X-E’s ’08 Summer Megaparty: Cobra’s Chia Plot, Part V.

Just a few random things, as I'm too tired to take pictures but not too tired to write. It's all lies in what position my arms need to be in, see.

1) I tried the "six Saltines with no water in under a minute" trick tonight...AND FAILED. Honestly, I probably could've done it, but by cracker #3, the risk/reward ratio started leaning the wrong way and I decided that eating six crackers in less than a minute wasn't really something I'd be able to hang my hat on, anyway.

2) I finally got around to watching Lake Placid 2. John Schneider is 2 for 2. As was the case with Shark Swarm, I found the movie entertainingly bad enough to sit through, but not to the level necessary for me to recommend it. The first Lake Placid was an anomaly: No movie about a giant crocodile invading Maine had any right to be that good. Lightning did not strike twice, but they kind of made up for it with the inclusion of seventeen million extra giant crocodiles, all CG rendered in terrible fashion. During some of the attack scenes, victims were missing limbs that the gators absolutely did not bite off.

Still, there's a definite sense that the people who made the movie actually set out to make a bad movie. Some of the stuff was just too over the top for that not to be the case, and these suspicions were confirmed by a special feature on the DVD which replays the entire movie, but automatically fast forwards past any scene that doesn't feature naked women or someone getting attacked by a crocodile. Clever.

Also of note is Cloris Leachman in Betty White's role from the first film. (Well, she plays Betty's character's sister here.) If you don't recall, Cloris was the actress thrown in the unenviable position of Mrs. Garrett's replacement on The Facts of Life. That didn't turn out so well, as the only suitable replacement for Mrs. Garrett is a biologically engineered clone of Mrs. Garrett. Still, it was nice to see ol' Cloris again, especially in a movie where she feeds people to crocodiles.

3) You guys have really been rocking it on the recent surveys. Better cut that out before I start thinking that it's okay to pose random questions and call it an entry.

4) I really need to knock it off with the "three hours of sleep per night" thing. It's out of control, and I spend most of my awake time feeling like I'm sharing a brain and body with someone who is much stupider than I hope I am. The latest trend: Someone asks me a simple question, my brain comes up with two similar answers with different wording, and my mouth translates those answers as one mutated, slurry monster. At work today, someone fairly high up asked me how I was doing. She learned that I was doing "algood," which apparently is somewhere between "all right" and "good."

5) I'm considering giving the cracker trick another go.

Maybe Matt’s coming up with a resolution to the whole Cobra Chia Plot thing…

I too have recently been going on an incredibly low amount of sleep. Not because I have anything better to do, just my mind is always working so I can’t get to sleep but yea, I dont know if it’s happened to you yet, but you can expect it.

It’s the point where your so tired that the objects/room around you kinda start to shimmer. I know it probably sounds like i’m high, but im not, just no sleep. You’ll see, it’ll happen eventually.

algood is the best way to describe how you’re feeling.

Using already made up words is for chumps..making our own up out of already existing words is for champs!

I cannot sleep in the summer, usually. It’s just too sticky to think about rest. However, for the past week or so, I have been patiently waiting for the night’s post. After which I read, comment, and go to bed. So, ironically, you are tucking me in Matt.
About the Chia thing…

I personally invented a new swear a few years ago and to this very day when I say it I always get a confused look. The swear in question you ask “bitch cakes” don’t really know what it means but it sure makes me laugh. Try it out and see what strange looks you get.

Matt, like Cameron T. you had me goin with the thread title. Nice one! =) I can sympathize with ya on the sleep thing. I can usually sleep peacfully once I get to sleep, but I often have trouble fallin asleep in the first place. Also give the cracker thing another go. You can definately do it if you just prepare yurself first.

Here is a good topic. Tell us about the worst movie you ever saw on the big screen. Or you
can talk about the worst direct-to-video film
that you ever saw.

Nice to hear you’ve been doing algood. Sounds like a doctor’s name…

I actually have some friends in New Zealand who, when asked how they’re doing, answer “algud.”
always. Apparently it’s a typical response there.
Don’t know why I told you that.

