Too bad about the flat, Matt. I'm a teacher and a couple of months ago, a parent of one of my students slashed my tires for giving her son an 'F' on a paper (in 4th grade, mind you). Teachers get mad respect, yo.

Sorry about the tire, Matt. Hope the weekend has been kinder to you thus far.

I can change a tire, but add me to the list of guys who can't drive stick and know jack crap about football.

What a boring ass saturday...I've done nothing but bounce between the internet and Wii Bowling. At least I'm regaining my form in bowling. The game Goob mentioned much earlier could've been a number of games: Ikari Warriors 1-3, Commando, Guerrilla War etc. Those games were always a good time...You should check out a game called Gun.Smoke which is an over head shooter set in the old west. It was a lot of fun with the NES advantage with turbo blaring back in the day :D

You wrote something in your blog. That's an entry. The IOU's nice, though. Sometimes life gives you lemons, and you aren't really up to entertaining the public (or anything else). It happens. I've blown tires on my bikes in the middle of nowhere before. (Though the last time that happened, I was right next to an Ace Hardware and tire repair service.)

gingela5, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds like a belt in the pulley system. That would cause a squeak. As for a rubbing sound during braking, my money would be on your pads being worn out.

If it's a belt, it's not a huge deal, they are relativly cheap to replace. And brakes are no big deal either. Any honest shop can put on new pads and rotors in under an hour for around $100. I did my brakes in my driveway just a few months ago and it only cost me $56 for parts.

The best peice of advice I can give anyone when it comes to car repair, is that you should find yourself a good, honest, trustworthy mechanic who's ASE certified.

I'm lucky enough to have just that in my back pocket. I can't say enough good things about him. He's done a lot of work and not charged for it, helped me out when I'm in over my head, loaned me tools, he's even let me use a rack at his shop for free so I could work on my car.
