Ugh, there is something in the damn air tonight. Let’s make this an all-night happy party thread. Frig this, I’m getting the Summer Jukebox ready. Only Bobby Rydell can save us now.

Whoa whoa, oh, those Wildwood Days~
Ghosted by Neg @ 07/28/2008 11:23 PM EDT
Some “Hot Child in the City” to be added to the juke, perhaps?

Happy Happy!
Joy Joy!
Anyway, I saw a billboard today touting Nickelodeon Theme Park inside the Mall of America, claiming it’s the first Nick Theme Park. Didn’t Universal Studios have a Nick Theme Park?

In wildwood now, I love summer, and I love that huge ferris wheel. Now if most of the inhabitants of wildwood weren’t there, It’d be perfect.

It was around 104 here in Waco today. Gonna be highs of 100 all week. Damn.
My AC unit can’t keep up. It’s like 77-80 in the apartment when I get home. I think I need to change the filter…
So yeah…HAPPY SILLY STUPID ICE COLD PARTY THREAD! WHOO!
(Can’t stay up that long though…)

The weather is not so bad that “we need deodorant for our balls its so sticky outside”, but its close enough to make most of us nervous
Ghosted by TOXICSHLOCK @ 07/28/2008 11:30 PM EDT
Actually, JLAJRC, no it didn’t. It just had the nickelodeon STUDIOS that actually filmed shows in. You may remember the “Filmed before a live audience at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios, Florida” bumper after several shows.
The day they announced its closure and that it would be remodeled into a Blue Man Group Theater, my soul puked inside of me. Damn you, easily carsick inner child!
precursor – my mother used to reference a movie scene of a ferris wheel rolling down the beach off of its base, while we’d be on it.
tigerfan – me too =(

ditto tiger fan. we sweat here in louisiana like michael moore at a cake convention

lsudude, where are you located, shreveport here
Ghosted by tigerfan @ 07/28/2008 11:40 PM EDT
Jess – that movie with the ferris wheel rolling off its base and down the pier and into the water was in “1941″, directed by Steven Speilberg. And it’s not very good.
it feels good do it. if you got a problem, blame somebody else – george w. bush

Timewaster I shall keep that in mind. I know the scene in my head although I can’t even remember when I saw it. Another thing I recall from those summers at the beach however was MST3K. Nothing like people being punished in space with bad movies. That show needs to be on some channel every summer night.
Ghosted by Jess @ 07/28/2008 11:52 PM EDT
and speaking of Nick, they need to get back to that awesome Nick@Nite rotation of one awesome old show a night
Ghosted by Jess @ 07/28/2008 11:54 PM EDT
I miss MST3K like crazy. Haven’t seen any reruns in yeeeears. Sigh.
Last month and a half or so, we’ve been converting our garage into a big set of rooms (main, bath, closet) for my grandmother. Grandpa passed away last December and mom was all worried, like she does.
Anyway, one thing we did was move our chain-link fence back a bit. Sooo our dog has been finding ways to get out. x.x Both times it’s been nights where rain has been up north. She’s spooked of storms and freaks out, see. Well, there was a lot of arguing last time it happened. Eventually, we basically had to just tie the dog up to one of the trees in the yard. We had to do it again this time, too.
Only trouble is, my mother freaks out constantly, thinking the dog is stupid enough to somehow HANG herself. Despite the tie-point being lower to the ground than the dog’s head.
So yeah. Lotta stress, lotta bleh from allergies. Lotta bad luck and sleepless nights due to every neighborhood dog psychically knowing the EXACT moment I’m getting into bed. Goddamn barking hooligans.

BMovieGeek there is a series of old 40s-60s PSA films they made fun of on a dvd set that seemed to only exist in a friends apartment i no longer know the whereabouts of, have you seen it?
Ghosted by Jess @ 07/28/2008 11:59 PM EDT
I actually went to the Mall of America a few years ago on a school assignment/trip. There were a cool few niche stores there, but I was too busy doing the assignment to shop, so I didn’t buy anything. I’d like to go back sometime simply to browse.
Ghosted by JLAJRC @ 07/29/2008 12:03 AM EDT
Hey Jess. I have seen a some of their PSA spoofs. I believe a couple of the DVDs have a collection of shorts on them that include a few of the PSAs. Looks like MST3k Collection Vol. 1 has the first collection of shorts and MST3k Collection Vol. 3 has a second batch of em. I dunno how many other DVDs have additional shorts on ‘em, but they were definitely golden material.
Ah thanks a bunch, thought it was a set I couldn’t find.

