM EDT

Second-Rate Dracula, I loved the first MMPR movie, the sound track was totally kick ass! I was in love with the black ranger- Johnny Yong Bosch!

Ghosted by Rae @ 08/03/2008 12:52 AM EDT

That recipe is inspired, Mystie. I just brought home a bunch of fruit to make a batch of sangria, too bad it has to chill overnight. I’m not even really into red wine but I just felt like trying it.
Happy Saturday everybody :D

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 08/03/2008 1:15 AM EDT

Oooh, sangria. Does the fruit really need to be that well-chilled? Because that sounds amazing. I want some right now.

Ghosted by Matt @ 08/03/2008 1:18 AM EDT

Actually everything I read in the five minutes of Googling I did before I went to the store says I can let it chill a little while and serve it over ice if I’m in a hurry, so I’ll give that a try.

Ghosted by squee4242 @ 08/03/2008 1:26 AM EDT

I’m playing Octomania….this game I got on the wii for 9.99 its pretty sweet for the price and it has wifi multi player
its a puzzle game….look it up

um….yeah we have some Christian rock from the 80’s going on in the background…and my pup running around panting like an obscene caller

Ghosted by mandy_Reeves @ 08/03/2008 1:27 AM EDT

That’s funny, about 15 minutes before I read tonight’s post I got really drowsy. Which is funny because I woke up at 3 in the afternoon today. I haven’t been able to catch up on tv or movies lately because it seems like 20 minutes or so into it I fall asleep. Either on the couch or in my chair facing the computer monitor. It’s starting to get old. Especially because I told my best friend this morning about it and he asked me if I had narcolepsy. No I just fall asleep when I am not being bothered every 10 minutes with something different. I laugh at the thought of having narcolepsy!

And Matt Where’s my picture? :(

Ghosted by Goob @ 08/03/2008 1:34 AM EDT

Something interesting I found. I’m almost certain you guys would appreciate it.

Things Are Tough All Over. Background music, try
Phil Collins No Jacket Required. :) .
