My favorite movie experience was about ten years ago. I knew a guy who worked in a theater. He let me a few of my friends into a midnight showing of Bride of Chucky a couple of days before it was supposed to be shown.

We had the whole place to ourselves. Popcorn, sodas, nachos. We were drinking beer and smoking joints. It was great. Watching Chucky get some off that Jennifer Tilly doll was the funniest thing I had ever seen.

Once I went with a friend to go see Turbo: A Power Rangers movie...(I was mistaken in believing that it would be enjoyable, like the first one)..there were five people in there, counting us. Bad movie, good theater experience.

When the Star Wars trilogy was re-released, I went with a gang of friends to see Episode 4. I got caught up in the story and when Luke blew up the Death Star, I jumped up and cheered loudly. My friends looked at me, then shrank down in their seats. I was pumped! The only other time I've stood up in the theater was when Freddy and Jason squared off in the real world, and I wasn't alone then. Here, I was. No one laughed either, but I did get a few smartass looks here and there from the dipshit non-fans.

I have a couple.
1. I had to go see Bee Movie, which was terrible.
But on the other hand, me and my brother went all MST on the trailers. Good times.
2. I went to see Wall-E, and about half way through the film, this group of kids behind us would not shut up. I really wanted to jump up right then and yell at them to shut up.
3. Watching Iron Man, this boy and girl behind me, who couldn't have been more then five years old, started talking to their dad about the movie. "Did he die daddy?" "Why is he yelling?"
"What's he doin with the girl?"
The dad must have been an idiot to take his toddlers to a PG-13 film.

I remember a couple months back seeing a little horror film at the San Francisco International Film Festival by the name of The Mother of Tears. The thing was I was with my 55 year old mother and my 14 year old nephew. My mother closed her eyes when a woman was strangled by her own guts. They were really close to to getting the director to attend the screening. Good thing they didnt because the audience was cracking up at all the wrong parts. Good campy movie though.

I think the best experience was when we went to see Shanghai Noon and the reel burned up towards the end of the film when they're all in the church. There was just this little bubble before it destroyed the whole reel. We were sitting there for 20 minutes at the least before they figured it out and replaced the reel.

Also, we were watching The Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland, for my little brother, and when Elmo fell through the trashcan, about 3 ceiling tiles fell onto innocent audience members. I thought it was some new 4-D technology, but it was just a really crappy movie theater.

The place is shut down now. Probably too much mold in the walls.

At the Dallas Film Festival this year, we saw The Wasp Woman with live riffing from the Cinematic Titanic crew. Best movie experience EVER. Afterwards we ran into Meatloaf in the lobby.

Okay...I got four. Sorry.

- Went to see Ghostbusters when it first came out, and when the librarian went all 'scary' my little brother (age 11) screamed and jumped over his seat and into the row behind us. He landed on a pair of teenagers making out and knocked their cokes into their lap and pretty much ended their night of romance.

- This would be the same brother who my mother (learning that movie posters are NOT a good judge of a movie) took my little brother and me to see All The Right Moves. She was very embarassed when my little brother went home, ran in and 'Grandpa.. I saw a BOOB! And it was TWENTY FEET BIG!!'

- My husband and my brother went to see Rapid Fire with Brandon Lee at the late late show. The movie starts and some drunk in the dark goes "I think this is a martial Arts Film!" completely surprised. This was over a decade ago and both my husband and brother will imitate that guy everytime there's a martial arts movie or TV show in their presence whether they're at home or at the Video Store. ::rolls eyes :: men...

- But my personal favorite was going to see Star Wars: Episode One. We live in a pretty small town and still, the local theater had the requisite midnight show. We stood in line for hours, and when the line started to move, and we got in, it was a packed house all buzzing with excitement. The theater goes dark... all us nerds are fairly vibrating now... The previews are ending... It's just tension central. The words "A Long Time ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away' appear...And some dork a few rows ahead calls out loud enough for everyone to hear...

"Wait, I've seen this before!!"

And the whole theater cracked up. It broke the tension for a while and we could all just relax and enjoy the experience.

And then, of course, Jar-Jar came on screen.