Oh man, I wish I could sculpt like that. I’ve always dreamed of making my own masks, but somehow I don’t think I’ve quite got the skills for it. Going for a reaper type outfit or just s generic hooded skeleton? I really like the chin and cheek bones. Really stylized.
Thanks BMovieGeek!
I think this puppy will be a generic hooded, once I spend more time on the teeth which need some major overhaul, I’ll get some more details going, texture and stuff.

the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bakers were some happy bastards Matt – they knew what they were doing…
Ghosted by TOXICSHLOCK @ 07/29/2008 12:32 AM EDT
Cinnamon Toast Crunch would be so, so good right now.
Oh, I had a question for Matt…
Once upon a time, a couple of months ago, you mentioned that you were in possession of a Disney World 25th Anniversary television special hosted by two of the Golden Girls (Rue and Betty, I’m presuming). Do you have any plans to write about it?
Ghosted by Hey I'm Jeff @ 07/29/2008 12:32 AM EDT
TOXICSHLOCK: that sculpt is pretty bad-ass. Nice work my friend.
Ghosted by TF (aka Magic Toy) @ 07/29/2008 12:37 AM EDT
Cinnamon Toast Crunch does sound good, too bad I’m completely out. Maybe I’ll have some Cocoa Puffs instead…..
Last week I found out I was having some major problems with my vision – essentially, I got an infection in my left eye and it made my vision cloudy. I’m taking some medication to hopefully get rid of the infection but the location is dead center, in the middle of my pupil. I’ve been told that if it scars, I would have permanent vision damage in that eye. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen to them?
Ghosted by jjwspider @ 07/29/2008 12:41 AM EDT
Hey I’m Jeff: Yeah, I think eventually I will write about it, but it’s more charming than “lampoonable.” Would be tricky because it’s one of those things that’s amazing to watch but I’m not sure how much there would be to say about it…but I think I’ll try. Thanks for the reminder.
Saw the Wizard Of Oz last night. Classic moment: The lion asks the tin man. How long do you stay fresh in that can!!! Classic!!! That cracks me up everytime I see it. Some 30’s humor!!

Matt, don’t mean to nag, but when might we expect to see the jukebox up? I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s track lineup!:)
Ghosted by Hoverbored @ 07/29/2008 12:54 AM EDT
Cool, Matt. Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be one of those “KOOL ARTICLE BUT U SHOULD RITE ABOUT THIS NEXT”-type people, I was just curious.
Ghosted by Hey I'm Jeff @ 07/29/2008 12:54 AM EDT
’still haven’t gotten the hang of that bold type… (trumpet cue)
Ghosted by Hoverbored @ 07/29/2008 12:55 AM EDT
Jess, if you’re talking about newly produced stuff where some of the MST3K guys are making fun of shorts, it’s probably Rifftrax. There’s also Cinematic Titanic, which is some of the other MST3K folk’s new project. It’s a really cool time to be an MST3K fan, after 10 years off the air it’s having a total renaissance.
jjwspider, I can’t say that I’ve ever had a problem like that but it sounds pretty nerve wracking. Best wishes
Would love love love to read about the Golden Disneyworld video. Looking forward to the new Jukebox too!
Well I FINALLY tracked the last new Mountain Dew flavor and tried it. It was Voltage for anyone curious. My final verdict? It was REALLY good, but, not my favorite. My ranking of the 3 flavors is as follows
1.Super Nova
2.Voltage
3.Revolution
So i’m hoping Super Nova ends up wiing the contest. SO, i’m off to go vote on the MD site. =) Matt: I really like these talk about anything threads. I think posting one every now and then is good for a change of pace.
Ghosted by ULTRAMAN @ 07/29/2008 1:15 AM EDT
Matt, if it’s not a problem, could you plese put
some clips of The golden Girls Walt Disney World
special on YouTube? I haven’t seen it for a
while.

Hoverboard: Trying to solve the Juke issue is on the list of things I will end up not doing tonight even though I intend to.
LoneStar76: There will definitely be clips in the review.