I’m on my way to see The Mummy 3…. pretty pumped! : )

Matt,
I feel you, buddy. I too often have trouble going to sleep, but not usually staying asleep. Being it being summer, and me not in school and unemployed has thrown off my entire sleep schedule. Nowadays, I don’t go to sleep before 2 am.

LoneStar76,
In answer to your poll question, I have watched (or rather, attempted to watch but quit out of sheer embarassment) Cool As Ice. Just horrible.
BUT, the absolute (best) worst movie I’ve ever seen is a little direct-to-video gem called Ring of Darkness. All you need to know about this movie can be summed up in four words: Gay. Vampire. Boy. Band. It’s terrible, but howlingly funny. My sister almost had an asthma attack from laughing so hard at this movie. I could not recommend it any higher.

Betty White was on Jay Leno the other night getting paintballs shot at her while she stood behind some glass. The game was to see if she’d flinch or not. Cruel cruel cruel. (She didn’t flinch.)
On the sleeping note…I’ve been gettin’ 3 hours or less nightly for the last week. My wife is due to give birth any day now and she has been miserable at night, which is an automatic no-sleep-ticket for me also. I’ve been told I won’t be getting much sleep for the next few years…

let’s see the worst movie I ever paid to watch in a theatre had to be….wait for it…Ecks VS. Sever. AND!!!! for the record the ONLY reason I watched it was because it was filmed in my hometown of Vancouver B.C. and they acknowledged it as such.

I’ve heard the cracker legend, but I’ve also heard that it’s impossible to eat a slice of bread in under a minute without water. I tried it and did it in about 20 seconds. Maybe it’s harder with whole grain bread?

Chestnuts roasted by Bluejay @ 07/31/2008 11:49 PM

Number 42,

“Beth” from NewsRadio is the one who wanted to popularize bitch cakes.

Chestnuts roasted by ATD @ 07/31/2008 11:49 PM

Really! What a bummer. Oh well it’s still funny.

Chestnuts roasted by Number 42 @ 07/31/2008 11:51 PM

Okay I just tried the cracker thing and I could not do it. It took me 45 seconds to eat three of them. :(

Chestnuts roasted by Bluejay @ 07/31/2008 11:56 PM

tylor,

I’m sure someone there speaks english.
Try saying, “Juh Nuh Par-lay Frahn-say.”

Worst movie I ever saw in a theater was Battlefield Earth. Thank you L. Ron Hubbard for that stinky cinematic suppository.

Although, Travolta was (unintentionally) funny. And his buddy Forest Whitaker wasn’t too bad either.

You are a cruel, cruel bastard. And I love that.

That didn’t turn out so well, as the only suitable replacement for Mrs. Garrett is a biologically engineered clone of Mrs. Garrett.

It’s sentences like that one that keeps me coming back here. Hilarious.

Well,you’ve finally done it,Matt.
When I was 17,I heard about Beast Wars. I watched about 2 and half episodes of it,pissed off the whole time. My favorite cartoon robots turned into talking mice and lions and other crap? So I stopped watching, and I’ve cursed the name Beast Wars ever since. I know EVERYONE in the damn world feels it’s the best show of all time, but I stood resolute.
Anyway, every time you mention how great it is,I think,”Well, maybe it’s not so bad-” then I just think,”ahh,Matt doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
So today at Kmart I noticed those Robot Heroes you raved about last week (I bought the G1 dudes) and I thought “What the Hell.” So I watched episode one of Beast Wars with an open mind.

Damnit,it’s a decent show. I’ll probably end up watching the entire series. I do wish it wasn’t animated by a Nintendo 64,and the anthromophic animals is a little Disney-esque,but it’s a pretty cool show nonetheless. Waspinator is pretty awesome.
So anyway, you turned me from a diehard hater into sort of a fan.
I still prefer G1 though.

Chestnuts roasted by Kid Nicky @ 08/01/2008 12:24 AM

Kid Nicky: You gotta get past the early episodes — they’re pretty boring when you don’t have the context provided by the later episodes. Get into the second season. :)
