While spending an hour plus waiting in line for a ride at a Six Flags theme park a few weeks ago with my fiancee and her little brother and sister, we were treated to an extended mating dance by two ducks. There wasn’t a whole lot else to do, so for about 20 minutes, we watched poor Mr. Mallard trying to woo his lady love… I felt bad for the kids…

Yeah, one bird basically hops on the other’s back, then starts flapping his wings like crazy. I saw some pigeons doing it right in front of a hotel window we were staying at once.

I think one of my aunts said she saw hummingbirds doing the deed too-in midair, on the move. Damn those things have crazy metabolisms!
